Houston Texans running back Woody Marks totaled 40 rushing yards on seven carries on Saturday against Carolina, leading the team in both carries and rushing yards. The fourth-round rookie had the longest rush of the day with a 12-yard carry, but he worked with the second unit after Nick Chubb took the reps with starting quarterback C.J. Stroud. Demeon Pierce did not play, either, so it's still not clear exactly where Marks lands on the team's depth chart. At USC, Marks racked up 1,133 yards and nine touchdowns last season, and he also thrived as a receiver out of the backfield throughout his five-year college career. With Chubb and Pierce available, along with starter Joe Mixon (foot/ankle), Marks could have a hard time getting playing time in his rookie year. All three of those veterans have dealt with injuries this preseason, though, and Mixon is still uncertain for Week 1 on the Non-Football Injury list. Marks is a dynasty player to watch and could work his way onto the field at some point this season, but he isn't a consideration for standard re-draft leagues at this point.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans running back Nick Chubb made his Texans' preseason debut on Saturday against the Panthers, taking five carries for 25 yards while working with the starting unit and quarterback C.J. Stroud. Chubb recently cleared the concussion protocol and could be lined up to start the year with the top unit of the offense, depending on the status of Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) for Week 1. Mixon is dealing with a lingering ankle/foot injury and remains on the Non-Football Injury list. Chubb was brought to Houston this offseason after he struggled in his return from his devastating knee injury in 2023. When he's fully healthy, Chubb has a superstar ceiling, but Dameon Pierce and rookie Woody Marks will also potentially be in the mix. Houston's backfield remains a key situation to watch for the rest of the preseason.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Tyrell Shavers turned in his second straight solid preseason performance in a 38-0 defeat against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. On a night that saw few Bills contribute anything of note, Shavers caught two of his three targets for 29 yards. The lone miss came after Shavers beat cornerback Jeremiah Walker on a 25-yard pass down the sideline. Quarterback Mike White's throw was catchable but slightly out of Shavers' reach, and it fell incomplete. To cap off his night, Shavers drew a 23-yard pass interference penalty on a third-and-18 play in the third quarter. Undrafted out of San Diego State in 2023, Shavers has played in just three regular-season games (all last year) and caught one pass (a 69-yard touchdown), but he has garnered rave reviews in camp and stepped up in preseason action with four receptions for 99 yards. The 25-year-old helped his cause again on Sunday in his bid for a roster spot.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills running back Frank Gore Jr. was one of the team's few bright spots in a 38-0 preseason loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The 5-foot-8, 195-pounder led the Bills in total yards (81) for the second week in a row, amassing 51 on eight carries and adding another 30 on four receptions. Unfortunately for Gore, there was one costly gaffe - a lost fumble late in the third quarter. With Buffalo finally marching toward Chicago's end zone, Gore had the ball punched out around the 10-yard line, killing the Bills' best drive of the night and keeping them off the scoreboard. Still, there's no denying that Gore has looked like a capable dual threat in both exhibition games this month. He piled up 71 yards (50 receiving, 21 rushing) in last week's loss to the New York Giants and now has 152 on 22 touches this preseason. Gore is still fighting an uphill battle to earn a roster spot, though, with fellow RBs James Cook, Ray Davis, and Ty Johnson locks to make the team. The 23-year-old Gore spent last season on Buffalo's practice squad and could open 2025 in the same position.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills quarterback Mitchell Trubisky wasn't able to generate much offense during a 38-0 preseason loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday. After Mike White played the first half and struggled mightily, Trubisky entered in the third quarter and was also unable to put points on the board. The former second overall pick ended his night a forgettable 7-for-13 for 56 yards against the team that drafted him, though Trubisky did lead Buffalo's only productive drive of the night late in the third quarter. That march ended with a completion to running back Frank Gore Jr., who lost a fumble near the Bears' 10-yard line. Trubisky delivered a much better showing in a start against the New York Giants last week, and he certainly didn't lose any ground on Sunday in his battle with White. The two have been competing this summer to serve as the backup to starter Josh Allen. Trubisky held the role last season and looks like the favorite to win the job again this year.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills quarterback Mike White had an opportunity to make hay in the race for the No. 2 job on Sunday night, but he fell short in a 38-0 preseason shellacking at the hands of the Chicago Bears. White, who's competing with Mitchell Trubisky to serve as the backup to Josh Allen, started the game and played the entire first half. The 30-year-old didn't look ready for prime time, though, as he finished 4-for-11 for 54 yards and took a pair of sacks. In White's defense, he got little help from an offensive unit laden with backups. Miscues from the O-line, particularly a couple of false starts from reserve left tackle Ryan Van Demark, and dropped passes made life more difficult on the signal-caller than it should have been. Even with that in mind, White wasn't sharp. He lacked touch on his passes and missed open targets on multiple occasions. Trubisky was hardly Allen-esque when he took the field in the third quarter (7-for-13 for 56 yards), but in all likelihood, White lost ground on Sunday.