Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson is 2-0 with four total touchdowns and no interceptions as a starter this season. He'll face what could be his toughest challenge yet in keeping up with the Washington Commanders in Week 10. The Commanders are among the highest-scoring offenses in the league while limiting opposing teams to the fifth-fewest passing yards per contest. Still, Washington has given up a fair amount of passing touchdowns, so Wilson could certainly find success on Sunday. Pittsburgh added veteran wide receiver Mike Williams ahead of the NFL trade deadline to give Wilson another weapon and hopefully improve the team's aerial attack. Although the 35-year-old shouldn't be trusted in single-quarterback formats, Wilson projects as a fine QB2 option in superflex leagues this week.

Oct 28 11:53pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson completed 20-of-28 passes for 278 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 8 against the New York Giants with three runs for seven yards with one fumble lost.

Fantasy Spin: Wilson is averaging 272.0 passing yards per game in each of his two starts since returning from injury, and he has three passing touchdowns, one rushing score and no interceptions. He can be safely used as a QB2 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, and he isn't a bad bye-week streaming option.

From TheHuddle

Oct 28 11:10pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson completed 20 of 28 pass attempts for 278 yards and a touchdown while adding three carries for seven yards on the ground in a 26-18 win over the New York Giants. Wilson did cough up a fumble in the fourth quarter with the game on the line, but Pittsburgh's defense forced a turnover to give him the ball right back. He was otherwise sharp on Monday night, completing passes deep downfield to receivers George Pickens, Calvin Austin III, and Van Jefferson. Austin was on the receiving end of Wilson's lone touchdown pass of the night, a beautiful 29-yard lob that gave the Steelers a two-possession lead in the fourth quarter. Wilson will take a two-game winning streak as the starter into a Week 9 bye before a road matchup with a fellow 6-2 team, the Washington Commanders.

Oct 26 1:10pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson will follow up an impressive Week 7 outing with a Monday night showdown against the New York Giants. Wilson found the end zone three times last week in what should have been a difficult matchup against the Jets' defense. The Giants have been much more generous to quarterbacks this season than their New York counterparts, surrendering the 10th-most fantasy points per game to the position. However, this contest is projected to be the lowest-scoring affair of the week and should make for a relatively slow-paced environment. Wilson could be a potential streaming candidate in single-quarterback leagues at some point in 2024, but for now, he's best viewed as a low-end QB2 in superflex formats and should only be started as such in Week 8.

From RotoBaller

Oct 22 7:20pm CT

Steelers' QB Russell Wilson scored 27.50 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 7 win against the Jets. Wilson threw for 264 yards on 16-of-29 with two touchdowns. It's the 1st time this season Wilson scored at least 25 fantasy points in a game.

Oct 20 10:53pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson completed 16 of his 29 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-15 win over the New York Jets in Week 7. He also ran for a touchdown.

Fantasy Spin: After a shaky beginning, Wilson ended up delivering a solid outing in his first start with the Steelers. At the very least, he has likely bought himself as a few more games under center, and he could become a decent QB2 option.

Oct 20 10:50pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson completed 16 of 29 pass attempts for 264 yards and two touchdowns, adding three carries for three yards and a score on the ground in a 37-15 victory over the New York Jets. Wilson and the Steelers' offense got off to a slow start but started to get in rhythm in the second quarter. He displayed chemistry with wide receiver George Pickens as the duo connected on multiple deep balls and an 11-yard touchdown on the team's last possession of the first half. The 35-year-old later scored on a QB sneak and found Van Jefferson in the end zone from four yards out. Although Justin Fields led Pittsburgh to a 4-2 start, it seems Wilson will be the starter moving forward after a convincing win in which the Steelers scored 31 unanswered points. Fantasy managers can view him as a QB2 option heading into a Week 8 meeting with the New York Giants.

Dynasty | The Steelers are planning on starting Russell Wilson at quarterback this week. Dynasty Analysis: Wilson has worked his way back from a calf injury and will replace Justin Fields in the starting lineup. It's a curious move as Fields has the team at 4-2 and tied for first place in the AFC North. Still, the Steelers are clearly hesitant in unleashing Fields as a passer and have made their game plans extraordinarily conservative on offense. Fields is likely to play in this one and Wilson is going to have precious little time to prove he should continue to start. In short, this looks like a situation to avoid for the foreseeable future in terms of dynasty lineups.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Oct 19 1:23pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson is expected to start over QB Justin Fields in Week 7, per sources on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Spin: It was only a matter of time before the Steelers went to Wilson, who is finally healthy. Fields did a solid job in his six starters, but his passing left a lot to be desired and Pittsburgh's offense simply wasn't good enough overall for him to cement the job. Wilson provides a clear upgrade as a passer, which should provide a boost to all Steelers pass-catchers, especially George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth. With this being his 2024 debut, Wilson is best left on the bench until we see how he acclimates, but he could be a QB2 option moving forward. Meanwhile, it's worth holding on to Fields for now just in case Wilson crashes and burns and the Steelers go back to their younger option.

From TheHuddle

Oct 19 11:20am CT

The Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to start quarterback Russell Wilson on Sunday night against the New York Jets in Week 7 now that he is finally healthy. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says to expect both Wilson and Justin Fields to play, but Wilson is expected to play the bulk of the snaps under center. Wilson was the presumptive starter back in training camp before suffering a calf strain, which kept him out for the first six weeks of the season while Fields led the team to a 4-2 start. The writing was on the wall for the Steelers to turn to Wilson this week when he took first-team practice reps over Fields. The 35-year-old Wilson surely doesn't have the type of mobility that Fields provides, which could be an issue against a Jets defense that ranks third in sacks and fifth in QB pressure rate in 2024. Wilson has led the NFL in sacks taken twice in the last five years. At best, treat Wilson as a low-end QB2 in fantasy.

