Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tanner Scott pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in a 5-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday. Scott allowed a pair of hits and struck out one in his inning of work. The lefty now has a 3.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP and has gone 5-for-6 in his save opportunities. He appears to be the clear favorite for saves in LA, although Dave Roberts tends to change his bullpen usage more than other managers. Still, on a dominant LA team, Scott could be near the top of the league in saves this season if he can stay healthy and continue pitching well.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Dustin May continued his strong start to the season on Monday, tossing six innings of one-run ball against the Colorado Rockies in a 5-3 win. May allowed just three hits and perhaps more importantly walked zero while striking out seven. The 27-year-old has been solid so far this year, but he did walk three in each of his first two starts, so his improved control in this one was good to see. After an injury-plagued 2024, the Dodgers will likely limit May's pitch counts, which limits his fantasy value. He should still be rostered in most leagues, as he has a good chance to help with ratios and could pick up some wins if he can be efficient with his pitches.
From RotoBaller
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray dominated the Houston Astros on Monday, hurling seven shutout frames in an 8-3 victory. Gray allowed just three hits and a walk while punching out four, earning his third win of the season in the process. Gray moves to 3-0 with a 3.13 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 23 IP after this one. When the righty is on his game, he can be one of the better pitchers in the league, and he is proving that again early in the season. Gray is absolutely a must-start option in fantasy right now, but could be considered a sell-high given his inconsistencies and injury history.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Grant Holmes picked up his first win of the season on Monday, pitching 7 innings of three-run ball in a 9-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Holmes allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out four in this one. It was the first time this season that Holmes went even five innings, and after back-to-back starts with four walks, he showcased much-improved control. The 29-year-old has shown flashes of ability in the past, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him emerge as a decent fantasy option. For now, however, he remains just a streamer and deep-league option.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal delivered a stellar performance on Monday, tossing seven shutout innings in a 9-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Skubal allowed just four hits, issued no walks, and struck out nine in this one. He didn't allow his first hit until the fifth inning, and the Brewers really didn't stand a chance all night. The reigning Cy Young winner now has a 2.66 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 23 IP as he continues to be one of the games best pitchers. He is arguably the most valuable pitcher in fantasy.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts delivered a solid overall performance on Monday, going 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Betts hit a two-run homer in the first inning to set the tone for the Dodgers. The 32-year-old has been his usual self so far this season, hitting .304 with a .954 OPS and four homers. The only downside so far has been his lack of speed, with only one stolen base to his name. He should continue to be an elite contributor in fantasy, and it helps that he is hitting in one of the best lineups in baseball.
From RotoBaller
San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. delivered a standout performance on Monday, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBIs in a 10-;4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Tatis launched a solo shot in the third inning and followed up with a two-run homer in the eighth as he continued to torch the ball early in the season. This performance elevated Tatis's season stats to a .361 average, six home runs, 16 runs scored, 12 RBIs, and six stolen bases. Tatis is a five-category stud, and with the way he is playing right now he could end up being one of the best players for fantasy this season.
From RotoBaller
New York Yankees closer Devin Williams picked up his second save of the season in Monday's 4-1 win over the Royals. Williams came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three. He allowed a leadoff single to Bobby Witt Jr., got the first out on a pop-out, allowed a walk, and got the final two outs on another pop-out and a line-out. Things have not gone smoothly for the 30-year-old in his first season with his new team, as he has converted both of his save opportunities but has a 7.20 ERA, seven strikeouts, and six walks in just five innings of work. Williams has been one of fantasy's most reliable relief pitchers throughout his career and was traded for to fill a closing void for the Yankees, so fantasy managers should remain patient with him early on.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco Giants second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald got the hard parts done but could not hit for the cycle in Monday's 10-4 win over the Phillies. Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a three-run home run, and a strikeout. The 27-year-old took a second-inning Taijuan Walker cutter over the left-field wall for his first long ball of the season. Fitzgerald has continued to flash the power-speed combo that garnered fantasy attention in 2024, slashing .286/.333/.476 with four RBI and four stolen bases in 47 plate appearances. He has also cut down on the strikeouts, posting a 21.3% strikeout rate after striking out at a poor 31.7% clip in 2024. He has hit at the bottom of the lineup, but the Giants have gotten off to a hot start, helping boost Fitzgerald's fantasy appeal in at least all roto leagues.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kameron Misner got in on the action in Monday's 16-1 win over the Red Sox. Misner went 3-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, a two-run HR, and a walk. The 27-year-old drove a second-inning Tanner Houck breaking pitch over the left-center wall to score two and finished the scoring parade in the eighth inning, taking a Brennan Bernardino breaking pitch just over the right-field wall. Misner came into the season with no fantasy hype but has produced at a high level early on, slashing .400/.444/.775 with three HR, nine RBI, and a stolen base in 45 plate appearances. He has never produced extraordinary minor-league numbers, but fantasy managers could potentially turn to him as a spark plug for their lineups in the short term.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Shane Baz brought swing-and-miss stuff once again in Monday's 16-1 drubbing of the Red Sox. Baz pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits (including a solo home run) and no walks with 11 strikeouts. The 25-year-old now has double-digit strikeouts in two of his three starts, culminating in a 2-0 record with a 1.42 ERA, a 12.79 K/9 rate, and a 1.89 BB/9 rate in 19 IP. His curveball has been one of his best swing-and-miss pitches, and he has thrown it nearly 15% more often in 2025 compared to 2024. He will be put to the test in his next scheduled start against the Yankees, but he has been so hot that fantasy managers may find the potential reward worth the risk of starting him.
