Slam Dunk Fantasy Basketball

The Game

Slam Dunk Fantasy Basketball ("the Contest") is a weekly head-to-head fantasy basketball game where you can start your own public league or join an existing public league. Leagues feature head to head points style scoring with all teams competing for the league championship. Leagues are open to all players of all skill levels. You may choose the league that fits you best. The rules for this Contest are explained below.

The Commissioner

RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc. ("RTFS") will serve as the commissioner for fantasy basketball leagues and will be responsible for resolving any disputes that arise, such as rules violations or any other matters that may come up in connection with the Contest. All commissioner decisions by RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc. are final.

Leagues

You may sign up and play the Contest up until the registration deadline at any of these listed entry levels: $20, $50, $100, $125, $250, $500 per team. As part of the Official Rules, all dollar amounts are in US Dollars (USD). You may register and play as many teams as you like. You may not have more than one team in any league. If you do register more than one team, each team must be in a different league. To be prize eligible you may not own more than one team per league per household.

After the league is filled, you may not receive a refund and all sales are final. Honoring refund requests will be subject to the sole discretion of RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc.

Once you join a fantasy league you will have the option to switch to another league up until the league is filled and if applicable, the draft order is set or up until 30 minutes prior to the scheduled draft time. Draft

After the last team has joined the league, the league will be locked in and the draft order will be randomly generated. The draft order is a random order of all teams that have joined the league and is not affected by when teams join the league. Once the draft order is set, all teams will be notified via email the league is locked in and the draft order has been generated. If your league does not have all the required teams, the league will be disbanded prior to the scheduled draft date and time. If your league is disbanded you will be able to join another league or create a new league. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to move the scheduled draft time up to 90 minutes to give the league sufficient time to fill with the required number of teams.

The draft will be an S-style draft with the team picking last in the first round picking first in the second round and so on. For example, in a 12 team league:

  • Round 1: Team1, Team2, Team3, Team4, Team5, Team6, Team7, Team8, Team9, Team10, Team11, Team12
  • Round 2: Team12, Team11, Team10, Team9, Team8, Team7, Team6, Team5, Team4, Team3, Team2, Team1
  • Round 3: Team1, Team2, Team3, Team4, Team5, Team6, Team7, Team8, Team9, Team10, Team11, Team12
  • Round 4: Team12, Team11, Team10, Team9, Team8, Team7, Team6, Team5, Team4, Team3, Team2, Team1

In normal drafts, each team will have 90 seconds per pick to draft a player.

If the league is designated to have a slow draft, each team will have between 2 and 8 hours to draft a player. In a slow draft the draft will pause from ~2:00am ET until 8:00am ET. Note: the clock may not pause at exactly 2:00am, it can take a couple minutes to get all leagues paused. Notifications via email, text, or the official RTFS app will be sent to team owners when they are on the clock. Team owners may select to receive notifications after each completed draft pick. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to reduce the draft time for each team in the final week before the start of the first game of the season.

After you join or create a league, you will have the opportunity to establish your own auto draft list of players.

Prior to your draft, you may customize your auto draft list to rank the players by your preferences. You may customize your draft auto draft list at any time up to and even during your draft. If you do not customize your auto draft list, the auto draft list for the draft will be the player rankings from RealTime Fantasy Sports, as they are listed at the time of your draft.

The auto draft list will be used as a fail-safe backup in case your draft clock expires before you make a pick. In the event you should fail to make a pick in the time allowed, RealTime Fantasy Sports will automatically draft a player for you. The player will be the top ranked player on your auto draft list. Players drafted automatically will be selected from your auto draft list, or from the players in the RTFS rankings without an injury designation if you do not have a list, in a manner that will fill out your team's starting lineup before the end of the draft. In order to prevent auto drafted teams from having too many players at any one position, positional maximums are configured and can be adjusted by each team. Should the draft clock expire on a team in two consecutive rounds in a draft or one round in an 8-hour slow draft, the system will set the team to auto-draft until disabled by a team owner. Auto draft selections will stand and will not be reversed.

RTFS reserves the right to pause a draft to contact players who have failed to enter the draft on time. RTFS reserves the right to correct draft mistakes within a reasonable timeframe.

Auction

Leagues designated "Auction" will use a live bidding auction style draft to establish initial team rosters. Each team will have an auction budget of $200.

