San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar was not in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's game against the Oakland Athletics due to patellar tendinitis in his left knee.

Profar exited Tuesday night's victory over Oakland due to knee soreness. He aggravated the knee during a swing at a pitch in the eighth inning, and David Peralta entered to finish the at-bat.

"Some days it's just really bad. Yesterday was the worst day in a while," Profar told reporters before Wednesday's game.

Profar delivered a two-run single in Tuesday's contest prior to his departure.

Profar entered play on Wednesday with a .324 average that ranked second in the majors behind teammate Luis Arraez (.327). He also ranked third in on-base percentage (.424).

The 31-year-old Profar is a surprise candidate for a National League All-Star spot due to his stellar season. He has 10 homers, 12 doubles, 45 RBIs and a .500 slugging percentage in 71 games.

Profar played for the Padres from 2020-22 before signing with the Rockies prior to last season. Colorado let him go on Aug. 27, 2023, and he re-signed with San Diego four days later.

Profar was a free agent until late February, when the Padres elected to sign him to a one-year, $1 million deal. There are also bonus clauses based on plate appearances.