Oct 17 3:50pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson expressed that he will return to the field this weekend against the New York Jets. The veteran quarterback told Mike DeFabo of The Athletic, "It's the first game of the year for me. But I've been fortunate to be in a lot of first games. So the confidence is there, obviously." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor who is taking first-team reps during practice, but this suggests that Wilson has claimed the top spot on the depth chart over Justin Fields and will return to the field for the first time this season. Wilson faces a tough task in his season debut as the Jets have allowed the second-fewest points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Last season, Wilson threw for a career-low 3,070 passing yards with 26 scores.

From RotoBaller

Oct 16 2:10pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson handled first-team reps in the open portion of Wednesday's practice, according to team beat writer Mike DeFabo. The veteran has been dealing with a calf injury this season but was a full participant in practice all of last week and looks to be trending toward starting against the New York Jets in Week 7. The Steelers have a 4-2 record but have passed for just 166.8 yards per game under Justin Fields. Wilson struggled mightily in his time with the Denver Broncos, but he finished as a top-15 fantasy quarterback in 2022 and 2023. He's unlikely to be a significant factor in single-QB leagues, but he's a must-add option in superflex and two-QB formats.

From RotoBaller

Oct 16 1:43pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson got first-team reps in practice on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Spin: This was expected, as head coach Mike Tomlin said the veteran signal-caller would at some point this week. The Steelers haven't made it official who will start yet, but all signs are pointing to Wilson. Wilson is a QB2 if he suits up, but a shaky one, as it's his first game of the season and he's playing behind a lackluster offensive line.

From TheHuddle

Oct 15 2:13pm CT

Dynasty | The Steelers are giving Russell Wilson the first team reps with the plans to likely start him this week. Dynasty Analysis: Nothing is official and it also sounds like Mike Tomlin may play both quarterbacks this week. This is surprising considering Fields has the team at 4-2 and playing decently on offense. Still, Fields hasn't done anything spectacularly and has done more "game managing" than anything else. It's fair to wonder if that's really based more on game plans than Fields, who was looking like a player trying to not turn the ball over and do what he's asked. Regardless, this is a situation worth monitoring this week. Neither quarterback is looking like a great option at the moment.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Oct 15 12:10pm CT

The Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to give quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) first-team repetitions in practice this week, putting him in line to make his Steelers debut and start on Sunday night against the New York Jets in Week 7. Pittsburgh is off to a 4-2 start with Justin Fields under center, but Wilson's calf injury is fully healed. Tomlin said Wilson "proved his health last week" and confirms he's "in consideration" to start on Sunday. He won't rule out playing both QBs against the Jets. It's a curious decision, to say the least, given how poorly Wilson looked in the last two seasons with the Broncos. Fields hasn't been amazing, but he's done enough to warrant keeping the job and has five touchdowns and only one interception while completing a career-high 66.3% of his passes through six games. He's also run for five scores. In a tough matchup against the Jets defense in primetime, Wilson will be a midrange QB2, at best, if he's officially named the starter for this week.

Oct 15 11:23am CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson (calf) is in line to start in Week 7 against the New York Jets, according to sources. He'll work with the first-team in practice this week.

Fantasy Spin: The Steelers were 4-2 with Justin Fields, and Wilson may stabilize some things offensively, but he's a downgrade in fantasy. He's only worth having in two-QB leagues.

Pittsburgh Steelers S Damontae Kazee (ankle), LB Nick Herbig (hamstring), RB Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) and DE DeMarvin Leal (neck) did not practice on Friday, Oct. 11, and have been ruled out for Week 6. Also, LB Alex Highsmith (groin) and TE MyCole Pruitt (knee) were limited but have been ruled out, RB Jaylen Warren (knee) practiced in full but is questionable, and QB Russell Wilson (calf), RB Najee Harris (rest), S Minkah Fitzpatrick (rest), OG Isaac Seumalo (rest), LB T.J. Watt (rest), DL Cameron Heyward (rest), DL Larry Ogunjobi (rest) and TE Pat Freiermuth (calf) practiced in full and were removed from the injury report.

Oct 11 4:13pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson (calf) practiced in full for the third straight day on Friday, Oct. 11, and was removed from the injury report.

Fantasy Spin: Finally, Wilson is off the injury report for the first time this season. However, he's not going to start right away, as head coach Mike Tomlin revealed Justin Fields will start again. That said, it might not be long before Wilson gets the job that he won prior to the start of the season back should Fields falter.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 12:33pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson (calf) had a good week of practice and will likely be the second quarterback in Week 6 versus Las Vegas Raiders, according to head coach Mike Tomlin on Friday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Spin: It appears Week 7 will be the time Tomlin will be forced to make a choice: stick with Fields or go back to the quarterback he named as a starter before Wilson suffered a setback with his calf about a week or so before the opener. It is possible that another loss on Sunday would make it easier for Tomlin to go back to Wilson, although it is unclear how much more he gives the offense than Fields. Both players are QB2 options for the foreseeable future.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 12:23pm CT

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson (calf) is expected to be active for the first time this season and will act as the backup quarterback behind Justin Fields in Week 6, head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Friday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Spin: Wilson was a full participant all week so this situation will need to be monitored moving forward considering the Steelers could make a switch at quarterback at some point in the future. For now, though, Fields is a fringe Qb1 option.
