Brenton Doyle Fri Apr 4 9:00am CT

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle went 1-for-5 with a double in Thursday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies. The double was his first extra base hit of the young season, and hopefully, it will provide a spark to his bat as he's gotten off to a slow start in the power department thus far. On the season, Doyle holds a .240/.296/.280 line, and although he is getting a few hits, he is not getting on base or hitting for the type of power fantasy managers are hoping for. Last season, Doyle enjoyed a solid campaign where he hit .260/.317/.446, so fantasy managers should expect some progression soon. No better time than a trip back home to Coors Field, where the Rockies will take on the Athletics this weekend. Look for Doyle to have a good series this weekend.

Tim Tawa Fri Apr 4 9:00am CT

Arizona Diamondbacks second base prospect Tim Tawa went 2-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and three RBI during their victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday. Tawa's first double brought home Jordan Lawlar and Trey Mancini. Later in the contest, his second double would bring in Trey Mancini for the second time. Tawa has been one of the most productive hitters at the start of the Triple-A campaign. Through six games, he has tallied at least one hit in each of them. During this stretch, he launched three long balls and two doubles, adding a triple with 13 total RBI and eight runs. Last season, Tawa enjoyed similar production during his first 37-game taste of Triple-A as he held a strong .304/.376/.616 slash line with 11 doubles and 10 home runs. He is worth monitoring as he could push an early-season MLB debut if he continues to swing a hot bat.

Jose Alvarado Fri Apr 4 8:50am CT

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Jose Alvarado earned his first save of the season on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies. It certainly wasn't pretty, as it required him to throw 35 pitches in the ninth inning with a 3-0 lead, as he allowed one run on three hits while striking out three. On the bright side, Alvarado was called on for the save over Jordan Romano, who pitched the eighth inning in Thursday's contest. Not to suggest Alvarado has taken over duties as the closer for the Phillies, but seeing him get the opportunity was good for Alvarado fantasy managers. Up next for the Phillies is a weekend series against the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers, followed by a series with the Atlanta Braves. Keep an eye on the Phillies closer situation as the weeks go on.

Logan Henderson Fri Apr 4 8:50am CT

Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Logan Henderson enjoyed a strong bounce-back in his second start. On Thursday, he tossed five shutout frames against the Gwinnett Stripers. He allowed just three hits and five walks. He struck out eight. In his first outing of the campaign, Henderson stumbled against Jacksonville, allowing six hits and five earned runs across five innings of work. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on Henderson's progression as he could be in the mix to join Milwaukee given the extent of injuries in their starting rotation. Last season, Henderson spent most of his time at the Double-A level, where he logged 46 1/3 innings and held a 3.30 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and a stellar 7:58 BB:K. If the 23-year-old continues to produce well at Triple-A, he could enter stash territory.

Nick Lodolo Fri Apr 4 8:40am CT

Cincinnati Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo was extremely efficient in his outing on Thursday, throwing 68 percent of his pitches for strikes against the Brewers. He only needed 82 pitches to get through 6 2/3 innings, racked up four strikeouts, allowed four hits and one unearned run, and struck out four. Although the strikeouts were low, the Brewers came out swinging in this one and were getting themselves out early in the count. Unfortunately for Lodolo, he was tagged with the loss, as the Reds offense could get nothing going against left-hander Nestor Cortes. Tentatively, Lodolo is lined up to face the San Francisco Giants on the road Tuesday next week. Fantasy managers can continue to start the former first-rounder, as he is off to a good start this season through two starts with a 1.42 ERA.

Bubba Chandler Fri Apr 4 8:40am CT

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitching prospect Bubba Chandler tossed two 2/3 scoreless innings during his regular-season debut on Thursday afternoon. Chandler struck out four and served up three free passes. He allowed just one hit. Chandler was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but fell just short in the competition. However, it appears the Pirates are somewhat limiting his workload in the minor leagues, which suggests he may have a significant role in the big leagues when he makes his debut. Last summer, the right-hander logged 39 1/3 innings at Triple-A. He posted a stellar 1.83 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP. He held a 15:54 BB:K and allowed just two long balls. Even though fellow pitching prospect Thomas Harrington got the call to the majors before Chandler, fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his progression as he could be a must-start option when he reaches the Steel City.