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze went without a reception in his preseason debut against the Buffalo Bills. Odunze was targeted once on the game's second drive, but dropped his lone target on a curl route on a third down. Despite the dull night from the second-year receiver, Odunze ran half of his routes from the slot and could slide into the coveted Amon-Ra St. Brown role in head coach Ben Johnson's scheme. Odunze is having an impressive training camp and continues to see his fantasy stock rise this offseason. Even with a subpar night, the 2024 first-round pick remains a breakout candidate in fantasy this season.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus caught one of two targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-0 win over the Buffalo Bills. Zaccheaus capped off a seven-play 92-yard drive with a long touchdown catch from quarterback Caleb Williams. The veteran receiver signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears this offseason and has made some big plays in both training camp and the preseason. Zaccheaus is currently listed as the WR3 in the Bears' unofficial depth chart and could be a flier in deeper leagues with potential to provide some early-season production as rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III learns the offense.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet caught one pass for 29 yards in Sunday's 38-0 preseason win over the Buffalo Bills. On the second play of the game, Kmet caught a beautiful seam pass from quarterback Caleb Williams and took it for a big gain. Kmet played two drives with the first-team offense, splitting reps with 2025 first-round tight end Colston Loveland. Despite being listed as the starting tight end on the Bears' unofficial depth chart, Kmet is ranked 275th (TE38) on the current RotoBaller half-PPR rankings. With how Loveland has been performing, it's hard to imagine that Kmet has much fantasy value at the moment.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore caught two passes for 16 yards in his preseason debut against the Buffalo Bills. Moore caught a six-yard pass from quarterback Caleb Williams on the first drive and a 10-yard out route that moved the chains on third down. Moore's role under new head coach Ben Johnson is being determined, but he appeared to be a focal point in his two drives with the first-team offense. Moore is ranked 43rd (WR24) on RotoBaller's current half-PPR rankings and should see an uptick in production with Keenan Allen out of the picture and Williams entering a potential breakout season.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland caught two passes on two targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 38-0 win against the Buffalo Bills. The 2025 first-round pick caught the game's first pass from quarterback Caleb Williams, as well as hauling in an 18-yard reception over the middle on 2nd-and-14. Despite Loveland's solid night, he only played four of nine snaps when the Bears ran one-tight end formations. A tight end rotation is currently in the works with veteran tight end Cole Kmet, but expect Loveland's role to grow as the season progresses. With the crowded receiving corps and an uncertain role early in the season, Loveland should only be considered in the late rounds of fantasy drafts.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was solid in his pre-season debut against the Buffalo Bills, completing six of 10 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. Williams played his first snaps under new head coach Ben Johnson. Despite being under scrutiny during this training camp, looked like a seasoned pro. Williams was electric in his first drive, leading a seven-play, 92-yard drive that was capped off by a 35-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus. Williams played two drives and was pulled for backup quarterback Tyson Bagent before the start of the second quarter. Fantasy managers have to be pleased with Williams' stellar performance on Sunday night as he looked sharp in command of the Bears' new system. Williams and the starters have one more chance to get preseason reps in against the Kansas City Chiefs next Friday.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III hauled in all three targets, gaining 49 yards in Sunday's 38-0 preseason win over the Buffalo Bills. The rookie wide receiver caught his three passes from backup quarterback Tyson Bagent and took most of his snaps with the second-team offense. The second-round pick has performed well this preseason as both a receiver and a blocker, but has yet to garner significant playing time with the first-team offense. However, keeping Burden off the field might be difficult if he keeps stacking stellar performances like his one on Sunday. The next time we can see Burden in action is next Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
From RotoBaller
Carolina Panthers wide receiver David Moore caught all three of his targets for 26 yards during Saturday's preseason contest against the Houston Texans. The veteran pass-catcher now has five receptions on nine targets through two games this summer. He was somewhat productive in a low-end depth role last season, but he's likely competing for a roster spot now that Carolina brought in external reinforcements during the offseason. Jimmy Horn Jr. and Hunter Renfrow are among the players with whom Moore is battling as the roster crunch approaches.
