Cook did not have quite the season as expected last year. He played most of the season with the Jets before getting released late in the year, giving him a chance to sing with a playoff contender. He signed with the Ravens and ran eight times for 23 yards in their divisional playoff game. Cook had just double-digit carries once all season, which came in Week 1 with the Jets. He did not have a single game all season with double-digit fantasy points. Cook had 214-rushing yards in 15 games with the Jets. Cook averaged just 3.2 yards per carry. He will look to revive his career this season, but likely remains in a backup role. Cook had four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons before last year, going him good value as a NFL backup. Cook turns 29 before the start of the season, so his best years might be behind him. Cook does a good job of setting his blocks and making plays in the open field. He has good speed at the running back spot. He catches the ball well and is a very good overall three-down back. Injuries can be a concern for Cook, having some nagging injuries throughout his career.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Cook is trending the wrong way. He could rebound some this year but don't expect a huge turnaround at this stage of his career. Cook could be worth a late-round gamble for fantasy teams based on his track record. Look for around 500 total yards and a few scores.
Like a fancy sports car that once had a hefty sticker price, free agent RB Dalvin Cook rushed 67 times for just 214 yards and 0 TDs while splitting time between the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens last season. Cook was a fantasy football star from 2019-2022 in Minnesota during the years he was healthy, but the drop-off was evident in 2023 as Cook failed to produce in New York while averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and showing a lot less burst. He is currently a free agent and will turn 29 years old before the 2024 NFL Season starts. A lot of times when running backs decline, it is a rapid one where they go from starting to out of the league in a little over a season much like the career trajectories of Melvin Gordon and Leonard Fournette. Cook is probably a long shot to even make an NFL roster in 2024.

Dynasty | Running back Dalvin Cook remains unsigned. Dynasty Analysis: Cook spent time with the Jets and Ravens last year but didn't make an impact for either team. This was pretty unforeseen as he was coming off a solid 2022 featuring his fourth straight 1,000-yard season with Minnesota. It seems Father Time may have caught up with Cook but it still seems unlikely he doesn't find a new home somewhere. Teams like the Bengals, Browns, Broncos. Raiders, Cowboys, Giants, and Commanders all have varying needs at the position and could have interest in the coming weeks and months. At this point, Cook looks like a roster clogger in dynasty leagues.
Free-agent running back Dalvin Cook said he's "ready to roll" and would like to find a new team before training camp this summer to avoid his struggles in 2023. Cook, the former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl RB, signed with the New York Jets in mid-August last year and never got off the ground. He had just 67 carries for 214 yards in 15 games with the Jets before ultimately landing on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad before taking part in the Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans. The 28-year-old was coming off surgery last year and looked sluggish, averaging a career-worst 3.2 yards per carry. "I feel great, man," Cook said. He should be able to latch on with a team for some veteran depth at the position in the next month or two, but at this point in his career, he's facing an uphill battle to regain any kind of fantasy relevance.
