Los Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Guardians. This was his fourth straight game with a homer, and he is now slashing .345/.367/.862 with five homers in seven games this year. He put his power on full display during his rookie season in 2024, hitting 20 long balls in 136 games. That type of power potential is rare for catchers, and now it looks like the former top prospect is taking another step forward. He is a must-start fantasy catcher in all formats going forward.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez did his best to carry the offense in Sunday's 8-7 loss to the Phillies, hitting two home runs and a double. He scored twice and drove in five RBI. He's now up to four homers, 13 RBI, seven runs, and two steals on the season through 45 plate appearances. He is a force in the middle of that Dodgers lineup, and he's picking up right where he left off in 2024 when he slashed .272/.339/.501 with 33 home runs. One of the game's premier sluggers with sneaky speed, Hernandez looks primed to deliver another top-20 outfield performance for fantasy.
From RotoBaller
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio had a huge day at the plate in an 8-2 win over the Reds, hitting two homers and driving in five runs. The former top prospect started the season very cold but is now starting to turn things around. He is slashing .295/.289/.591 with three home runs, nine RBI, and six runs. He is looking to build off of his excellent rookie season where he hit .275 with 21 homers and 22 steals in 148 games. The youngster has a mix of power and speed that is extremely rare and could be a first-round draft pick in fantasy by 2026.
From RotoBaller
Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen is expected to be promoted to the major-league roster on Tuesday, with outfielder Jordan Beck being optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. It was a surprise when Veen didn't make the team on Opening Day after slashing .270/.352/.460 with two home runs and nine stolen bases in 71 plate appearances this spring, but now he is finally getting his chance. In 2024, he hit .258 with 11 home runs and 21 steals in 65 minor league games and is an intriguing young prospect who will play half of his games at Coors Field. He had a hot start in Triple-A to begin the season, batting .444 through seven games, and he'll hope to carry that moment into the big leagues. He's worth a speculative add in case he finds his footing quickly, as his skill set is very fantasy-friendly.
From RotoBaller
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Ivan Herrera (knee) will require a trip to the injured list, according to manager Oliver Marmol. Herrera left the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with a knee injury after running the bases, and he has been officially diagnosed with left knee inflammation. Test results showed no structural damage, but the catcher will still need some time to recover. This is unfortunate news for someone who was extremely hot at the dish, slashing .400/.455/1.100 in the early going of 2025. He's worth stashing if you have an open IL spot in fantasy, as it looked like a true breakout season was coming for the young hitter.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles (arm) made an incredible catch while colliding with the netting in the ninth inning of Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Giants but injured himself in the process. He immediately went down in pain and had to be carted off the field. There has been no official injury designation yet from the team, but he appeared to be holding his left wrist as he left the game. It's unfortunate news for the speedy outfielder, who put it all on the line to make one of the best catches of the season. He was batting .273 with three RBI, three runs, and three stolen bases so far in 2025. Expect updates from the Mariners in the coming days with more details about the severity of the injury.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Carlos Estevez was ready to redeem himself after struggling on the mound during his last outing. Estevez was called upon to hold a three-run lead against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. The 32-year-old didn't have any issues as he tossed a scoreless inning with one strikeout to secure his second save of the season. It appears that Estevez is going to be the primary option for saves this season. However, Lucas Erceg could be a candidate as well if Estevez finds himself in trouble at some point. For now, Estevez should be a viable option for saves in fantasy formats where that matters.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was a tough out at the plate during Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Witt went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and run scored in the victory over the O's. This marked Witt's first three-hit game of the season and it likely won't be his last. Witt has collected a hit in every game, but one so far this season. The 24-year-old is one of the best hitters in the league and should make a case for MVP this season. He hasn't been an elite fantasy option early in the season, but this game could be Witt finally turning the corner.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic made easy work of the Baltimore Orioles during Sunday's contest. The southpaw carried his success from the season opener into this game. He tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run, while striking out eight batters in the win. Bubic did allow five hits, but the O's hitters weren't able to do much with the runners. He has been showing good control with his secondary pitches, so continuing to do that will be crucial for him. Bubic is well worth a look as a streaming option for his next start against the Cleveland Guardians.
