The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Andrew Benintendi (groin) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 7) on Wednesday and recalled outfielder Greg Jones from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. The White Sox also agreed to a minor-league deal with Travis Jankowski for additional outfield depth. The White Sox initially didn't believe Benintendi's left-groin strain was very serious, but the 30-year-old wasn't feeling as good as they thought he would, leading them to send him for more tests on Tuesday. It's a tough break for Benintendi, who had gotten off to a good start with a .290 average (9-for-31) with two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored in nine games played. Michael Taylor is starting in left field for the White Sox in Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians, but Brooks Baldwin should also see playing time there with Benintendi on the shelf.

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada (thumb) is back at third base and is hitting sixth on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Ryan Pepiot at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Moncada will return to the field after missing the team's last three games due to a thumb injury that he first injured near the end of spring training. The 29-year-old Cuban switch-hitter has opened the year as the Halos' primary third baseman, but he's going to need to pick it up on the offensive end to continue seeing regular at-bats. In his first seven games this year, Moncada has gone 4-for-20 with two doubles, four RBI, three runs scored, six walks and seven strikeouts in 26 plate appearances. He has never faced Pepiot in his career and won't be a recommended DFS lineup play in his first game back from a thumb injury.

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas (wrist) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the division-rival Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field after suffering a bruised right wrist when he was hit by a pitch in the team's home opener on Tuesday. X-rays came back negative on Thomas' wrist, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Check back to see if he's able to return to the lineup for the series finale against Chicago on Thursday. Nolan Jones will move to center field and bat sixth, while Jhonkensy Noel is starting in right field and hitting fifth on Wednesday against White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. Thomas has gone just 5-for-30 (.167) in the early going with two RBI and a steal, so perhaps the day off will do him well. Noel has similarly struggled with only one hit and an RBI in his first 17 at-bats of 2025. He's hitless in just one career at-bat against Burke.

Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (upper body) is dealing with what manager Brandon Hyde called an "upper-body injury" and will get the day off on Wednesday in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. It's the same issue that prompted Hyde to sit Westburg for a game in Toronto on opening weekend. It's something to watch, but it doesn't sound very serious, so Westburg should be back in the starting lineup in Baltimore on Friday against the division-rival Blue Jays. Ramon Urias is starting at third and is batting eighth on Wednesday against D-backs right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. Since returning from his last day off with the upper-body injury, Westburg has gone just 5-for-30, although he does have three home runs in his first 11 games of the year. Urias will be a low-upside DFS play and he's never faced Pfaadt in his career.

After taking a day off on Tuesday, Seattle Mariners second baseman Jorge Polanco (side) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting second in Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Houston Astros and right-hander Hunter Brown at T-Mobile Park. Polanco has battled side soreness recently and was given the day off to rest on Tuesday, but he's back in there on Wednesday and will be hoping to keep his strong start to the 2025 season going. The 31-year-old Dominican infielder has 10 hits in his first 26 plate appearances of the season over seven games while delivering two home runs, 10 RBI, a stolen base, two runs scored, one walk and three strikeouts. Polanco continues to deal with injuries, though, and fantasy managers should probably expect the oft-injured switch-hitter to eventually land on the injured list. In eight career at-bats against Brown, Polanco is hitting .250 with a .625 OPS.

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is expected to return on Friday when the Dodgers host the Chicago Cubs. Freeman has been on the 10-day injured list after suffering a setback on the ankle he underwent surgery on. However, it appears the 35-year-old is only expected to miss a short period of time. Through his first four games of the regular season, Freeman has posted a modest .250/.250/.833 line with a double and two home runs. However, under the hood, Freeman has generated an elite .577 xwOBA, which suggests he should see significant positive regression in his batting average. While Freeman has been sidelined, Kike Hernandez has seen most of the time at first base. When Freeman returns, he should be viewed as a must-start high-end No. 1 first baseman.

Athletics first baseman Tyler Soderstrom (calf) is in the starting nine on Wednesday afternoon when they conclude their series against the San Diego Padres. Soderstrom was removed from Tuesday's contest due to a calf contusion. However, the injury was not serious, and the former first-round pick is already returning to action. He will cover first base and bat in the three-hole. Soderstrom has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign as he has posted a .378/.440/.822 slash line with six long balls across 12 contests. He has generated a stellar .415 xwOBA with a .626 xSLG. He is a solid play in DFS facing San Diego right-hander Randy Vasquez.

Seattle Mariners second baseman Ryan Bliss (biceps) was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left biceps tear. The 25-year-old reportedly suffered this injury during Tuesday's contest against the Houston Astros. In a corresponding move, the Mariners promoted Leo Rivas from Triple-A Tacoma. Bliss has had a starting role in the Seattle starting nine through the opening two weeks of the season. Cronenworth exited Tuesday's contest after feeling a pain in his ribs. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to their next game against the Colorado Rockies on Friday evening. In addition, Cronenworth was hit by a pitch on Sunday in this same area, which is related to this injury. Instead, the Padres will give veteran infielder Jose Iglesias the starting nod at the keystone. Iglesias will bat in the six-hole. Through 12 games this season, Cronenworth has held a solid .257/.409/.486 slash line with two doubles and two round-trippers. If Cronenworth were to miss an extended period of time, Iglesias would likely have a clear role in the starting nine.

The Texas Rangers have placed outfielder Wyatt Langford (oblique) on the 10-day injured list due to a right oblique strain. The 23-year-old was removed from Tuesday's contest. He underwent an MRI on Wednesday, and due to the results, he will now be on the injured list. On Wednesday, Oscar Gonzalez will get the starting nod in right field and bat in the five-hole. Through the first 12 games of the campaign, Tatis has enjoyed a strong start, holding a .364/.442/.523 slash line with two home runs. Gonzalez is not worth targeting in DFS, facing Osvaldo Bido, who enters this contest with a 2.70 ERA.