From RotoBaller
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson (back) did not play during the team's preseason contest against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. The 26-year-old was sidelined near the start of the month, and although he returned to the practice field roughly one week ago, it appears that he wasn't healthy enough to play in Dallas' second preseason game. As a result, the Cowboys gave more passing opportunities to tight ends John Stephens Jr. and Princeton Fant. However, in reality, Devyn Spann-Ford and Luke Schoonmaker would be first in line to replace Ferguson if he's unable to suit up in Week 1. He's still an intriguing fringe top-12 fantasy tight end with Dak Prescott back under center this year. Even last year, while catching passes from both Prescott and Cooper Rush, Ferguson caught 59 passes for 494 yards. He did not catch a touchdown, finishing 2024 with double-digit fantasy points in just three of his 14 games. However, positive touchdown regression could vault him back up into the top-12 or top-15 range this year.
From RotoBaller
Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai (undisclosed) did not play in the team's second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune reported that Monangai was not in uniform for the contest. Other members of the Chicago media confirmed that the rookie running back was in sweatpants prior to the game. If Monangai were a veteran starter, this would likely mean that he was simply being held out of action to preserve his health ahead of the regular season. However, given that he's a seventh-round rookie near the middle or bottom of the depth chart, it's possible that he could be dealing with some sort of injury. The Rutgers product has generated plenty of buzz this offseason, with some speculation that he could push for the backup role or eventually even split the backfield with D'Andre Swift. His ascension to an impactful role will have to wait until he's healthy enough to play, though. For now, Swift will lead the backfield while Roschon Johnson backs him up. Brittain Brown also made a case for a roster spot by totaling nine carries, 43 rushing yards, and one touchdown during the first half of Sunday's contest.
From RotoBaller
Dynasty | Colts rookie running back DJ Giddens led the team with 28 rushing yards in their second preseason game. Dynasty Analysis: Giddens is a hot sleeper in dynasty circles but he's battling the likes of Tyler Goodson and Khalil Herbert for the right to back up Jonathan Taylor. Neither Goodson or Herbert likely have the ultimate upside of Giddens, so this is clearly a story to keep watching. Should Giddens earn the right to be the RB2 for the Colts, he'd be one injury away from real relevance in dynasty leagues.
Dynasty | Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel completed 13-of-18 passes for 143 yards with no touchdowns, one interception and a lost fumble in Cleveland's second preseason game. Dynasty Analysis: Gabriel was making his preseason debut and is clearly in a fight to hold off Shedeur Sanders on the depth chart. His performance was really up and down on the night and the interception was of the "pick six" variety. While he did make some good plays, Gabriel certainly didn't do anything to secure a spot on the depth chart over Sanders. In the end, the Browns have four quarterbacks and are going to need to make some moves soon. It's likely Joe Flacco is the starter but any of Kenny Pickett, Sanders, or Gabriel could end up on the trade block for a quarterback-needy team.
Dynasty | Texans rookie running back Woody Marks had 40 rushing yards in Houston's second preseason contest. Dynasty Analysis: Marks is seemingly battling veteran Nick Chubb to be the backup to a currently banged up Joe Mixon. With Mixon far from a guarantee to be ready for opening day, this is a competition that matters. The former USC Trojan has been solid but not exactly spectacular in camp, so this was a nice step forward. He remains a solid dynasty rookie draft pick as a capable runner who is on the depth chart with veteran runners on the back-end of their careers.
Dynasty | Texans running back Nick Chubb had 25 rushing yards on five carries in Houston's second preseason game. Dynasty Analysis: Reports on Chubb's explosiveness in camp have been pretty underwhelming, so this was a welcome sight. While seemingly no longer the runner he once was, Chubb has an opportunity to carve out a meaningful role in Houston, especially if Joe Mixon continues to struggle in his attempt to return from injury. Should Mixon miss time, it seems Chubb would likely split time with rookie Woody Marks. Chubb's dynasty arrow is clearly pointing down, but it was good to see some signs of life this week as he attempts to return from another serious injury.