After the last team has joined the league, the league will be locked in and the auction nomination order will be randomly generated. At this time all teams will be notified via email the league is locked and the auction nomination order has been randomly generated. If your league does not have the required teams, the league will be disbanded prior to the scheduled auction date and time. If your league is disbanded you will be able to join another league or create a new league. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to move the scheduled auction time up to 90 minutes to give the league sufficient time to fill with the required teams.

During the auction, each team will have 30 seconds to nominate the next player for bidding. Teams will nomination players one at a time in nomination order. Once a player has been nominated all team owners will have 20 seconds to submit bids for the nominated player. All bids will be shown to all teams. Team owners may submit unlimited bids on any player as long as each bid is at least $1 more than the current highest bid. If a new highest bid is received in the last 12 seconds of the player auction, the auction clock for the player will be reset to 12 seconds to allow all teams a chance to submit a higher bid. Once the auction clock for the player expires, the player will be awarded to the team with the highest bid.

Bids will be honored if received by system computers before the expiration of the auction countdown clock. It takes time for a team owner's computer to transmit bids from their location to the system computers, if a bid is submitted at the last second, it may not be received before the auction countdown clock expires. Bids received after the auction clock expires will not be honored.

During the auction, if the system detects a team owner is not present, the system will automatically submit bids in an attempt to build a roster for the absent team owner.

Team owners may familiarize themselves with the auction room via RealTime Fantasy Sports' free mock drafting. Team owners are encouraged to mock auction before their league auction.

Teams

Position Eligibility

Prior to the draft, all players eligible to be drafted will be published in the official player eligibility list. The list will identify each players' qualifying position(s) as of the start of the season. The position eligibility on that list will be the player's position(s) for the entire fantasy season. Final player eligibility designation is at the sole discretion of RealTime Fantasy Sports.

Roster Composition

Each team will consist of a roster of 14 players and each draft or auction will be 14 rounds. Team owners are free to choose the player mix on their roster. There are no restrictions on the number of players at any position that may be on a team's roster. Owners are not required to have a minimum number of players at any position on their roster.

Weekly Lineups

The Contest uses a single starting lineup for each team per week. A week runs from Monday's games through Sunday's games. Team owners may start or bench a player for the current week up until the beginning of the first game for that player that week. After that time that player is locked and cannot be started or benched. In addition, lineup changes are allowed one week in advance.

Each team's roster and starting lineup will consist of a maximum of:

  • 14 Roster Players
  • 10 Total Starters
  • 2 Centers
  • 3 Forwards
  • 3 Guards
  • 2 Flex
  • 4 Reserves
Free Agents

Waiver Wire

Free agents will be awarded using a prioritized waiver wire system. Team owners may select free agents they wish to acquire for the next week via the waiver wire beginning each Monday morning of the season. Waiver wire award order will be worst to first by each team's position in the previous week overall standings. If two or more teams are tied in the standings the team with the lowest number of total points scored at the time of the waiver wire will be awarded the player first. If two or more teams are still tied, the team with the worst head-to-head record against the other tied teams will be awarded the player first.

Beginning with the worst team in the league, each team owner will be awarded a single player. After each team in the league has been awarded a maximum of one player, the process will repeat beginning with the worst team in the league. This process will repeat until all player requests have been evaluated. If a team makes no player request, that team will not be awarded any players.

Player requests must be submitted by 11:59pm ET on Sunday of each week of the season. Player awards will be shortly after.

If your league draft completes before the Sunday prior to Opening Day, your league will have a preseason waiver wire the first Sunday prior to Opening Day. If your league draft finishes on or after the Sunday prior to Opening Day you will not have a preseason waiver wire period. If a league has a preseason waiver wire, the order of that waiver wire will be reverse draft/nomination order.

During the league playoffs the waiver wire will be first to worst by total points, so the top team will be rewarded with the first selection in each round.

Unrestricted Free Agent Period

After the waiver wire completes, an unrestricted free agent period will open at 9:00am ET on Monday and will close when the first game starts that week.

Protected Free Agents

In order to prevent collusion or coordinated drop trades, any player released from any roster shall remain a protected free agent until the first waiver wire of the following week. This means the player will not be available to be acquired by any team in the week the player was dropped. This only applies to players that have been on a team's roster for at least one fantasy week.

In a further effort to prevent collusion or unfair competition, if players drafted in the first 2 rounds of the league's draft or won for $30 or more at the league's auction are released they will become unavailable and declared protected free agents for the duration of the season. Team owners will be allowed to replace those players, but no team owners will be allowed to re-acquire the dropped players as free agents. RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc. reserves the right to add any player to the list of players that will become protected free agents for the duration of the season for any reason.

