Scott Blewett Sun Apr 20 8:40pm CT

Relief pitcher Scott Blewett was traded to the Atlanta Braves from the Orioles in exchange for cash considerations on Sunday. He was previously designated for assignment by Baltimore and will now be looking to contribute to a solid Atlanta bullpen. He's pitched nine innings in four appearances so far this year, allowing one earned run while striking out 11 and walking one. He's been effective at eating innings, as he's gotten more than six outs in three out of his four appearances. It's unclear if he will start in Triple-A or head straight to the big-league club, but he will likely assume a middle relief role in that bullpen.

Justin Martinez Sun Apr 20 8:30pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Justin Martinez was not available on Sunday due to fatigue and a heavy workload, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Arizona won 3-2 in an 11-inning game against the Cubs, so it raised some alarms when Martinez never saw the field. It's still odd for him to be dealing with fatigue, considering he hasn't pitched in a game since Thursday, so the situation is worth monitoring. This would be bad timing if it is a more serious injury, as Martinez just became the full-time closer with A.J. Puk landing on the injured list with left elbow inflammation.

Agustin Ramirez Sun Apr 20 8:20pm CT

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez is being recalled to the major league roster and is expected to make his debut against the Reds this homestand, according to Craig Mish. The top prospect was slashing .258/.320/.500 with three home runs and five stolen bases in Triple-A, which are numbers that will certainly play at a weak position. In 126 games between Double-A and Triple-A in 2024, he hit .267 with 25 home runs and 22 steals. That type of power and speed is extremely rare for a catcher, making him worth an add in all two-catcher leagues.

Luis Arraez Sun Apr 20 7:10pm CT

San Diego Padres designated hitter Luis Arraez (undisclosed) exited his team's outing against the Houston Astros in the first inning on Sunday. Arraez was involved in a scary collision at first base after attempting to bunt teammate Fernando Tatis Jr. to second base. The 28-year-old hustled down the line to beat out the throw and collided with Astros' second baseman Mauricio Dubon, who was covering on the play. It appeared that Arraez crashed into Dubon's shoulder and immediately crumpled to the ground. Eventually, his head and neck were stabilized, and he was carted off. Reportedly, the All-Star DH was transported to Houston Methodist Hospital, and his condition is stable. He is responsive and has control of his extremities. Expect an update on his status soon.

Tyler Glasnow Sun Apr 20 4:30pm CT

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow (leg) exited Sunday's 1-0 win against the Texas Rangers with lower leg cramps. Glasnow was pulled from Sunday's start after just one pitch in the fifth inning. The 31-year-old allowed three hits and one walk with six strikeouts over four scoreless innings before being removed from Sunday's contest. The trainers checked him out in the fourth inning, but he initially stayed in the game before being pulled in the fifth frame. Glasnow is dealing with lower leg cramps and appears to have avoided a serious injury. The Dodgers' right-hander is considered day-to-day. He owns a 3.71 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts across four starts in 2024. Glasnow will get a few days off, but should be able to make his next scheduled start next Sunday at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Zach Agnos Sun Apr 20 1:50pm CT

The Colorado Rockies have promoted right-handed pitching prospect Zach Agnos to the major leagues. In a corresponding move, the Rockies have placed right-handed pitcher Victor Vodnik (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list. Agnos was in the mix to make the roster out of camp, but fell short in the competition. However, the Eastern Carolina product is being rewarded with an early promotion. Earlier this season, Agnos logged his first eight innings with Triple-A and held a strong 2.25 ERA with a 0.75 WHIP. During this brief stretch, he struck out 10 batters and tallied two saves. Last summer, he spent time with High-A and Double-A and logged 52 1/3 innings to the tune of a 1.38 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP. During this stint, he tallied 63 punchouts and added 17 saves. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status as he could compete for save opportunities over Seth Halvorsen.

Victor Vodnik Sun Apr 20 1:40pm CT

The Colorado Rockies have placed right-handed pitcher Victor Vodnik (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list retroactive to April 17 due to right shoulder inflammation. Vodnik last appeared in a contest on April 16. Through the early part of the campaign, Vodnik has been deployed as a high-leverage arm in the Colorado bullpen. Across eight innings of work, the right-hander has held a 4.50 ERA with a 1.63 WHIP. Vodnik has tallied one save and held an 8:6 K:BB. He has generated a hefty 7.26 xERA with a .282 xBA, which suggests he should face some significant regression when he returns to the bump. In a corresponding move, the Rockies promoted right-handed pitching prospect Zach Agnos from Triple-A. While Vodnik is out, Seth Halvorsen should see most of the save opportunities.