Cade Horton Fri Apr 4 8:30am CT

Chicago Cubs pitching prospect Cade Horton struck out six batters across three 1/3 innings of work during his regular-season debut on Thursday evening. Horton allowed just one hit and did not allow a run. This was a strong outing for the top pitching prospect in the Cubs system, as he dealt with numerous injuries last season. In 2024, Horton was only able to log 34 1/3 innings split between Double-A and Triple-A before being shut down with a shoulder strain. He was sharp at Double-A, boasting a stellar 1.10 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP across 16 1/3 innings. However, he took a step back in his first look at Triple-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could turn the corner at the top level this season, given that he is healthy. The former seventh overall pick is a name to closely monitor as he should make his MLB debut later this season. If he were to continue to produce at a high level at Triple-A, it may come sooner than expected.

Ian Seymour Fri Apr 4 8:20am CT

Tampa Bay Rays pitching prospect Ian Seymour matched a career-high as he struck out 10 batters during Thursday's contest against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. However, Seymour took a hard-luck loss as he served up just one run and three hits. His lone blemish came on a Brice Matthews RBI triple in the second frame. Last season, he posted two 10-strikeout performances, one with Double-A Montgomery and the other with Triple-A Durham. Through his first two outings of the campaign, Seymour is enjoying a strong start at Triple-A as he has tossed 10 innings of one-run ball with a stellar 1:15 BB:K. Last summer, the Virginia Tech product made his Triple-A debut and logged 54 innings at that level with a 2.33 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. He is a name to closely monitor as he could be approaching his MLB debut, especially if Shane McClanahan (triceps) misses an extended period of the regular season.

Jeremy Pena Fri Apr 4 8:20am CT

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena blasted a home run in the second inning of the Astros' 5-2 victory on Thursday over the Minnesota Twins. The home run was the second of the young season for Pena, as he is showing some power at the plate early on. The Astros were down by one run at the time, so the home run came at a good time. It tied the game up at two a piece and helped gain the momentum needed to run away with it a few innings later. It was Pena's only hit in the afternoon, as he went 1-for-4 and is underproducing thus far with a .130 batting average. Pena is a career .259 hitter, so fantasy managers should expect better days ahead for the Astros' shortstop. Pena will look to keep it rolling as the Astros finish up their series in Minnesota on Saturday and Sunday.

Samuel Basallo Fri Apr 4 8:10am CT

Baltimore Orioles catching prospect Samuel Basallo went 2-for-4 with a home run during their victory over the Charlotte Knights on Thursday evening. Basallo hit a two-run shot in the sixth frame, which also scored outfielder Dylan Beavers. This was Basallo's second long ball of the Triple-A regular season and first multi-hit outing of the campaign. Through his first six games of the season, Basallo has held a modest .211/.286/.526 slash line with a 2:4 BB:K. The backstop has been exclusively deployed as a designated hitter as he works his way back from elbow inflammation. While he has not been as productive early on, this two-hit performance could spark a turnaround. Last summer, Basallo held a .276/.339/.447 line split between Double-A and Triple-A. The 20-year-old is considered one of the top prospects in the sport and should be in the mix for a second-half MLB debut.

Geraldo Perdomo Fri Apr 4 5:40am CT

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in a 9-7 loss to the New York Yankees on Thursday. Perdomo launched a homer with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to cut the Yankees' lead to 9-7, but that was the last of the scoring for the Diamondbacks in the loss. The veteran infielder is off to a nice start in 2025, picking up eight hits and 11 RBI across 25 at-bats for his team. Perdomo will look to stay hot as Arizona opens up a weekend series against the Washington Nationals on Friday.

