2024 RTSports Outlook

Shakir got more chances last year and played well in an expanded role for the Bills. He had 39 receptions for 611 yards and two touchdowns, averaging an impressive 15.7 yards per reception. He had three games with double-digit fantasy points. He also scored touchdowns in each of the Bills two playoffs games. Shakir has a chance to play an even bigger role this season with Gabe Davis gone and Stefon Diggs gone. Shakir has top speed and can help in a variety of ways, getting work as a receiver, runner and return man. He has very good moves in space and can make plays after the catch. He will struggle a little with contested catches and lacks some strength.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Shakir can take another step forward this year. He could be a solid No. 4 for fantasy teams, worth some spot starts along the way this season. He could get around 60 receptions for 900 yards and five or so touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

After a non-existent rookie season, Buffalo Bills wide receiverKhalil Shakircame on in the back half of 2023 and actually had some helpful production for the Bills (and fantasy managers), albeit inconsistent.Josh Allenwill be looking for a new WR1 with the departures of fantasy corner-stoneStefon Diggs(160 targets) and deep-threatGabe Davis(81 targets). Shakir has an excellent chance to provide WR4/FLEX value despite the presence ofDalton Kincaid, newly signed free agentCurtis Samuel, and rookie second-round pickKeon Coleman. In 2023, the Buffalo Bills threw the ball fifth-most in the NFL, so the volume could be there for Shakir if he separates himself from the pack early on with a few strong performances. He's certainly worth a flyer at his current price -; WR57 in NFFC ADP / WR58 RotoBaller rank -; in lineup leagues, and a must-have in best ball formats just in case he turns into Allen's go-to guy.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (lower body) said he's all good and expects to be 100 percent healthy for the start of training camp at the end of July. Shakir suffered an undisclosed lower-body injury during minicamp practice earlier this week and didn't practice the rest of the week. However, it appears that the injury isn't serious and won't keep him off the field for the start of training camp. Now that both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis aren't in Buffalo, the 24-year-old former fifth-round pick in 2022 will have an increased role in the Bills' passing attack in 2024 after finishing the 2023 season off on a strong note. Still, Shakir has a ways to go to become relevant in standard-sized fantasy leagues after catching 39 passes for 611 yards and only two touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (10 starts) in his second NFL campaign in 2023.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (lower body) walked off the field after suffering an injury during the early portion of 7-on-7 drills Tuesday, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. Shakir briefly stood on the sideline with a trainer before leaving the field. This is a significant development for Buffalo given that Shakir was competing for a starting role after the departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason. The Boise State product showed flashes of potential in 2023, including over the final three weeks of the campaign when he caught all 13 of his targets for 189 receiving yards. Fantasy managers should monitor his injury status going forward, though he's not a super appealing option in typical 12-team redraft leagues anyway.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (shoulder) overcame a shoulder injury to close out Sunday's 27-24 Divisional Round defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, tallying team highs in receptions (seven) and targets (nine) with 44 yards and a touchdown. Shakir made an impressive 13-yard catch for a score in the front corner of the end zone early in the fourth quarter before heading to the locker room, but he returned after just a handful of missed plays. Proving to be a very capable producer when granted opportunities, the 23-year-old second-year wideout hauled in 49 of his 57 targets for 686 yards (12.0 yards per target) and four touchdowns overall this year. Perhaps more versed in supplying efficiency than erratic field stretcher Gabe Davis (knee), Shakir will sport a compelling late-round fantasy-flier case in 2024 drafts with Davis headed for unrestricted free agency and Stefon Diggs turning 31 years old in November.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (shoulder) returned to Sunday's meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs. He suffered a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter. However, after getting checked out in the locker room, he's back in the game. The update is undoubtedly good news for Buffalo, considering the wideout had a team-high six grabs while scoring a touchdown before exiting.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday's postseason clash with the Chiefs. Gabe Davis (knee) wasn't active for this one, so Shakir took advantage by leading the team with six catches for 34 yards. He also had a touchdown. Kansas City has held Stefon Diggs in check throughout the contest, which could mean more targets for Trent Sherfield and Dalton Kincaid for the rest of the night.

While Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir's managed just three targets in last Monday's wild-card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, he parlayed them into an efficient three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown. With Gabe Davis (knee) ruled out for Sunday's Divisional Round versus the Kansas City Chiefs, Shakir should once again fill in as Buffalo's No. 2 wideout behind top target Stefon Diggs. Shakir has gathered in all of his past 16 targets for 220 yards, stepping up for the Bills in a big way on numerous occasions when they've been shorthanded since last year's rookie season. In eight games either without Davis or Dawson Knox dating back to Oct. 2022 -- including Davis' Week 18 exit -- Shakir has made the most of his 35 targets with 29 catches for 546 yards and three scores. That checks out to a ridiculous 15.6 yards per target. Costing an inexpensive $3,800 on DraftKings, Shakir sets up as a rather chalky DFS play and preferable salary-relief option.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir capitalized on Gabe Davis' (knee) absence as the team topped the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17 in Monday's wild-card action, catching all three of his targets for 31 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Josh Allen turned Shakir's way on his first pass of the evening, but the 23-year-old slot receiver initially took a backseat in an elevated role. That all changed when Shakir made a heads-up play by keeping his balance on a Minkah Fitzpatrick tackle attempt for a thrilling 17-yard catch-and-run score midway through the fourth quarter to give the Bills a commanding 31-17 cushion. While the three looks were a bit disappointing, Shakir provided excellent value for those who played him in DFS at nearly DraftKings' minimum cost and demonstrated why he was quietly one of the league's more efficient wideouts this year. Shakir's Divisional Round outlook will closely hinge upon Davis' availability next Sunday.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir made a bit of a name for himself in his second season. Shakir found a home in the slot for the Bills, leading the team with 398 slot snaps alongside perimeter threats Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis (knee) and forming quite the connection with quarterback Josh Allen. Vacuuming up 39 of his 45 passes for 611 yards and two touchdowns, the 23-year-old former fifth-rounder paced the NFL's qualifying wideouts with both a pristine 86.6% catch rate as well as a hyper-efficient 13.1 yards per target. That should go a long way in earning Allen's trust as a bankable secondary option behind alpha target Diggs, and Shakir is in line to function as Buffalo's No. 2 wideout with Davis out for Super Wild Card Weekend on Monday versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Frigid temperatures could hamper Buffalo's passing game, but Shakir's $3,400 DraftKings salary may be too valuable to pass up on as a DFS budget play.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir led the team with 105 yards in Sunday night's division-clinching 21-14 road victory over the Miami Dolphins, reeling in each of his six passes. Shakir was tasked with an every-down role in the aftermath of Gabe Davis' (knee) injury in the first half, and he stepped up for the Bills in a big way. Shakir's highlight of the night arrived when he took a short pass for a 46-yard catch-and-run along the sideline in the first quarter. The 23-year-old former fifth-rounder has proven to be fairly productive when given the opportunity in 2023, and he could act as Buffalo's No. 2 wideout behind top target Stefon Diggs if Davis isn't able to overcome his knee issue by the time next Sunday's Wild Card meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers rolls around.

Bills' WR Khalil Shakir had 6 receptions for 105 yards but no touchdowns in Sunday's win in Miami.

Jan 1 7:10pm CT

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir saw one rushing attempt for a gain of 10 yards and caught all four of his targets in the passing game for 39 yards in the team's Week 17 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. The 23-year-old does have some explosive abilities with the ball in his hands in Buffalo's offense, but it hasn't amounted to much for fantasy managers. Shakir has found paydirt only two times in 16 games and has 33 receptions for 506 yards on 39 targets all year. Since his last time scoring in the Week 11 win over the New York Jets, Shakir has 11 receptions on 14 targets for 143 yards and no touchdowns through the air. As long as Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis and tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox stay healthy, Shakir will be hard-pressed to be a reliable fantasy option.
