The Athletic's Matt Schneidman says not to be surprised if the Green Bay Packers reach a contract extension with linebacker Quay Walker this offseason. The deadline to exercise fifth-year options is coming soon, and picking up Walker's fifth-year option would result in a guaranteed salary of around $16.5 million in 2026, according to Over The Cap. It sounds like general manager Brian Gutekunst doesn't want to make Walker the fourth-highest paid off-the-ball linebacker, although it doesn't mean the team doesn't want Walker to stick around into the future. "But yeah, we'd like to find a way to keep Quay around here long-term, whether that be an extension or something," Gutekunst said. Despite playing in only 13 regular-season games in 2024 due to an ankle injury, the former first-rounder finished with 102 combined tackles for the third straight year to begin his NFL career.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (shoulder) said on locker cleanout day at the end of last season that he tore his labrum in the wild-card playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. General manager Brian Gutekunst said Reed could be limited during the offseason but should be fine for the start of training camp at the end of July. It was initially reported that the 24-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder, but the good news is that he didn't require offseason surgery. In his second year in the NFL in 2024, Reed looked primed for his first 1,000-yard campaign early on, but he limped to the finish line and ended up with 55 catches on 75 targets for 857 yards and six touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (10 starts). He also added 20 carries for 163 yards and another score. He's settled in as a boom/bust WR3/flex in fantasy, but he could have more upside with Christian Watson (knee) set to miss at least half of 2025.

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said that he doesn't think wide receiver Romeo Doubs (concussion) has any long-term concern with his head health despite the fact that he suffered multiple concussions in the second half of the 2024 season, including in the wild-card loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. "Any time a guy has a couple concussions back-to-back, there's some concern there, not necessarily his long-term liability or anything, just for him," Gutekunst said. "I would expect him to bounce back and be at his best." The 24-year-old took a step back in 2024 in his third year in the NFL, but it didn't help that he played in only 13 regular-season games (12 starts). After going for 674 receiving yards and eight TDs in 2023, Doubs finished with a 46-601-4 line. With Christian Watson (knee) expected to miss at least half the 2025 season, Doubs should be in line for an expanded role if he's healthy.

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said on Tuesday at the NFL Combine that the team "will look to get Marquise Brown back." The Chiefs had big plans for Hollywood when they signed him last offseason, but the 27-year-old suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason that required surgery and caused him to miss 15 regular-season games. He eventually returned to play in two games at the tail end of the regular season and caught nine of 15 targets for 91 yards and no touchdowns as he got back up to speed. Brown added five catches on 13 targets for only 50 yards in three playoff games. Despite a disappointing 2024 campaign, the speedy wideout could be a prime bounce-back candidate in fantasy at a cheap cost if he returns to the Chiefs as a starter in three-wide sets with Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice (knee).

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) had his ACL surgery and is expected to be back around the midway point of the 2025 season, according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman. "Doing well. He's got a lot in front of him, but I expect him to attack it like he does everything else everything so far's been really good. He's been through this before, so he knows what to expect. It's a big injury. It may take some time, but he's got the right mindset, positive attitude toward it," general manager Brian Gutekunst said. The 25-year-old wideout tore his ACL in Week 18 against the Bears and finished his third year in the NFL with 29 catches (53 targets) for a career-high 620 receiving yards and a career-low two touchdowns in 15 starts. Known as a slow healer, it wouldn't be a surprise if Watson's recovery lingers into the second half. In standard 12-team leagues this fall, Watson will most likely go undrafted.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers prefers to play for the Los Angeles Rams and that he would bring wide receiver Davante Adams with him to his next stop, sources told the New York Daily News' Pat Leonard. The new Jets regime has already decided to move on from Rodgers and are expected to designate him as a post-June 1 cut. However, Rodgers and Adams playing for the Rams can only happen if L.A. actually trades current starting QB Matthew Stafford. But even in that scenario, it's unclear if the Rams would consider the 41-year-old Rodgers an upgrade over Stafford. The future Hall of Famer is likely to only play one more season in 2025, and he proved the last two years in New York that Father Time has caught up to him. The four-time MVP tore his Achilles in Week 1 in 2023 and was up in down in 2024, throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 starts.

