Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker had his third straight subpar preseason showing on Saturday against the Miami Dolphins. The third-year signal-caller entered the game in the second half and completed just six of 13 passes for 61 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Hooker was significantly outplayed by Lions quarterback Kyle Allen, who has started two out of the team's three preseason games and looks like the best option to back up Jared Goff when the regular season begins. Hooker was a third-round pick in 2023 and spent his rookie season recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in college, so he may need more time to develop. However, he's already 27 and does not appear ready to be the team's QB2, which likely puts him on the roster bubble in Detroit.

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Jackson Meeks had his second straight impressive preseason performance on Saturday against the Miami Dolphins. Meeks was targeted eight times and hauled in seven catches for 93 yards and one touchdown. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse, Meeks is making his case for a roster spot in Detroit with stellar preseason play. Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa continues to stand out in preseason action, recording four catches for 41 yards and a touchdown on Saturday against the Miami Dolphins. A third-round selection out of Arkansas, TeSlaa had just 28 catches last year for the Razorbacks and was thought to be more of a developmental prospect. He's reportedly opened some eyes in training camp practices, and he's logged 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns in three preseason games. TeSlaa could be pushing veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick for the WR3 job in Detroit before the regular season even begins.

Detroit Lions quarterback Kyle Allen got the start on Saturday in the team's third preseason game against the Miami Dolphins and played well. Allen completed 14 of 17 pass attempts for 124 yards and two touchdowns, finishing the night with a passer rating of 136.3. Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Scotty Miller logged two receptions for 38 yards on two targets in a 17-14 preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The sixth-year pro continues to impress this summer in a Pittsburgh receiving corps that lacks proven commodities outside of D.K. Metcalf. He made a sliding catch in the second quarter on a deep ball from quarterback Skylar Thompson for a gain of 23 yards. Although there is no guarantee Miller makes the 53-man roster, he has certainly made a stronger case than fellow veteran Robert Woods, who has just one catch through two exhibition contests. The 28-year-old appeared in 13 games with the Steelers last season and has ties to offensive coordinator Arthur Smith dating back to his 2023 campaign with the Atlanta Falcons. He'll look to keep rolling in the team's final preseason bout with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.

New York Giants running back Devin Singletary wasn't very involved in Saturday's preseason win over the Jets, amassing five yards off two carries. However, he made up for it by scoring a touchdown in the first quarter. Tyrone Tracy Jr. is the team's starter. That's not expected to change anytime soon. However, with Cam Skattebo (hamstring) having trouble getting on the field during the preseason, Singletary has a chance to remain more involved than anticipated to begin the 2025 campaign. Still, the 27-year-old has a way to go before earning a spot on fantasy rosters heading into the Week 1 opener versus the Washington Commanders. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett IV completed 28 of his 40 pass attempts for 324 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception during Saturday's preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He also took a sack and rushed for four yards. Bennett led four successful scoring drives, including a game-winning touchdown drive that put the Rams ahead with just 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter. He has played the entirety of the Rams' first two preseason games, totaling five touchdowns and just one interception. He has a firm grasp on the third-string quarterback role behind Matthew Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo, and given that both of those players are older veterans who could be near the ends of their careers, Bennett's strong preseason could bode well as he auditions for a larger role in the future.

New York Giants tight end Greg Dulcich had one catch (one target) for a 20-yard touchdown in Saturday's win over the New York Jets. As a rookie, he had 33 catches for 411 yards and two touchdowns while with the Denver Broncos in 2022. However, Dulcich hasn't done much ever since while battling injuries along the way. He's managed to remain with the Giants since the club picked him up off waivers in November 2024. Still, Dulcich isn't a lock to remain on the roster heading into the Week 1 opener versus the Washington Commanders. That could stay the case even if he plays well in the preseason finale versus the New England Patriots on Thursday night, especially since New York has Theo Johnson and Daniel Bellinger on the roster.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Xavier Smith caught all four of his targets for 48 receiving yards during Saturday's preseason victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. He also rushed for five yards. Smith has been quite productive this summer. He paced the team with 55 receiving yards last week, and he now has a total of eight touches and 108 scrimmage yards through two preseason contests. NFL opportunities have been few and far between for the 27-year-old Florida A&M product, but he did total six receiving yards, 36 rushing yards, and a pair of first downs in 2024. Los Angeles' first four wide receiver spots are essentially locked up, which means they only have two or three spots to divide over seven remaining receivers (Smith, Tru Edwards, Mario Williams, Konata Mumpfield, Drake Stoops, Britain Covey, and Brennan Presley).

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roc Taylor secured three of five targets for 39 yards in the team's 17-14 preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. An undrafted rookie out of Memphis, Taylor has generated some buzz this summer as a potential downfield weapon. Unfortunately, he was unable to capitalize on his downfield opportunities on Saturday, most notably when a slightly overthrown ball from quarterback Logan Woodside landed just outside his grasp on what could have been a go-ahead touchdown. Still, Taylor showcased his skills after the catch in the fourth quarter with gains of 12 and 20 yards. While the 22-year-old is competing for a roster spot with more experienced wideouts such as Robert Woods and Scotty Miller, Taylor's youth and ability to win outside make him an intriguing option for Pittsburgh. He will have one more chance to state his case in next week's preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers.