Additionally, any players dropped for play in the final week of the regular season and the playoffs will become protected free agents for the duration of the season. Team owners will still be allowed to drop and replace players, but no team owners will be allowed to acquire any of these dropped players as free agents.

Trades

Leagues are non-trading leagues.

Head-to-Head Scoring

Point Style Rules

During each Monday to Sunday week, two teams face each other in a Head-to-Head matchup. Each team earns points based on statistics accumulated by its players that week. Points are awarded to each team according to the point values in each of the statistical categories. A team's total score for each week of the season is a combination of points a team has been awarded in each statistical category.

The statistical categories and point values are listed below:

CategoryPoint Value
Points Scored1
Rebounds1.25
Assists1.5
Steals2
Blocked Shots2
Turnovers-0.5

For each head-to-head matchup, the team with the greater number of points at the end of the week will earn a Win and the team with the lesser number will earn a Loss. In the event of tie, the following tie breakers will be used in order: Points Scored, then Rebounds, then Assists. League and division standings are based on teams' win/loss records.

Statistics for games that are postponed for any reason, including but not limited to work stoppage, facilities, natural disaster, disease, or terrorism, will be applied to the week in which the game is played. The statistics for postponed games will not be applied to the week the game was originally scheduled. If a postponed game is not made up or cancelled, no statistics for that game will be accumulated. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to adjust the fantasy basketball season to match any changes in the length or schedule of the National Baseball Association season such as a late start, mid-season pause or shortened season.

Statistics Reporting

Scores and statistics are updated immediately as they are received from our statistics provider. Some events beyond RTFS' control can make this time longer. RealTime Fantasy Sports is not responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of the statistics.

Because the statistics are updated "live", some errors may occur. If so, statistical errors are usually corrected by our stats provider during the course of the NBA game, but may take up to 24 hours to be corrected. If an error occurs and is not corrected by our provider, RTFS will correct the stat ourselves, but only if it is overwhelmingly obvious that the stat is in error. If there is any doubt about the validity of the stat, RTFS will maintain the statistic given by its provider.

All statistics for a game are deemed final at midnight ET fourteen (14) days following the day of completion of the game. RTFS still reserves the right to change any statistic for any player at any time for any unforeseen reason.

In all leagues, no statistics from any exhibition game (such as the NBA All-Star game), one-game end of the season tie breaker games, or playoff play-in games shall be used. Statistics from the championship game of the In-Season tournament shall not be used since that game is an "extra" game on the season schedule for the two teams involved. In non-playoff leagues, no statistics from any playoff game shall be used.

RealTime Fantasy Sports is not responsible for any inaccuracies, representations, statements, graphics or content of materials that are uploaded onto its servers and website from other vendors, including but not limited to the National Basketball Association, SportRadar, and users, members, subscribers, customers or participants.

Season

Fantasy Season

For leagues drafting on or before Opening Day, the season will begin with the regular season games on Opening Day. For leagues drafting on or after Opening Day, the league will begin play with the Monday games immediately following the draft. The regular season will include regular season NBA games played through and including those on March 16th, 2025.

The NBA All-Star game, the In-Season Tournament Championship game, and any playoff games are not included in The Contest. The partial week before the NBA All-Star break will be combined with the following full calendar week to create a single fantasy game.

For all leagues beginning play in NBA week 1, the regular season for the league will last 21 weeks from week 1 to week 21. Each team will play every opponent at least twice during the regular season. For leagues beginning play after week 1, the regular season will last through week 21. Each team will play its division opponents twice and as random a selection of non-division opponents as possible. Each team in leagues beginning play in NBA week 1 shall play 20 regular season fantasy games (weeks 17 & 18 are combined into one fantasy game).

If any National Basketball Association team plays ten (10) or more regular season weeks, the season shall be considered a viable fantasy season. Should the NBA season end early for any circumstance, including but not limited to work stoppage, facilities, natural disaster, disease, or terrorism, the contest will end when the National Basketball Association cancels the remainder of of the season. Should the NBA season unexpectly end early, there will be no league playoffs. At that time winners will be declared and prizes awarded by chopping the pot as follows: first, second and third, if applicable, prizes will be pooled and divided equally between the 4 teams in playoff position at the end of the season. RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to shorten the fantasy season for any league should the NBA play shortened schedule.