Miami Marlins catching prospect Joe Mack went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run during Tuesday's contest against Double-A Montgomery. Mack tallied just one hit (a single) over his first two games of the campaign. This was a nice breakout outing for the 22-year-old. Last summer, Mack spent a majority of the campaign at the Double-A level and held a .241/.322/.456 slash line. Across 112 games, Mack went deep 22 times and added 25 doubles. He held a 46:122 BB:K and swiped two bags. Given his previous success at Double-A, fantasy managers should expect the Williamsville East HS product to push for a Triple-A debut later this summer. If he continues to hit for power, the No. 9 prospect in Miami could open the door for a late-season MLB debut.

San Diego Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth (rib) was pulled early from Tuesday's 10-4 loss to the Athletics due to rib cramping that he experienced as the result of a contusion from a hit-by-pitch on Sunday in Chicago against the Cubs. Manager Mike Shildt said the team is hopeful it's nothing more and not a serious injury. However, both Cronenworth and outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) will likely be out through Thursday's off day. The 31-year-old Cronenworth injured himself on a groundout in the third inning and didn't even make it out of the box before leaving the game. Fantasy managers will want to take him out of their lineups for Wednesday's series finale against the A's in Sacramento, but it's possible he'll be back by Friday's series opener at Petco Park against the division-rival Colorado Rockies. Expect veteran Jose Iglesias to get the start at second for the Pads on Wednesday.

San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) left Tuesday's 10-4 loss to the Athletics early with left-shoulder discomfort, according to manager Mike Shildt. The skipper also said that Tatis is "checking out medically." "We erred on the side of caution and we'll evaluate. Everything seems to be intact and good shape and strength good, and he's not overly concerned." The 26-year-old superstar appeared to injure his shoulder on a swing in his second at-bat of the game, but he stayed in for a while longer before eventually being pulled. While the injury doesn't seem to be a big concern right now, fantasy managers will remember that Tatis has had issues with his left shoulder in the past, even requiring surgery. At the very least, expect him to be out through Thursday's off day, but he could also miss time going into a weekend home series against the division-rival Colorado Rockies.

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte (hamstring) is expected to miss "a series of weeks" with a Grade 1 left-hamstring strain, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Marte injured himself running out a double in the team's win over the Washington Nationals last Friday after signing a five-year, $116.5 million contract extension earlier that week. It's a big blow to both the D-backs and Marte's fantasy managers, as he finished third in the 2024 National League MVP voting after setting career-highs with 36 homers and 95 RBI. "There is no timeline on it. We just have to let him heal, let him recover. Once we get to that point, we'll start to initiate some baseball activities and ramp him up," Lovullo said. With Marte sidelined, Garrett Hampson should see the majority of playing time at the keystone, but rookie Tim Tawa will also get opportunities. Marte needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats.

Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams (thigh) is back at shortstop and is hitting leadoff for the Nats for Wednesday's series finale at Nationals Park against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Landon Knack, who is making his first start of 2025. Washington kept Abrams out of the lineup as a precaution the last two games due to right-thigh tightness that he experienced late in Sunday's game. The 24-year-old is back in the lineup on Wednesday, though, and should be returned to fantasy lineups as a result. Veteran Paul DeJong is moving back to third base and will hit eighth in the batting order. While Abrams doesn't have much history against Knack (he's faced him only five times), he does have a solo home run against him. In his first nine games in his fourth MLB season, Abrams has gone 9-for-35 with three homers, two doubles, six RBI and two steals in 39 plate appearances.

After a bout with food poisoning that caused him to miss Tuesday's contest against the Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger (illness) is back in center field and is hitting third for the series finale at Comerica Park against Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty. The left-handed-hitting Trent Grisham will head back to the Yankees bench. The 29-year-old Bellinger should be returned to starting fantasy lineups now that he's feeling better. The two-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year and MVP has gone 7-for-30 (.233) in his first eight games with the Yankees in 2025, including a homer, six RBI and two stolen bases in 36 trips to the plate. He has faced Flaherty 15 times in his career and has hit .267 against him with an .886 OPS, one home run and two RBI.

Kansas City Royals first base prospect Jac Caglianone went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI on Tuesday evening. He also drew two walks and scored twice. This was Caglianone's second long ball of the Double-A regular season. He has tallied at least one hit in each of the first four contests and holds an overall .375/.455/.813 line with 10 RBI and a 4:4 BB:K. The Royals drafted Caglianone with the sixth pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Florida. Caglianone received a brief 29-game taste of High-A last summer and posted a .241/.302/.388 slash line with nine doubles and two home runs. While the 22-year-old may not be in contention for an MLB debut this summer, he is a rising star in dynasty formats and could find himself on the top of prospect boards next spring.

New York Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt (shoulder) is scheduled to make his final minor-league rehab start, barring a setback, on Thursday at either Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre or Double-A Somerset, according to the New York Post's Greg Joyce. Schmidt went 3 1/3 inning in his first rehab start last Saturday with Somerset and punched out seven batters without giving up a run. The 29-year-old will increase his pitch count on Thursday and then should be able to make his 2025 season debut next Tuesday, April 15, against the Kansas City Royals. Schmidt probably could have opened the year in New York's starting rotation, but the Yankees chose to play it safe after he dealt with a minor right-shoulder injury in spring training. If a lat strain hadn't cost him three months in 2024, Schmidt could have had a breakout campaign last year. Pick him up in mixed leagues if he's available on the waiver wire.