Los Angeles Rams running back Jarquez Hunter carried the ball 15 times for 55 yards during Saturday's preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He also converted his lone target into a two-yard reception. A rookie fourth-round pick out of Auburn, Hunter is the early favorite to win the No. 2 running back job behind incumbent starter Kyren Williams. He has led the backfield in carries in both of the Rams' preseason carries so far, averaging 3.7 yards per rush attempt. Williams should handle the every-down role once again this year, but Hunter represents a very intriguing handcuff option. Los Angeles Rams running back Cody Schrader rushed for 48 yards on 13 carries during Saturday's preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He also caught two of his three targets for an additional 24 receiving yards. Through two preseason games, Schrader has a total of 140 yards. The Missouri product entered this preseason on the outside looking in. He still faces an uphill battle to make the team, as Kyren Williams, Jarquez Hunter, and Blake Corum are essentially roster locks. However, if Los Angeles opts to carry four running backs, Schrader has made a case for himself over Ronnie Rivers. Regardless of Los Angeles' final roster decisions, Schrader will be several rungs away from an impactful role. He should be left on waivers in all fantasy leagues.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson handled 11 carries for 50 rushing yards and hauled in his only target for nine yards in a 17-14 preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Johnson once again struggled to find much room in the early going, but he managed to get loose a few times in the second and third quarters, including on a 14-yard scamper that marked the longest gain of his young NFL career. Although veteran halfback Jaylen Warren is primed to begin the campaign as the team's primary ballcarrier, Johnson, a third-round selection in April's draft, should mix in regularly and see an expanded role as the season progresses. His final audition before Week 1 will come against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins could be in line to earn the starting running back job ahead of Week 1. Head coach Sean Payton said that the Broncos' starters would not play in their second preseason game. R.J. Harvey and Jaleel McLaughlin both played, while Dobbins suited up but did not see the field. Assuming Payton's declaration about his starters was accurate, Dobbins would be in line to start Week 1. Despite the Broncos drafting Harvey in the second round, we shouldn't be too shocked that the job is Dobbins' to lose. Denver specifically went out and signed him in early June, giving him a $5.25 million contract that was likely reflective of his expected role in the offense. The veteran running back exceeded expectations last year with the Los Angeles Chargers, totaling 1,058 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns through 13 games. He was the overall RB23 in half-PPR leagues despite missing four contests, and he ranked 17th in fantasy points on a per-game basis. With Denver's offense expected to be productive and consistently operate with a positive game script this year, Dobbins should continue to deliver results for fantasy managers. Harvey does pose a threat to steal touches, but the 26-year-old remains a strong fantasy option. He enters the year as a mid-range RB3/FLEX play.

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston (concussion) exited Saturday's one-point loss to the Rams after taking a hard hit. Johnston was transported to the hospital for further evaluation as a "precaution,' with head coach Jim Harbaugh revealing the wideout was diagnosed with a concussion. While the news is encouraging, the team will presumably take the cautious approach. As a result, Johnston's status for Saturday's preseason finale versus the 49ers is in question, although fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if he's not out there for that one. The 23-year-old is coming off a productive season, finishing the 2024 campaign with 55 catches for 711 yards and eight touchdowns. Unfortunately, the latest injury could cause Johnston's fantasy stock to drop even more, especially since he will battle for targets with Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen, Tre' Harris, and Keandre Lambert-Smith throughout the year.

New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. had 39 yards off seven touches in Saturday's win over the Jets. The 25-year-old had a chance to find the end zone in the first quarter. Unfortunately, after an unsuccessful attempt, Devin Singletary entered the contest and scored a touchdown off a one-yard run. Tracy finished his rookie season by amassing 839 yards off 192 carries while totaling six touchdowns. With Cam Skattebo (hamstring) still having trouble getting on the field, Tracy shouldn't have any issues getting the most touches, at least early in the 2025 campaign, giving him plenty of upside for fantasy managers. However, his lack of consistent involvement as a pass-catcher will limit his ceiling for PPR participants. Skattebo's power could also take away some of Tracy's red zone opportunities, especially near the goal line. The Giants will close out the preseason with a meeting with the New England Patriots on Thursday night.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy converted three targets into two receptions for 27 yards during Saturday's preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. One of the older rookies in the NFL last year, Flournoy was a 2024 sixth-round pick who caught 10 passes for 102 yards in his first pro campaign. He's trending toward making the team, but his roster spot is not yet guaranteed. The 25-year-old must continue to impress as training camp and the preseason wrap up. Heading into the 2025 campaign, he faces added competition in the form of Keenan Allen and Tre Harris. Plus, the team's No. 1 receiver, Ladd McConkey, continues to trend upward ahead of his second NFL season. Even when Johnston clears concussion protocol, he'll be tough to trust in fantasy lineups.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo was targeted four times during Saturday's preseason contest against the Baltimore Ravens, but he caught just one pass for 49 yards. All four of Mingo's targets came from Milton, suggesting that the young receiver has a role with the second-team offense. Milton enjoyed targeting Mingo deep downfield, as evidenced by his 49-yard reception. Milton also took a deep shot downfield to the receiver, but it was intercepted in the end zone. Mingo, 24, played in 17 games last season, splitting time with the Panthers and Cowboys. Through eight games with Dallas, he caught just five passes for 46 yards. He's slated to occupy a similar low-volume role once again this year, as he remains buried on the depth chart behind players like CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Jalen Tolbert.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson finished with two receptions for 72 yards on four targets in a 17-14 preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The second-year pro did all of his damage in the contest's opening quarter. He ran past multiple defenders to secure a 42-yard deep ball from Mason Rudolph and later found space on a crossing route to gain 30 yards on a pass from Skylar Thompson. After a rookie season plagued by injuries, Wilson has shown promise heading into the 2025-2026 campaign.