    From RotoBaller

Zach Neto Fri Apr 4 5:30am CT

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) homered in a rehab game for Triple-A Salt Lake City on Thursday. Neto opened the season on the injured list after having surgery on his right shoulder last November. He began his rehab assignment on Tuesday and will serve as the team's DH for now as the team has no timetable on when he will be able to play defense. Neto hit 23 homers in 2024 while hitting .249 as he nears a return to the big leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Tony Gonsolin Fri Apr 4 5:30am CT

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin (back) threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out one and walking two in a rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday. Gonsolin landed on the injured list on March 15 with back tightness but appears to be nearing a return to the mound for the big-league club. Gonsolin posted an 8-5 record with a 4.98 ERA in 2023 for the Dodgers before he missed all of the 2024 season after Tommy John surgery.

    From RotoBaller

Joel Payamps Fri Apr 4 5:20am CT

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Joel Payamps tossed a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. Payamps struck out one while needing just 11 pitches to send the Reds down in order in the top of the ninth inning. The veteran reliever has now appeared in four games this season, allowing five runs over three innings of work while striking out three. He will continue to operate in a setup role behind closer Trevor Megill in the Milwaukee pen.

    From RotoBaller

Kristian Campbell Fri Apr 4 5:20am CT

Boston Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in an 8-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. Campbell launched a two-run homer off Baltimore starter Charlie Morton in the second inning to give the Red Sox a 4-1 lead in the early going. The 22-year-old second baseman is off to a hot start in 2025, picking up 10 hits in 24 at-bats, including two homers and four doubles. Campbell should be a regular consideration in fantasy lineups while he's swinging a hot bat.

    From RotoBaller

Nestor Cortes Fri Apr 4 5:10am CT

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Nestor Cortes Jr. turned in a quality start in a 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. Cortes tossed six shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out six and walking two to earn his first win of the season. The veteran hurler evened his record at 1-1 after a rough season debut against the New York Yankees that saw him cough up eight runs in two innings. Cortes will look to stay in the win column in his next start.

    From RotoBaller

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Fri Apr 4 5:00am CT

New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, a steal, and a walk in a 9-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Chisholm's two-run shot came off Arizona starter Merrill Kelly in the fourth inning to give the Yankees their eighth and ninth runs of the game. The veteran infielder is off to a red-hot start this season, hitting .292 with four homers, six runs, eight RBI, and one steal over 24 at-bats. Chisholm has shown an uptick in power since joining the Yankees as he hit 11 homers in 46 games after being acquired from the Miami Marlins during the 2024 season. He should remain locked into fantasy lineups moving forward.

    From RotoBaller

Trent Grisham Fri Apr 4 5:00am CT

New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham had a big night in a 9-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Grisham went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, and three RBI to help lead New York to the win. Grisham's homer was a two-run blast off Arizona starter Merrill Kelly in the third inning while his other RBI came on a double in the first inning. The veteran outfielder has been swinging a hot bat in limited playing time for the Yankees this season as he has five hits in 10 at-bats thus far. He will look to stay hot as the Yankees open up a weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

    From RotoBaller

Luke Weaver Fri Apr 4 4:50am CT

New York Yankees right-hander Luke Weaver picked up the final four outs to preserve a 9-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Weaver held the Diamondbacks scoreless while notching one strikeout to pick up his first save of the season. The veteran hurler usually operates in a set-up role but was called upon to get the save with regular closer Devin Williams away on paternity leave. Williams is expected to return on Friday, which will bump Weaver back to his normal spot. That being said, Weaver is worth a look in fantasy leagues that reward reliever holds. Weaver has now appeared in two games this season, tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts for the Yankees.

    From RotoBaller

Aaron Judge Fri Apr 4 4:40am CT

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge turned in another big game in a 9-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Judge went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, two runs, and four RBI in helping power the Yankees to the win. The veteran reached 500 extra-base hits for his career with a three-run homer in the first inning. Overall, Judge is off to a red-hot start, hitting .417 with three doubles, five homers, and 15 RBI thus far. He needs to remain locked into fantasy lineups moving forward.