From RotoBaller
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado continued his strong offensive start to the season in Monday's 8-3 win over the Astros. Arenado went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a solo home run, and two RBI. The 33-year-old punished a seventh-inning Luis Contreras middle-middle fastball, launching it into the left-field bullpen. Arenado seems to have left his awkward off-season with the Cardinals' front office in the past, slashing .316/.409/.526 with two HR and nine RBI in his first 66 plate appearances. His slugging percentage has been up after last season's disappointing production, although, like last season, he has not hit the ball very hard.
From RotoBaller
Houston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez turned in his second disappointing start of the season in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Cardinals. Valdez pitched four innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and a walk with three strikeouts. The 31-year-old has been uncharacteristically inconsistent in his first four starts of the season, allowing no combined runs in two of them and 11 combined earned runs in his other two. Overall, he is now 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA, a 9.82 K/9 rate, and a 3.27 BB/9 rate in 22 IP. Valdez's next matchup will be a tough one against the Padres. While fantasy managers may have drafted Valdez as high as their rotation ace, they may consider sitting him if they have other options, at least in roto leagues.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley continued to get things going offensively in Monday's 8-4 win over the Blue Jays. Riley went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a three-run HR. The 28-year-old crushed a third-inning Easton Lucas fastball over the center-field wall to score two and obliterated a fifth-inning Lucas slider deep into the center-field seats to score three. After collecting just two hits in March, Riley has looked like his old self and is now slashing .288/.329/.530 with four HR and 11 RBI in 70 plate appearances. Hopefully, he can help drive a turnaround for a Braves' lineup that is still struggling overall.
From RotoBaller
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Endy Rodriguez (finger) was forced to exit early during Monday's game against the Washington Nationals. Rodriguez was removed after being hit in the wrist by a deflected ball. Ouch, the Pirates can't afford to lose another catcher with Joey Bart (back) injured as well. The team is calling Rodriguez day-to-day with a right index finger laceration. Henry Davis took over behind the plate on Monday and figures to see more playing time with the team shorthanded at catcher. It doesn't sound like Rodriguez or Bart will require a trip to the injured list.
From RotoBaller
Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (quad) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Doyle will now miss his fourth game in a row due to left quad tightness. For now, Doyle is being tagged as day-to-day, but the organization should consider placing him on the injured list. Doyle reportedly experienced soreness in his quad while running on Monday. It doesn't sound like he's healthy enough to get back on the field yet. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Doyle who is hitting .321 with three homers and 12 RBI this season. Mickey Moniak will cover center field and bat sixth versus right-hander Dustin May on Monday.
From RotoBaller
Colorado Rockies third baseman Kris Bryant (back) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday, retroactive April 13. Rockies manager Bud Black said he expects Bryant to only require the minimum stint on the injured list. Bryant is dealing with lumbar degenerative disc disease, which does sound serious. The organization believes it's something he'll need to manage, but he can continue his playing career. Bryant has been a non-factor in terms of fantasy baseball since signing with the Rockies in 2022. He can remain on the waiver wire in basically all fantasy formats, but hopefully Bryant can resume playing at some point this season. The expectation is Kyle Farmer will see more playing time with Bryant sidelined.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (illness) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Hernandez is currently day-to-day with a stomach bug. This doesn't sound like something that is going to force Hernandez to be placed on the injured list. In his absence, Andy Pages will cover right field while Tommy Edman takes over in center field versus right-hander Antonio Senzatela. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Hernandez who is slashing .281/.309/.563 with seven home runs and 16 RBI this season.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (wrist) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the San Diego Padres. Suzuki is set to miss his second game in a row due to a right wrist issue that he suffered during Saturday's contest. For now, Suzuki should be considered as day-to-day, but it wouldn't be shocking if he ends up on the injured list. Justin Turner will serve as the designated hitter and bat third against right-hander Dylan Cease on Monday. Turner hasn't done enough with the bat this season to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Cubs catcher Carson Kelly (wrist) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the San Diego Padres. Kelly was hit on the wrist by a pitch during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was forced to exit the contest and undergo X-rays to determine the severity of the injury. It appears Kelly has avoided any major injuries to his wrist. For now, Wrist should be considered as day-to-day, but he could land on the injured list if he doesn't get better in a few days. Miguel Amaya will do the catching and bat eighth versus right-hander Dylan Cease on Monday.
