2024 RTSports Outlook

Henry had another productive season for the Patriots. He was 19th overall in fantasy tight end scoring despite missing the last three game because of injury. He had five games with double-digit fantasy points. Henry had his third straight season with the Patriot of catching 40-plus passes. He re-signed with the team after the season to likely remain the top tight end in the offense Henry has 40-plus receptions five straight seasons. Henry is a pretty complete tight end. He is a good athlete and does well as a blocker. He runs good routes and is athletic enough to make plenty of big plays.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Henry can improve on last year and be a top-15 fantasy tight end if all goes well for him. Consider him a solid No. 2 fantasy tight end in an offense that should be improved. He will get his weekly targets and be a top option in the red zone. Henry can get around 50 receptions for 600 yards and six scores.

RotoBaller's Outlook

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry enters the 2024 season as the top player on the depth chart. With that said, he still faces competition. Henry played alongside Mike Gesicki last season, and with Gesicki landing in Cincinnati during free agency, the Patriots replaced him with Austin Hooper. They also signed Mitchell Wilcox and drafted Jaheim Bell. Hooper has averaged 49.3 catches over his last seven seasons, though that number has started to decline on a per-year basis. For example, as the backup tight end in Las Vegas last year, Hooper caught just 25 passes, his lowest mark since his rookie year. Regardless of whether Hooper is trending up or down, he's still the clear No. 2 behind Henry. In fact, Henry himself might be trending up after the Patriots hired Alex Van Pelt as offensive coordinator. Van Pelt helped tight end David Njoku set numerous career-bests in Cleveland last year, and he could do the same with Henry in New England especially since Henry doesn't face immense competition. The Patriots have a crowded wide receiver room, but it's not very top-heavy. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye should have no trouble developing an early rapport with Henry, whose experience drastically exceeds starting receivers Kendrick Bourne, Demario Douglas, and Ja'Lynn Polk. With experience and heavy volume on the way for Henry, the final piece of the puzzle is the state of New England's offense. Targets are great, but Henry can only maximize his performance if the Patriots' offense sustains long drives and gets plenty of red-zone opportunities for its playmakers. The Patriots made some key additions this offseason, but they'll still face some growing pains with Maye (or Jacoby Brissett) under center and Jerod Mayo entering his first season as head coach. Therefore, there are clear pros and cons for Henry heading into 2024. He ranks as a mid-to-low TE2 in fantasy football, which falls in line with his ADP of 161 (18th among tight ends). He's being drafted at an appropriate price tag and is a fine late-round option in most fantasy leagues.

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry has been the top dog at the position so far in offseason workouts. Henry has been reliable between the numbers for the team's quarterbacks. Along with Henry, seventh-round rookie Jaheim Bell is finding his footing in practices, and his speed to run the seam has become more apparent with each repetition. Austin Hooper has struggled at times to create separation and is set to carve out more of a role as a blocker in the run game than as a receiver. The 29-year-old had a career-low 419 receiving yards in a bad Patriots offense last year, but don't let his six touchdown passes go overlooked. He signed a three-year extension to stay in New England this offseason and should once again be a highly-used red-zone target by either quarterback Jacoby Brissett or rookie Drake Maye. Henry could be an intriguing touchdown-dependent TE2 in fantasy, especially if Maye takes the starting job sooner than later.

Dynasty | The New England Patriots have re-signed tight end Hunter Henry. Dynasty Analysis: Henry gets a three-year deal and will stay in New England for the foreseeable future. He posted a decent season with the Patriots last year as he posted 42 catches for 419 yards and six touchdowns even with sub-par quarterback play. An imminent upgrade at that spot could bode well for Henry but it's hard to see him as much more than a streaming option or backup on a dynasty roster, especially since he'll turn 30 next year.

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry was scheduled to be a free agent next week, but the organization signed him to a three-year, $27 million deal on Friday. Henry signed with the Patriots on a three-year deal during the 2021 offseason after five years with the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers. He's hauled in 143 passes for 1,531 yards and 17 touchdowns in his three years with New England despite poor quarterback play from Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. Unless New England's next quarterback is a vast improvement, Henry will remain a touchdown-dependent fantasy option with limited upside.

