2024 RTSports Outlook

A move to New England was not a great one for Gesicki, seeing a dip in production. He finished with his worst statistics since his rookie season, having 29 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns. He did not have a single game with double-digit fantasy points. Gesicki signed with the Bengals and will look to earn the starting job with his new team. He has three seasons for his career with 50-plus receptions. Gesicki plays more like a receiver than a tight end. He is a good athlete that just makes plays. He has very good hands and runs plus routes. He has dropped just seven passes in five seasons. He is not much of a blocker, though, which will keep him off the field at times.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Gesicki could have a few big games with the Bengals. He is not a starter but could be a solid spot play, especially in deeper formats. His track record suggest there is a chance he helps fantasy teams once again. Look for Gesicki to get around 45 receptions for 500 yards and a few scores.

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki (undisclosed) is reportedly dealing with "tightness" and is considered "day-to-day," according to head coach Zac Taylor. While it's never ideal to miss time or be limited in practice, this should not be much of a concern. The veteran from Penn State has racked up 260 receptions for 2,861 yards and 20 touchdowns through his first 98 games with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. Although the Bengals selected Erick All Jr. in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft, Gesicki could begin the season as the clear TE1 for quarterback Joe Burrow as All works his way back from a torn ACL and adjusts to the NFL. That said, Gesicki likely has limited upside while competing for targets with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. He is best served as a late-round flier in traditional fantasy leagues and best-ball setups.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Mike Gesicki (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day because of some tightness, according to head coach Zak Taylor.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Mike Gesicki is expected to be used in a 'big slot' role, according to sources Monday, July 15.

Fantasy Spin: Gesicki upgraded his offense this offseason, but the competition for targets is immense. Gesicki probably won't be a consistent option, but he may have some streaming capabilities if he earns a decent target share.

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki "shifted all around the line of scrimmage" during offseason programs, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic. Several playmakers within Cincinnati's offense had their versatility on display recently and Gesicki was no exception. The 28-year-old is coming off a 29-catch, 244-yard, and two-touchdown season in New England where he operated behind Hunter Henry. He's due for increased volume in 2024 given that he projects as the Bengals' No. 1 tight end. A versatile skill set would allow him to get on the field even more, and it seems like the Bengals will explore using Gesicki in a variety of ways. It's too early to let this impact his fantasy stock, but he could flirt with the low-end TE2 tier this season.

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Iowa tight end Erick All with the No. 115 overall selection in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft on Saturday. All will join a tight end corps in Cincinnati that already includes newcomer Mike Gesicki and Drew Sample. All led Iowa in receiving yards (299) and touchdowns (three) last year despite missing half of the year due to a torn ACL. He also had spinal surgery in 2022, so there is a real injury concern with All at the next level. When he's healthy, though, he's an intriguing tight end prospect for a Bengals team that lacks any real big-name player at the position. Even if All is healthy in his rookie year in 2024, it's hard to envision him becoming a major player in an offense that already has plenty of mouths to feed.

Dynasty | Gesicki signs a one year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Dynasty Analysis: Gesicki was once a highly touted TE who hasn't lived up to the hype. After five seasons with the Dolphins and last year with the Patriots, he joins the Bengals on a one year deal. He is a one-dimensional receiving TE who is a liability in the blocking game and will likely split time with newly re-signed Drew Sample. That said, there is some potential upside for fantasy, but managers shouldn't count on plugging him into your lineup anytime soon.

Free-agent TE Mike Gesicki (Patriots) agreed to a one-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals Tuesday, March 12. The deal is worth up to $3.25 million.

Fantasy Spin: Gesicki has the likes of Tanner Hudson and Irv Smith Jr. to battle with. He has had two bad years in a row and turns 29 in October. But this is about as good of a landing spot as he could have hoped for. He'll be among the more attractive TE2s with upside.

Veteran free-agent tight end Mike Gesicki is joining the Cincinnati Bengals on a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million. The 2018 second-round pick has compiled 260 receptions on 415 targets for 2,861 yards and 20 touchdowns across five seasons with the Miami Dolphins and one season with the New England Patriots. The Bengals have not had an overly productive tight end in the Joe Burrow era, but if Tee Higgins is granted the trade he requested on Monday, Gesicki could become a top-three option in a potent passing game. There are still plenty of free agent and NFL draft moves to be made, though, so it's too early to assess, Gesicki's upside in 2024. At the very least, he should be in a strong offense with touchdown opportunities in the red zone.