Both New York Jets general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn made it clear that veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor is a candidate for the starting job in 2025, although Glenn isn't willing to commit to Taylor as the Week 1 starter. The Jets are designate Aaron Rodgers as a post-June 1 cut, so their decision on who to replace the future Hall of Famer with under center will be the main topic of conversation for the Jets this offseason. The Jets could look to move up from No. 7 overall in this year's draft to take one of the top signal-callers, and they've also been tied to Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent QB Justin Fields. A trade could be another avenue the Jets consider, with Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford being the biggest name potentially available. Denver Broncos general manager George Paton said at the NFL Combine on Tuesday that the team could re-sign impending free-agent running back Javonte Williams this offseason. "There's a chance we bring Javonte back. I think he's one of the best pass protectors in the league," Paton said. It was previously reported this offseason that Denver was unlikely to bring Williams back in 2025 after another disappointing season in which he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry for 513 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 139 rushing attempts in 17 regular-season games (11 starts). He just hasn't displayed the same burst and tackle-breaking abilities since tearing his ACL early in the 2022 season, and he lost the lead-back role for the Broncos early in 2024. The only good news for Williams last year was that he had a career-best 52 catches for 346 yards through the air. His fantasy stock has fallen, but depending on his situation in 2025, he could be a bounce-back candidate.

Denver Broncos general manager George Paton said at the NFL Combine on Tuesday that he wants wide receiver Courtland Sutton to stick around Denver and that he will talk to Sutton's agent this week in Indianapolis about a potential contract extension. Sutton voiced displeasure about his contract last offseason, and the Broncos added some incentives to appease him. However, the 29-year-old is surely going to want an upgraded contract this offseason after recording the second 1,000-yard receiving season of his career as rookie quarterback Bo Nix's go-to target in the passing game in 2024. In addition to his 1,081 yards, Sutton caught 81 of his career-high 135 targets and scored eight times, making him a top-15 fantasy wideout. Sutton has 18 touchdowns the last two years and should be treated as a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 heading into 2025 fantasy drafts.

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (undisclosed) is "fine" and has been working out after undergoing an undisclosed procedure earlier this offseason, according to head coach Sean Payton. Nix's procedure was not related to his back injury from his rookie season. The surgery shouldn't have any affect on the 25-year-old's 2025 fantasy value after a very impressive first season in the NFL in which he threw for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 567 pass attempts. The first-rounder out of Oregon also ran the ball 92 times for 430 yards and an additional four touchdowns to show off his underrated speed. Nix finished as the QB8 in overall fantasy scoring, and he did it all with a pretty non-existent running game to help him out. The Broncos will surely be looking to beef up their offensive weapons around Nix in his sophomore season, where he'll certainly be in play as a midrange QB1 target in fantasy drafts.

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said on Tuesday that the team will meet with quarterback Geno Smith's agents this week to begin talks on a contract extension. Schneider said there is no deadline for an extension, but also that Smith is "our guy." Smith was better in 2024 than he was in 2023, throwing for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns in 17 starts, although he did throw 15 interceptions -- the most since he tossed 21 in his rookie year in 2013 with the Jets. It was good enough to make him the QB12 in overall fantasy points. The former second-round pick in 2013 out of West Virginia has established himself as a locked-in starter in Seattle the last three years, but at best in fantasy, he's a matchup-based, low-end QB1 streamer who will turn 35 years old this fall. He'll also be working with a new offensive coordinator yet again in 2025.

Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said on Tuesday that the team will have an open competition at quarterback this offseason between Anthony Richardson and another player that is brought in. The Colts could draft a signal-caller -- they have the 14th overall pick in this year's NFL draft -- or pick a veteran up in free agency to compete with Richardson, who disappointed in his sophomore season and was limited to 11 starts due to more injuries and a benching. The 22-year-old former fourth overall pick out of Florida in 2023 only played in four games in his rookie season. Through his first two seasons in the NFL, Richardson has proved injury-prone and is a reliability in terms of accuracy, as he completed only 47.7% of his 264 pass attempts for 1,814 yards, eight TDs and 12 interceptions. The rushing upside is great, but fantasy managers will probably value him as more of an upside QB2 in 2025 if he wins the starting job.