Josh Lowe Sun Apr 20 1:30pm CT

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Josh Lowe (oblique) took 20 dry swings on Saturday and did not feel any pain in his oblique. Ryan Bass of the Tampa Bay Rays reported that the outfielder hopes to begin hitting off a tee next week if he continues to progress. This is an excellent sign for the 27-year-old as he has been on the injured list since March 29 due to a right oblique strain. Fantasy managers should monitor his progress as he could face live pitching in the coming weeks if he does not face any setbacks. Before the injury, the 27-year-old appeared in just one contest and tallied one hit. Last season, Lowe was limited by injuries as well, appearing in just 106 games and posting a .241/.302/.391 slash line. When Lowe does return, he will likely have an everyday role in right field.

    From RotoBaller

Blake Treinen Sun Apr 20 1:20pm CT

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen (forearm) is dealing with a low-grade sprain and will begin a "conservative" rehab. The reliever will not have to undergo surgery. This is an excellent sign as Treinen was placed on the 15-day injured list with a forearm injury on Saturday. However, it appears the 36-year-old has avoided a significant injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he slowly increases his workload. Through the early part of the campaign, the right-hander has held a 3.38 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP across eight innings of work. He has struck out 10 batters, tallied three holds, and earned two saves. He has generated a strong 3.47 xERA with a stellar 31.8 percent hard-hit rate. While the right-hander remains out, Tanner Scott should see the bulk of the save opportunities with Kirby Yates and Alex Vesia mixing in.

Jack Leiter Sun Apr 20 1:10pm CT

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jack Leiter (finger) will make a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday. Leiter has been on the 15-day injured list due to a blister on his finger. However, it appears the former No. 2 overall pick is nearing a return to the big leagues. The Vanderbilt was able to earn a spot in the Opening Day rotation and enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, holding a 0.90 ERA and a 0.70 WHIP across 10 innings of work (two starts). During this stretch, he tallied 10 punchouts and served up just one walk. Last summer, Leiter made his MLB debut and experienced some growing pains, posting an 8.83 ERA and a 1.73 WHIP. If Leiter's rehab outing goes well, he could be eligible to return to action at the end of next week.

Eugenio Suarez Sun Apr 20 1:00pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez is not in Sunday's lineup when they conclude a series against the Chicago Cubs. Suarez has started in each of the first 21 games of the regular season. During this stretch, the power-hitting third baseman has held a .145/.253/.421 slash line with three doubles and six home runs. He enjoyed an impressive start, holding a .250/.379/.919 line with five long balls across the first seven games. Over his last 14 games, he has posted a rough .096 AVG. Fantasy managers should expect the 33-year-old to return to the starting nine on Tuesday, when they host the Tampa Bay Rays. As a result, Garrett Hampson will cover the hot corner on Sunday afternoon and bat in the nine-hole.

    From RotoBaller

Brayan Bello Sun Apr 20 12:50pm CT

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello (shoulder) is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners. Bello has been sidelined through the early part of the campaign due to a strained shoulder. He was able to log 14 innings of work in his rehab assignment with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. Across this stint, the right-hander held a 7.07 ERA with a 1.57 WHIP. He showed strong command of his pitches as he allowed just four walks and struck out an impressive 21 batters. Last summer, Bello logged a career-high 162 1/3 innings of work and held a 4.49 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. He struck out 133 batters and generated a modest 4.56 xERA. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should check their waiver wire and grab Bello ahead of his season debut.

    J.T. Realmuto Sun Apr 20 12:30pm CT

Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will get the day off on Sunday when the Phillies conclude a series against the Miami Marlins. Realmuto has started in each of the previous eight games. During this stretch, he has held a .200/.273/.333 slash line with one double and one home run. Fantasy managers should expect the veteran backstop to return to the starting nine on Monday evening when the Phillies begin a series in Queens against the Mets. Through 18 games this season, the 34-year-old has held a .234/.315/.338 slash line with four runs and six RBI. Instead, Rafael Marchan will be behind the dish and catching for Jesus Luzardo. He will bat ninth and should not be targeted in any DFS competitions.

    From RotoBaller

Ben Rice Sun Apr 20 12:20pm CT

New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice (elbow) is not in Sunday's lineup when the Yankees conclude a series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Rice was removed from Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch in his elbow. After the contest, Rice underwent imaging, but the results were negative. Fantasy managers should continue to view Rice as day-to-day as he may be cleared to return on Monday when they start a series against the Cleveland Guardians. Rice has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, holding a .292/.403/.600 slash line with three doubles, one triple, and five long balls. He has tallied nine RBI and held an 18:10 K:BB. The 26-year-old has generated an impressive .477 xwOBA, .337 xBA, and a .696 xSLG, which are well above the average marks. On Sunday, Aaron Judge will shift to the DH spot. If Rice were to remain out on Monday, Judge will likely continue to operate as the team's designated hitter.

