Chris Banjo Jan 29 9:20pm CT
    Chris Banjo

The New York Jets are working on a deal with Denver Broncos special teams assistant Chris Banjo to make him their new special teams coordinator, according to sources. Banjo served as Denver's special teams assistant each of the last two years and will be a big loss for the Broncos' special teams unit this offseason. Before beginning his coaching career, Banjo spent the last 10 years as a defensive back with the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals and specialized on special teams. In addition to interviewing with the Jets, he had interviews for the special teams coordinator jobs with the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. In addition to bringing Banjo aboard the Jets, new head coach Aaron Glenn is also hiring long-time defensive coach Steve Wilks as the team's new defensive coordinator.

Khalid Kareem Jan 29 9:20pm CT
    Khalid Kareem

The Atlanta Falcons announced on Tuesday that they signed free-agent tight end Nikola Kalinic to a Reserve/Future contract. The 28-year-old appeared in two games with the Los Angeles Rams in 2024 and previously played in the Canadian Football League from 2019-22 before joining the Indianapolis Colts. Since the end of the season in addition to Kalinic, Atlanta has signed quarterback Emory Jones, wide receivers Phillips Dorsett, Jesse Matthews, Dylan Drummond, Makai Polk and David Sills, running back Elijah Dotson, offensive linemen Joey Fisher, Jovaughn Gwyn, Tyron Wheatley Jr. and Matthew Cindric, defensive linemen Junior Aho, Khalid Kareem and LaCale London, and defensive backs Lamar Jackson and Benny Sapp III to Reserve/Futures deals.

Jonathan Gannon Jan 29 9:10pm CT
    Jonathan Gannon

According to sources, the Dallas Cowboys interviewed Arizona Cardinals offensive-line coach Klayton Adams for their vacancy at offensive coordinator on Tuesday. The Cowboys have an opening at the position after promoting former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach earlier this week. Adams is considered a top candidate for Dallas and was a key architect in constructing the Cardinals' top-10 running game in 2024. He arrived in Arizona before the 2023 season alongside Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon. With Adams working with the team's offensive linemen, the Cardinals ranked seventh in rushing yards per game and eighth in rushing touchdowns. Running back James Conner reached 1,000 rushing yards in both seasons with Adams directing the offensive line. Dallas also requested an interview with Atlanta Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger.

Byron Young Jan 29 8:50pm CT
    Byron Young

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Byron Young (hamstring) will remain on Injured Reserve for their meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. It's unfortunate news for the 24-year-old, who was not activated from IR within his 21-day window. Young was designated to return from injured reserve on Jan. 8 and would practice as a full participant over the next three weeks, though he was ruled out for each contest. He'll end his campaign without logging an appearance before the hamstring injury he suffered in October, which would effectively end his year. The Alabama product was a former third-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders before finding his way to Philadelphia via waivers at the end of training camp. With the top-end talent the Eagles bolster on their defensive interior, he won't likely be more than a rotational player even when he's healthy.

Shane Buechele Jan 29 8:40pm CT
    Shane Buechele

According to Alec White of the team, the Buffalo Bills have re-signed quarterback Shane Buechele (neck) to a one-year deal. The Texas native spent the entirety of the 2024 season on injured reserve with a neck injury he sustained in the preseason and was previously a member of the Bills' practice squad in 2023. Buechele went undrafted out of SMU in 2021 and was signed by Kansas City, though he never recorded a snap. He'd then get a year off in 2022 before finding his way to Buffalo the following season. The 27-year-old's collegiate profile is nothing of note, brandishing one season with more than 3,100 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. However, his familiarity with Buffalo's system makes him a valuable emergency option should anything happen to the players ahead of him. He'll now attempt to work his way to their 53-man roster in 2025.

Zach Ertz Jan 29 8:20pm CT
    Zach Ertz

Per Grant Gordon of NFL.com, Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz told reporters on Monday that he still intends to play football in 2025. "I still want to play football next year," said Ertz. "I just want to make that clear that I'm not retiring." The 34-year-old was a valuable safety valve for rookie QB Jayden Daniels this season and had one of his better campaigns in recent memory. Ertz went on to say he felt rejuvenated this year and believes he can still get better. He also made it clear that he'd like to play in Washington again in 2025 if they'll have him. Whether that's the case remains to be seen, but he's undoubtedly played himself into another contract and still has the drive to play.

Jimmie Ward Jan 29 7:10pm CT
    Jimmie Ward

Houston Texans cornerback Jalen Pitre (pectoral) had successful surgery on his torn pectoral muscle and is on track to be available for the team's offseason activities. "My recovery is going well," Pitre said. In 12 games before his injury, Pitre had 65 tackles (six for loss), a forced fumble, an interception and eight pass breakups while moving back to his natural nickel position with the Texans. Losing Pitre in their secondary was tough for Houston's defense, as it became easier for opponents to run the ball against them. With both Pitre and Jimmie Ward (foot) injured, Myles Bryant became the team's primary nickelback. The 25-year-old former second-round pick is heading into the final year of his rookie contract, which means he's eligible for an extension. Staying with the Texans is something he's very much interested in, and that could become a reality if he stays healthy and plays up to his abilities in 2025.