The fantasy basketball season will mirror the NBA season as closely as possible. The fantasy season will be adjusted to match any later than normal start or a fantasy season shorter than 82 games.

Playoffs

When the fantasy Regular Season ends four teams from the league will make the fantasy playoffs. Playoff participants will be determined as follows:

  1. Two playoff spots go to the winners of each division, based on win/loss record
  2. The remaining two playoff spots (Wildcards) will be filled with the two teams that scored the most regular season points, excluding the division winners.

Any ties for the order of playoff spots will be broken using the following tie-breakers:

  1. Total regular season points scored
  2. Regular season head-to-head win/loss record
  3. Regular season head-to-head points scored

The playoffs will last for 3 weeks. Playoff results and league champion will be determined by total points scored during the playoffs. All playoff teams will begin the playoffs with the average weekly score from the regular season. Teams accumulate points for the entire playoffs.

Playoff teams may set a different lineup for each of the 3 weeks of the playoffs.

The playoffs will not include the last week of the regular season that starts on Apr 7th, 2025.

League Champion

At the conclusion of the fantasy playoffs, the playoff team scoring the most points during the 3 week playoffs will be declared the league winner ("Winner"). The playoff team scoring the second most points will be declared the second place winner (2nd Place").

In the event that teams are tied with the same number of points scored during the entire season, the prize money for tied teams will be combined and distributed evenly amongst the tied teams. For instance if two teams tie for 1st place, the prize money for 1st and 2nd place will be combined and split evenly between the tied teams.

Sportsmanship and Decency

Sportsmanship

By registering, you agree to abide by the general sportsmanship rules set forth in these rules and fantasy games in general. You further agree to accept and abide by the rulings and the decisions of RealTime Fantasy Sports regarding all questions of sportsmanship. Sportsmanship broadly includes actions such as abusive postings and communication, colluding with other teams in the league, deliberately choosing to start incomplete or weak lineups, free agent moves for reasons other than improvement of the owner's fantasy team, and any other actions not conducive to decent, fair, and honest play. If an owner refuses to comply with the sportsmanship rules, or that an owner has acted in an unsportsmanlike manner, RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to disqualify the owner and/or remove that owner from the league without a refund. All decisions by RealTime Fantasy Sports will be final.

Inappropriate, Offensive, or Commercial Communication

The league message boards, league news and league email are provided to facilitate communication with other league owners and enhance the enjoyment of your league. RealTime Fantasy Sports does not permit posting or sending messages or images, to include logos, avatars and team names that could be construed as offensive to other owners. Inappropriate communication can also include spamming team owners with commercial offers and/or posting commercial messages on the league message board. Team owners who violate these guidelines are subject to being restricted from posting in the league. Additionally, RealTime Fantasy Sports reserves the right to disqualify the owner and/or remove that owner from the league without a refund. All decisions by RealTime Fantasy Sports will be final.

All participants are required to abide by the RealTime Fantasy Sports, Inc. (RTFS) Official Policies. RTFS reserves the right to refuse participation for persons violating these terms.

Appeals

Accidental Drops

In season long fantasy contests, should a team accidentally drop a player or drop the incorrect player during a free agent transaction, the team may appeal to have the player reinstated to their team. The appeal for reinstatement must occur immediately, without exception. If the appeal is not submitted immediately, for any reason, the appeal will be denied. Submission of an appeal does not guarantee a ruling in favor of the team submitting the appeal. If the team owner is a repeat offender, deemed to be using the appeal to gain an advantage or the appeal is not submitted immediately, the appeal will be denied. RTFS reserves the right to deny any appeal.

Trades

In leagues that permit trading, owners may request a review of commissioner-approved trades or commissioner-rejected trades. Trade appeals must be submitted immediately after the trade was approved or rejected. If any delay in submission occurs, for any reason, the appeal will be denied. Upon submission of an appeal, the trade will be reviewed by a panel of fantasy experts. Current injuries, bye weeks, season to date performance, team standings, and other factors will be considered. Trades that are overwhelmingly one-sided will be rejected. Trades that are arguably beneficial to both sides or arguably not overwhelmingly one-sided will be allowed to stand. Submission of an appeal does not guarantee a trade will be reversed. RTFS reserves the right to reverse any trade or let any trade stand.

All appeal decisions by RealTime Fantasy Sports are final.
