Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (undisclosed) has been held out of training camp practice the last few days, but head coach DeMeco Ryans said Mixon "will be fine." "I'm not worried out Joe." It's not a long-term injury for the 27-year-old, so he should be 100 percent in plenty of time for the start of the 2024 regular season this fall. Mixon's absence will give Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale, among others, more reps early in training camp in Houston's backfield. When healthy, the former Bengals RB will be the Texans' clear lead back in 2024. "Workhorse. He's an absolute workhorse, in every regard," offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik recently said of Mixon. He's joining an offense on the rise, but Mixon is probably going to need to be much more efficient as a runner than he was last year in order to finish as a top-12 fantasy back in his first year in Houston.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney was seen working as a running back during portions of the team's first training camp practice over the weekend. Toney had a disastrous 2023 season with the Chiefs, so perhaps the coaching staff is looking for creative ways to get the speedy wideout more involved this year. During wideout drills, Toney was present for 7-on-7 reps, alternating with the first-string offense and the third-string unit. Head coach Andy Reid didn't really give any clues to how the Chiefs might be using Toney differently this year. Not only does the former first-rounder need to show more in camp and the preseason this year in order to secure a roster spot, but he needs to stay healthy. The 25-year-old is currently on the outside looking in and is off the fantasy radar in single-year leagues.

The Chicago Bears have seen clear improvement from rookie first-round quarterback Caleb Williams in the early stages of training camp. Specifically, offensive coordinator Shane Waldron has seen improvement in Williams' operation of the offense, from learning the verbiage to using cadence as a weapon. The first overall pick out of USC in April's NFL draft struggled in offseason practices while going up a strong Bears defense, but he appears to be taking the next step early this summer. The 22-year-old is going to need to keep it up as he gets closer to making his NFL debut this fall as the immediate starter under for the Bears in 2024. It's great news for fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues. Williams has an excellent supporting cast in Chicago, which should give him high-end QB2 appeal in redraft leagues, as well, in his rookie campaign.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) expects to be full-go for the start of training camp this week after undergoing surgery on a torn ACL in his knee in November. Jones was not fully cleared during offseason workouts in the spring. He did not suffer any setbacks this summer that would keep him from being ready for Day 1 of training camp and he's not expected to start on the Physically Unable to Perform list. The G-Men looked closely at QBs in April's NFL draft, but they are adamant that Jones will be their starter in Week 1 against the Vikings. The 27-year-old is likely in a make-or-break year in New York in 2024 after starting just six games last year due to neck and knee injuries. He threw for just two touchdowns and six picks after a career year in 2022. Coming off a major injury with a suspect offensive line, RotoBaller has Jones ranked as the No. 25 fantasy QB.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will not practice at training camp until he has a new deal, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. Love's camp informed the Packers of his decision on Saturday. Gutekunst said that a deal could get done in the coming days, but that deals also take time. "I feel we're close," Gutekunst said. While Love won't practice until he has a new deal, this isn't a holdout, as he's in the building and will take part in meetings. Love's extension is expected to exceed $50 million per year after he excelled in his first full season as the starter in 2023 with 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 regular-season starts. The 25-year-old also led the Packers to a playoff upset win over the Dallas Cowboys on the road. Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told the local media on Monday that quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) has been fully cleared for contact at training camp. Burrow made only 10 starts in his fourth NFL season in 2023 due to a right-wrist injury that required season-ending surgery. The 27-year-old is now a full-go for camp and the preseason and should be 100 percent for the start of the 2024 regular season this fall. As long as the first overall pick out of LSU in 2020 can stay on the field, he should be able to bounce back, although his injury history early in his career makes him a risk/reward midrange QB1 target in upcoming fantasy drafts. Dynasty | The Saints have signed wide receiver Rashid Shaheed to a contract extension. Dynasty Analysis: The modest $5.2 million to keep Shaheed in New Orleans for at least the next two seasons cuold prove to be a relative bargain. Last year, Shaheed took a nice second year leap, finishing with a 46/719/5 line on nearly 16 yards per catch. Chris Olave remains the primary threat for the Saints but the wide receiver corps is spotty after that, leaving Shaheed an opportunity for an even bigger season next year. He remains one of the better late round dynasty picks this off-season.

The Miami Dolphins are hosting free agent pass rushers Yannick Ngakoue and Emmanuel Ogbah after the news of Shaquil Barrett deciding to retire. Ngakoue most recently played for the Chicago Bears but has bounced around to six different teams in his eight-year career. For the Bears in 2023, he posted 22 tackles (13 solo), 4.0 sacks, and seven QB hits across 13 games. Ogbah played for the Dolphins over the last four years but was cut this offseason for salary-related reasons after they brought in Barrett. With Miami, he registered 24.5 sacks, 114 tackles (65 solo), and 61 QB hits.

Chicago Bears tight end Gerald Everett is being activated from the non-injury football list on Monday according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN. The former Charger is getting activated just in time for the start of training camp as he'll go up against Cole Kmet and Marcedes Lewis for his spot on the depth chart this year. The Bears put a lot of weapons in the passing game surrounding rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, so Everett will have a much tougher time racking up enough stats to be fantasy-relevant compared to last year.

Denver Broncos tight end Greg Dulcich will officially avoid the PUP list to start training camp after dealing with a hamstring and a foot issue. His injuries limited him to just two games played this past season, so a clean bill of health heading into a training camp is a big deal for Dulcich heading into his third season. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to establish himself as the starting tight end just yet, so training camp and preseason are going to be very important as he battles with Adam Trautman and Lucas Krull for snaps. The former first-round pick is heading into his fifth season with the Chiefs and seems likely to continue in the backup role that he played in 2023. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (illness) was sent home from the team's first day of training camp. Details surrounding the nature of his symptoms were scarce. However, NFL insider Josina Anderson provided an update, reporting that the signal-caller is dealing with a "pretty bad" illness. Without question, this is not the way anyone would want to start camp. Hopefully, Jackson's sickness won't keep him off the field for an extended period. The two-time MVP is coming off a potent season. He finished by throwing for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, adding 821 yards and five scores off 148 carries.