Matthew Stafford Jan 29 7:00pm CT
    Matthew Stafford

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford plans to continue playing in 2025. Stafford was non-committal as to whether he'd return for a 17th NFL season after the Rams' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round. Although it's now clear he wants to keep playing, there's still uncertainty as to whether it will be in L.A. The 36-year-old signal-caller revised his contract with the Rams before the 2024 season and will carry a $49.6 million salary cap number into this year. If the Rams were to trade Stafford in a post-June 1 move, they'd save $27 million. They'd save $23 million by designating him as a post-June 1 cut. However, the Rams don't currently have any immediate plans to replace Stafford. Injuries are a concern, but he still has elite arm strength and threw for 3,762 passing yards, 20 TDs and eight interceptions in 16 regular-season games.

    Ja'Marr Chase Jan 29 7:00pm CT
    Ja'Marr Chase

Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the team in 2025 after not being able to agree on a new contract last offseason. This offseason, director of personnel Duke Tobin said a long-term extension for Chase will be "a priority for us." The Bengals should expect Chase's representation to ask for significantly more than what Cincy's final offer was last year after he led the NFL in receiving yards (1,708), receptions (127) and touchdowns (17) to capture the receiving Triple Crown. The 24-year-old will be a finalist for Offensive Player of the Year. When everything is said and done, Chase will be the league's highest-paid non-quarterback in league history. The Vikings' Justin Jefferson reset the WR market with a four-year deal worth $140 million, which Chase will exceed. For good reason, Chase will be the first WR off the board in fantasy drafts in 2025.

Dallas Goedert Jan 29 6:30pm CT
    Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (ankle, rest) is still listed on the injury report and was a DNP in the first practice of the week on Wednesday. Goedert also missed some practice time last week with an ankle ailment but ended up playing in the NFC Championship win over the division-rival Washington Commanders and really delivered for the Eagles and fantasy managers. Not only did Goedert suit up last weekend, but he caught seven of his eight targets for 85 yards, his second-highest receiving total of the year. With an extra week to rest up and prepare for the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 9, against the Kansas City Chiefs, there's no reason to believe the 30-year-old will not be ready to go by then. Goedert missed more time due to injury during the regular season in 2024 but has been a big part of Philly's passing game in the postseason, catching 15 of 18 targets for 188 yards and a score in three contests.

Kenneth Gainwell Jan 29 6:30pm CT
    Kenneth Gainwell

Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell (concussion, knee) did not take part in practice with the rest of the team on Wednesday after suffering a concussion on Sunday in the win over the division-rival Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship. In addition to being in the league's concussion protocol this week, the 25-year-old backup running back is dealing with a knee injury. It means his status for Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs is up in the air, but the good news is he'll have an extra week to recover with the game not taking place until Sunday, Feb. 9. Still, Gainwell's status for the big game is currently up in the air. If he is unable to gain clearance to play against KC, Will Shipley would be the primary change-of-pace back for the Eagles behind stud rusher Saquon Barkley. Gainwell only has 10 touches for 58 scrimmage yards in three playoff games this year.

Quinnen Williams Jan 29 6:20pm CT
    Quinnen Williams

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the New York Jets agreed to terms with veteran coach Steve Wilks as their new defensive coordinator on Wednesday, according to sources. Wilks did not coach at all in the NFL in 2024 after being fired as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator following the 2023 campaign. He's a long-time respected assistant defensive coach in the NFL and also the former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals in 2018. With new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn not expected to call defensive plays in his first year at the helm, Wilks' role as the defensive coordinator will be key. The Jets are also expected to add Denver Broncos assistant Chris Banjo as their special teams coordinator and Detroit Lions tight ends coach Steve Heiden as their offensive-line coach. Wilks will be inheriting a Jets defense with plenty of talent, headlined by players like Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner.

DeVonta Smith Jan 29 6:20pm CT
    DeVonta Smith

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) is dealing with a hamstring injury and was listed as a non-participant in the team's practice on Wednesday. It's something to watch with Smith, but with the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs not coming until Sunday, Feb. 9, the 26-year-old wideout will most likely be ready by then. He played 83 percent of the offensive snaps in the win over the division-rival Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship and caught all four of his targets for 45 yards. The Eagles are likely just giving one of their top offensive weapons a little rest after a long season. Our best guess is that he will return to practice later this week and be fine to play in the Super Bowl in the weekend after next. The fourth-year wideout had a career-low 833 receiving yards in 13 regular-season games but also found the end zone a career-high eight times.