Mar 8 10:13am CT

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry agreed to a three-year deal worth $27 million with a max value of $30 million, according to sources Friday, March 8.

Fantasy Spin: Henry will be staying put in New England likely working with a rookie quarterback. He's a back-end TE1 with touchdown upside in any given week.

New England Patriots impending free-agent TE Hunter Henry is a player the team would like to re-sign this offseason, but he likely will hit the free-agent market. The two sides are not close to an agreement at this time.

Fantasy Spin: The Patriots have a little over a week to reach a deal with Henry before he can start talking with other teams. He will be a starter no matter where he signs and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

Jan 6 6:43pm CT

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Jan. 6. Also, TE La'Michael Pettway was signed to the active roster from the practice squad, and TE Matt Sokol and OT Andrew Stueber were elevated from the practice squad.

From TheHuddle

Jan 5 9:00pm CT

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry (knee) won't suit up for the Week 18 matchup against the New York Jets. The veteran tight end will see his 2023 campaign come to an end with the Pats not in playoff position. He finished with 42 receptions, 419 yards, and six touchdowns in 2023. Henry will come short of his fifth straight 500-plus yard campaign. The 29-year-old looked much better once Bailey Zappe took over under center. His absence on Sunday should mean that Mike Gesicki gets more looks as the No. 1 tight end.

From RotoBaller

Jan 5 4:03pm CT

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 5, and has been ruled out for Week 18.

Fantasy Spin: Mike Gesicki should be the top tight end for the Patriots this week with Henry unavailable. He probably will see a handful of targets during the game but probably can be avoided in most leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 4 10:30pm CT

New England Patriots tight ends Hunter Henry (knee) and Pharaoh Brown (ribs) were both limited in practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Henry is trying to make it back for what is expected to be head coach Bill Belichick's last game with the organization after the 29-year-old tight end missed the last two games with a knee injury. In two games before getting hurt, Henry had 10 catches on 12 targets for 106 yards and three touchdowns, so he'll have some low-cost sleeper potential in DFS if he's able to return and serve as a red-zone target for quarterback Bailey Zappe in the Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Jets. If Henry misses the final game of the year, Brown and Mike Gesicki should have bigger roles, but neither would be particularly attractive in fantasy lineups.

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 4.

Fantasy Spin: Henry is an important part of the passing game for the Patriots, so fantasy players will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if he plays in Week 18. He can be a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues if active.

From TheHuddle

Jan 3 4:13pm CT

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Fantasy Spin: Henry has been sidelined for a few weeks because of the injury, and his status for Week 18 is uncertain at this point. Fantasy players should monitor the situation because Henry can be a No. 1 tight end in leagues if active.

From TheHuddle

Dec 31 11:03am CT

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) is not active for Week 17's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Spin: Henry had been listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited practice participant throughout the week. However, he will wind up missing his second consecutive game. None of the Patriots' backups at tight end should be considered viable fantasy options.

From TheHuddle

Dec 31 11:00am CT

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry (knee) is officially inactive for the Week 17 game against the division-rival Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Henry will now miss his second straight game despite being limited in practice all week. In his absence, Mike Gesicki and Pharaoh Brown will split the workload at the tight end spot. In last week's Christmas Eve win over the Denver Broncos, Gesicki and Brown had two catches apiece, with Gesicki being fortunate enough to find the end zone. Gesicki is the better bet for production in a tough matchup against the Bills, but fantasy managers should stay away, as the 28-year-old has only 24 receptions for 204 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games in 2023 in his first year with the Patriots.

From RotoBaller

Dec 31 10:43am CT

The New England Patriots have declared RB JaMycal Hasty, DT Sam Roberts, OT Trent Brown, TE Hunter Henry, WR Kayshon Boutte, SS Jabrill Peppers and QB Nathan Rourke inactive for Week 17.