Chase Meidroth Sun Apr 20 12:20pm CT

The Chicago White Sox have scratched infield prospect Chase Meidroth (thumb) due to a thumb injury. The 23-year-old was initially listed as the starting shortstop and was batting in the leadoff spot. Meidroth was promoted to the major leagues earlier this week and was in the starting lineup in each of the previous eight games. During his first taste of the big leagues, Meidroth has posted a .269/.387/.269 line with a seven total hits (all singles) with a 4:5 K:BB. Fantasy managers should monitor Meidroth's status leading up to their game against the Red Sox on Monday. This afternoon, Meidroth will be replaced by Jacob Amaya, and he will bat in the nine-hole. Meidroth is worth targeting on waivers in deeper formats this week as he appears to have an everyday spot in the lineup.

    From RotoBaller

Wyatt Langford Sun Apr 20 12:10pm CT

The Texas Rangers have activated outfielder Wyatt Langford (oblique) from the 10-day injured list. In a corresponding move, the Rangers optioned Ezequiel Duran to Triple-A Round Rock. Langford has been out of action since April 8 with this minor injury. The outfielder participated in two rehab outings with Double-A Frisco before being activated. However, Langford is not in Sunday's lineup when the Rangers conclude a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Through his first 12 games of the campaign, Langford has held a .244/.333/.561 slash line with one double and four long balls. Under the hood, he generated a strong .386 xwOBA and a .559 xSLG. Fantasy managers should expect Langford to return to the starting nine next week. When he does return, he could take playing time away from Josh Smith in left field.

    From RotoBaller

Griffin Conine Sun Apr 20 11:00am CT

The Miami Marlins have placed outfielder Griffin Conine (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list due to a dislocated left shoulder. Conine suffered this injury when sliding into second base during Saturday's contest. The 27-year-old was swinging a hot bat during the early part of the campaign as he held an impressive .281/.352/.438 slash line. He went deep once and added seven doubles, which are the seventh most in the National League. Under the hood, the Duke product generated a strong 15.6 percent barrel rate and a 51.1 percent hard-hit rate, which placed him in the 83rd and 81st percentiles, respectively. Fantasy managers in deeper NL-only formats should consider stashing Conine on their IR if they have room, as he will continue to have an everyday role in the Miami lineup when he returns to action. With Conine sidelined, Jesus Sanchez should see time in left field, which will open up the DH spot for Eric Wagman or Graham Pauley.

    From RotoBaller

Sean Murphy Sun Apr 20 10:40am CT

Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy is taking a seat on Sunday when the Braves play the final game in their series against the Minnesota Twins. Murphy has been in the starting lineup in each of their previous seven contests. Instead, he will cede catching duties to young backstop Drake Baldwin, who will bat in the seven-hole. Since returning from a rib injury, Murphy has enjoyed a solid start to his campaign, holding a .200/.333/.543 slash line with four long balls, eight RBI, and a 15:4 K:BB. He has generated an impressive .363 xwOBA, which suggests he should continue to see significant positive regression when he returns to the starting nine. Fantasy managers should expect Murphy to return to the lineup on Monday evening when they host the Cardinals. Baldwin is best to fade in DFS facing right-hander Joe Ryan.

    From RotoBaller

Brandon Marsh Sun Apr 20 10:30am CT

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed outfielder Brandon Marsh (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain. Marsh has been unable to play in their previous three contests and will now face a longer absence. Before his injury, Marsh was in a slump at the plate, tallying just four hits, including one home run, across 17 contests. During this stretch, he held a high 31.4 percent strikeout rate with a low .387 OPS. While Marsh remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Johan Rojas to continue to see time as the everyday center fielder in Philadelphia. Last season, Marsh was productive as he held a .249/.328/.419 line. However, given his slow start, fantasy managers in shallower formats should not consider stashing Marsh while he is on the IL.

    From RotoBaller

Oneil Cruz Sun Apr 20 10:20am CT

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz is not in Sunday's lineup when they conclude a series against the Cleveland Guardians. Cruz has been in the starting nine in each of the previous seven contests and will get a much-needed day off. During this stretch, the 26-year-old has posted a .269/.367/.654 slash line with one double, three home runs, and three stolen bases. Through 19 games this season, Cruz has held a .234/.363/.500 slash line with five long balls and 10 stolen bases. Under the hood, he has generated an elite 20.5 percent barrel rate and a 54.5 percent hard-hit rate, which are both well above the average marks, which suggests his power production should continue to climb during the summer. Fantasy managers should expect Cruz to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Angels. This afternoon, Alexander Canario will cover center field and bat in the five-hole.