Cam Ward Jan 29 2:50pm CT
    Cam Ward

On Tuesday at Senior Bowl practices, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen said the team is "open to anything" with the No. 3 overall pick in April's NFL Draft. The organization needs a new franchise quarterback after parting ways with Daniel Jones midway through last season, but the 2025 quarterback class is not viewed as a strong group of signal-callers. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward are expected to be the first two quarterbacks off the board, but there is a lot of unknown about which draft slots they could be selected in. The Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns are picking ahead of the G-Men, and both of those franchises need a quarterback of the future, too. "We're in a good position sitting at three with the players that are available," Schoen said. "By process of elimination, we know we're going to get a good player. Regardless of what happens the next couple of months, we know there's going to be a really good player there." It feels like New York is likely the most desperate franchise for a new signal caller with Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll firmly on the hot seat, but the team could go "best player available" or trade up or down from the No. 3 slot.

David Blough Jan 29 2:30pm CT
    David Blough

The Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets have requested to interview Washington Commanders assistant David Blough for their vacant quarterback coach position, while the Chicago Bears are seeking to interview him for their pass game coordinator role. Blough, a five-year NFL quarterback, was on the Detroit Lions practice squad in 2023 before joining the coaching ranks in Washington as the assistant quarterbacks coach. After the breakout rookie campaign from Jayden Daniels, it's no surprise he is drawing interest around the NFL for franchises building new staffs. The 29-year-old could make his way up the coaching ladder in short order if he excels with a potential promotion in 2025.

Mike Vrabel Jan 29 2:30pm CT
    Mike Vrabel

The New York Jets are moving on from offensive line coach Keith Carter under new head coach Aaron Glenn, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Carter coached the Tennessee Titans offensive line under Mike Vrabel from 2018 to 2022 before landing the offensive line coach and run game coordinator roles in 2022 for New York. The Jets ranked 31st in rushing yards per game (91.8) in 2024 despite having talented backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen.

Aaron Glenn Jan 29 12:40pm CT
    Aaron Glenn

FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz reports that the New York Jets will interview veteran defensive coach Steve Wilks on Wednesday night for their vacant defensive-coordinator position, according to sources. New head coach Aaron Glenn has already stated that he won't be calling defensive plays in his first year at the helm in 2025, which makes his defensive-coordinator hire an even more important one. Wilks is widely respected around the league for his defensive mind and leadership abilities. He took the 2024 season off in the NFL after he was fired following the San Francisco 49ers' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in last year's Super Bowl. The 55-year-old veteran has served as a defensive coordinator for the 49ers, Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns.

Dak Prescott Jan 29 12:30pm CT
    Dak Prescott

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said that he fully endorses owner Jerry Jones' decision to hire former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as the team's next head coach. "I mean, Shotty means a lot to me. He's been a consistent man, and I think that's a part of why he's gotten this job in his time being here. I got four years left on my contract. He's tied directly to my future, so let's go be the best that we can in these four years," Prescott said. Although the move to hire Schottenheimer, who has never been a head coach in the NFL, wasn't a splashy one, it gives Prescott and the Dallas offense continuity. Schottenheimer didn't call offensive plays the last two years, but he was the offensive coordinator and knows Prescott well. Although Schottenheimer won't necessarily be great for Prescott, it's worth noting that he led the NFL with 36 TD passes in 2023, the first year that Schottenheimer became Dallas' OC.

Baker Mayfield Jan 29 12:30pm CT
    Baker Mayfield

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers interviewed Los Angeles Rams passing-game coordinator/tight ends coach Nick Caley for their offensive-coordinator job on Tuesday night, according to sources. Caley will also interview for the same position with the Houston Texans on Thursday. Tampa is looking for their fourth offensive coordinator in the last four years after Liam Coen left to become the Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach. Caley coached TEs with the New England Patriots for six years before joining Sean McVay's staff in L.A. in 2023. In his first year in New England, Rob Gronkowski earned his fifth Pro Bowl nod in 2017. If the Bucs were to hire him as their new coordinator, it would certainly be good news for TE Cade Otton, who had a career-high 600 receiving yards in 2024. However, it remains to be seen how he'd mesh with quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is also coming off his best season as a pro under Coen.

Tyler Boyd Jan 29 12:20pm CT
    Tyler Boyd

The Nashville Post's John Glennon writes that it's hard to imagine that Tennessee Titans impending free-agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd will be back in 2025. The Titans believed that Boyd's experience with head coach Brian Callahan from their time with the Cincinnati Bengals would make him a valuable piece of the offense in 2024, but that just didn't come to fruition. The 30-year-old pass-catcher only produced 39 catches for 390 yards and no touchdowns in his 16 games for Tennessee, his lowest totals since 2017, his second year in the league. Boyd was a decent target for quarterbacks Will Levis and Mason Rudolph on third downs, but his lack of production for the Titans this past season will likely lead them to let him walk in free agency this March. In addition to 2024 being a big disappointment, it was also his first season without finding the end zone.