From RotoBaller
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle put together a strong day at the plate during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals. This offense wasn't able to do much, but Mountcastle was still able to have a successful game. He went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple and a run scored in what ended up being a 4-1 loss. Mountcastle has been red-hot as he's 5-for-9 over his last two games. The O's are loaded with talented hitters, so it's unclear if Mountcastle will really be an everyday player anymore. However, the O's can't bench him if he continues to hit like he has early in the season. Mountcastle isn't a must-have fantasy player, but he certainly has opened some eyes with his performances lately.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jackson Jobe looked better on the mound than he did for his season debut. Jobe tossed five innings, allowing two earned runs, three walks, and striking out four batters in the no-decision. The 22-year-old still struggled with his command, but luckily he was facing a subpar White Sox lineup. Jobe would've been handed the loss if his team didn't come back in the ninth inning. Jobe has a ton of potential and appears to be heading in the right direction. However, he's far from a must-start during his next start against the Minnesota Twins.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson was struggling at the plate, but he came up clutch for his team during this game. Torkelson was hitless with one strikeout until he came up in the ninth inning. He smacked a two-RBI double to help give his team the lead in the final frame. It seemed like coming into this season that the Tigers were nearly ready to give up on the former first-overall pick. So far, Torkelson is slashing .324/.439/.618 with two homers and six RBI in the first nine games. He'll likely continue to pick up steam on the waiver wire, assuming his hot streak at the plate continues.
From RotoBaller
New York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz was called upon to hold a one-run lead against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The right-hander had no issues as he tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record his second save of the season. Diaz needed only 10 pitches to finish off three batters as he allowed zero baserunners. It's nice to see Diaz settling down after he struggled with his command during spring training. Fantasy managers can continue safely plugging Diaz into their lineups on a daily basis.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis (hamstring) has been hitting and doing some light running, according to the team's president of baseball operations Derek Falvey. He noted that there is no change in his status, so Lewis appears to still be on the same timetable as before. Lewis was given a 6-to-8 week timetable and is currently in his third week of recovery from a left hamstring strain. The Twins are going to continue being cautious with their young slugger. Fantasy managers who continue to stash Lewis might end up having to wait the full length of the recovery timetable. Willi Castro figures to continue seeing increased playing time over at third base while Lewis is out.
From RotoBaller
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Martin Perez is looking like a nice addition to this pitching staff early in the season. Perez took a no-hitter into the seventh inning during his first start with his new team. On Sunday, Perez went 6 1/3 innings, allowing four hits, one earned run, and struck out four batters in the no-decision. Perez was in line for the win until the White Sox blew the lead in the ninth inning. Fantasy managers in need of pitching help should look towards Perez. However, he'll get a tough start against the Boston Red Sox in his next start.
From RotoBaller
Houston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez (illness) might not be available for his next turn in the rotation, which is on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners. Astros manager Joe Espada said the team is listing their starters for Tuesday and Wednesday as TBA for now. General manager Dana Brown said Valdez is dealing with some fatigue and a sore throat. It sounds like the Astros are going to wait and see how Valdez feels in a day or two before making a final decision on his status. Hunter Brown is scheduled to take the mound on Wednesday, but he could see his start pushed back depending on what happens with Valdez. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update in a day or so.
From RotoBaller
Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi (groin) was forced to exit early during Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Benintendi appeared to hindered by something after scoring in the first inning. He took his next at-bat, but was later taken out for a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning. Shortly after that, the White Sox announced that Benintendi is dealing with an adductor issue. For now, Benintendi is considered day-to-day, but sometimes these types of issues have a tendency to linger. The White Sox are off on Monday, so we'll see if Benintendi is feeling better in time for Tuesday's game.
From RotoBaller
New York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson (undisclosed) was removed from Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a potential injury. The southpaw threw four scoreless innings allowing only two hits. However, Peterson appeared to tweak his back in the fifth inning and that's where it unraveled for him. He walked two batters and hit another batter before Mets manager Carlos Mendoza removed him from the contest. If he's fine, Peterson would be in line to start against the Athletics next week. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for an update following Sunday's game.
From RotoBaller
Seattle Mariners infielder Jorge Polanco (knee) is dealing with soreness in his left knee and will be held out of the starting nine on Sunday afternoon. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Monday evening against the Houston Astros. Polanco underwent surgery on his knee last October but did not deal with too many issues during camp. However, the team will opt to exercise caution during the early part of the campaign. Instead, Dylan Moore will start at the hot corner, and Ryan Bliss will get the nod at the keystone. Through his first five games of the season, Polanco has enjoyed a strong start, posting a .450/.476/.750 slash line with two home runs and eight RBI. Polanco remains a solid depth infielder in deeper formats, given his strong start to the season.
From RotoBaller
St. Louis Cardinals catcher Ivan Herrera (foot) was removed from Sunday's contest against the Boston Red Sox. According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, the backstop needed assistance to leave the field. He was unable to put weight on his foot. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status but should not expect him to be in the starting lineup for the second half of the back-to-back on Sunday evening. Herrera has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, posting a .400/.455/1.100 slash line with two doubles and four round-trippers. He has brought in 11 runs and scored six times. If Herrera were to miss an extended period of time, fantasy managers should expect Pedro Pages to operate as the primary backstop in St. Louis.