Although New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen didn't touch on any of the rumors surrounding Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, The Athletic's Dan Duggan is convinced that the veteran signal-caller is firmly on the table for the Giants this offseason as they look to upgrade at the position. Schoen did say "we're going to look for the best player available that can help us win games in 2025." The Rams are playing hardball with Stafford and don't want to pay him over $50 million a year on a possible two-year deal, so if another team like the Giants is willing to pay him more and surrender some draft picks to acquire him in a trade, the 37-year-old could be shipped out of L.A. to play out the last couple years of his career. Despite his advanced age, Stafford proved last year he's still a top-12 QB in the league, although for fantasy purposes he's in the QB2 range.

Cincinnati Bengals director of personnel Duke Tobin said on Tuesday that he's "optimistic" about re-signing wide receiver Tee Higgins. "Our preference with Tee Higgins is to do a long-term extension," Tobin said. The Bengals are attempting to do some serious juggling to fit all their star players into the 2025 salary cap, but it is possible, even though they are fully expecting to make receiver Ja'Marr Chase the league's highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL this offseason as well. To buy themselves some more time, Cincy is expected to place the franchise tag on Higgins for the second straight year. Although the 26-year-old played in just 12 games due to some injuries, he was money for fantasy managers when he was on the field by posting 73 receptions, 911 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns on 109 targets. Higgins would probably have a higher fantasy ceiling elsewhere, but he'll be a solid WR2 if he stays in Cincy.

Cincinnati Bengals lead executive Duke Tobin said on Tuesday that wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase will become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL this offseason. "We're there, let's get it done signed contract that's what needs to happen," Tobin said. The Bengals couldn't get an extension done with the 24-year-old All-Pro pass-catcher before the start of the regular season, but that won't happen this year. Chase deserves a raise and should pass Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson ($35 million average salary per year) as the highest-paid non-QB in the league this offseason after he came away with the receiving Triple Crown in 2024 by leading the NFL in catches (127), receiving yards (1,708) and touchdowns (17) in 17 games played. The four-time Pro Bowler and former Offensive Rookie of the Year will be the top receiver off the board in the first round of fantasy drafts this fall.

Fantasy Spin: The Seahawks probably would not mind an upgrade to Smith, but they are unlikely to get one with the No. 18 pick in this draft. Smith has been good for Seattle since taking over the starting job in 2022, but it is hard to imagine Smith leading the team to a Super Bowl given what he has put on tape in three seasons. Smith runs enough to be a solid QB2 in fantasy, but it is hard to trust him as anything more than that regardless of the play-caller.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said the thing that he's most comfortable and confident in for the upcoming 2025 NFL draft is that the Cleveland Browns will select a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick. Deshaun Watson (Achilles) tore his Achilles last year and has needed multiple surgeries to address the injury, so he's a question mark to even be able to play in 2025. Not only do the Browns need a signal-caller for the upcoming season, but they need financial relief with basically all of their money tied up with Watson. If the Tennessee Titans pass on a QB with the first overall pick, the Browns would have their choice of their favorite quarterback at No. 2, which would most likely come down to either Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders. In addition to drafting a QB, the Browns could also consider signing Kirk Cousins (if the Falcons release him) as a veteran bridge QB.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent RB Nick Chubb is expected to reach the open market when free agency starts, according to general manager Andrew Berry.

Fantasy Spin: It's not a surprise for a 29-year-old running back with multiple devastating knee injuries. However, the Browns likely hope the rest of the league feels the same way about Chubb, which could allow them to sign him at a discount. Chubb predictably struggled upon his return from injury in 2024, but it would not be shocking if he overcomes the odds for the second time in his career and performs well in his first full season back from a serious knee injury.
