Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir caught all five of his targets for 54 yards and added one rush for two yards on Thursday Night Football. Josh Allen, who completed just 13 passes on the night, targeted Shakir early. Five of Shakir's six touches came in the first half as Buffalo built their lead. Thanks to James Cook and a stifling defense, the Bills were up 21 points midway through the third quarter and didn't need to throw to maintain their dominant victory. The 24-year-old appears to be the safest Buffalo receiver to roster in fantasy football. He'll be a low-end WR3 when the Bills host the Jaguars on Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir scored a touchdown in Week 1, but that's all he did to excite fantasy managers. Three catches (on three targets) won't cut it as a flex-worthy option every week, because the touchdowns won't stay consistent. That's the problem facing Buffalo wide receivers. Josh Allen will score a lot of fantasy points and throw the football up and down the field. The matchup against Miami is forecasted to be one of the highest-scoring games of the Week 2 slate. It's just difficult to predict who, if anyone, will command the lion's share of targets. Nine different receivers caught a pass from Allen in Week 1. If it's a winning formula, why deviate? Shakir is the safest of the Bills' wide receivers, but target distribution will likely cap his upside.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the team's 34-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. His score came on a screen pass from 11 yards out late in the third quarter to give the Bills the lead for good. The touchdown saved what was a low-volume, mediocre stat line. Shakir earned three targets, two fewer than rookie Keon Coleman and the same number as running back James Cook. Nine different receivers recorded a catch on Sunday as Josh Allen spread his 23 completions throughout the offense. The target distribution will prevent Shakir from being much more than a WR4 when the Bills travel to Miami for Thursday Night Football in Week 2.

The one returning Buffalo Bill at the position, Khalil Shakir could become the top wide receiver option for Josh Allen in 2024. While he may be the betting favorite, the target distribution in Buffalo is one of the biggest question marks for fantasy football. Shakir, Curtis Samuel, and rookie Keon Coleman were all selected late in fantasy football drafts. Shakir will operate primarily out of the slot, giving him a safe PPR floor against a shaky Arizona defense. It's hard to project Shakir or any other wideouts booming in the team's season opener. Allen will spread the ball around while they establish a hierarchy. Because of the uncertainty, Shakir can be left on benches as a WR4 in most league formats and sizes. But if there's one Buffalo wide receiver to start in Week 1, it's Shakir.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir led the way with a team-high 28 receiving yards in Saturday afternoon's preseason loss to the visiting Chicago Bears at Highmark Stadium, bringing in each of his three passes in the defeat. On a fourth down early in the second quarter, he had a 19-yard gain to keep an eventual scoring drive alive. Shakir is staring a massive opportunity approaching his third year with the Bills, with top targets Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis now being off the roster. The 24-year-old slot receiver fell almost entirely under the radar throughout most of 2023, but he quietly led the entire NFL with 13.6 yards per target among qualifying wideouts over his 45 regular-season targets. He'll be working alongside newcomer Curtis Samuel, who spent the majority of his time in the slot last season, but Shakir has demonstrated a clear rapport with quarterback Josh Allen. Treat him as a WR4 with WR3 upside in 12-team fantasy drafts.

Jul 31 12:40pm CT

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir has been showing that he's a trusted asset for quarterback Josh Allen during training camp practices. Shakir had one of the biggest plays of the day on Tuesday, and it was a reminder of how much Allen trusts him in late-game situations. It started early in Shakir's rookie season, when he was the recipient of an Allen pass late against the Ravens in 2022. Shakir's role grew to a nearly high-snap player last year, and now the stage is set in 2024 for the Shakir-Allen connection to continue. The 24-year-old has been one of the most consistent, dependable players in camp so far. As things look now, Shakir should operate in three-wide sets to open the season in Buffalo, alongside rookie Keon Coleman and veteran Curtis Samuel. In deeper fantasy leagues, he might be worth a flier as a WR4/5 bench asset.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (lower body) returned to practice Wednesday after missing time due to a lower body injury. Shakir initially suffered the injury during minicamp. His recovery is crucial as he aims to secure a more prominent role in Buffalo's passing game, especially following the offseason departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Shakir stands out as the only returning wide receiver who has caught a pass from quarterback Josh Allen in a game, showcasing his potential to become a key target. Last season, he impressed with 39 receptions for 611 yards and two touchdowns over 17 games. He is competing with rookie Keon Coleman, tight end Dalton Kincaid, and veteran Curtis Samuel for targets in Buffalo's passing game. With minimal competition for targets and established chemistry with Allen, Shakir presents significant value as a late-round pick in fantasy drafts, offering upside for those looking to round out their roster.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (lower body) said he's all good and expects to be 100 percent healthy for the start of training camp at the end of July. Shakir suffered an undisclosed lower-body injury during minicamp practice earlier this week and didn't practice the rest of the week. However, it appears that the injury isn't serious and won't keep him off the field for the start of training camp. Now that both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis aren't in Buffalo, the 24-year-old former fifth-round pick in 2022 will have an increased role in the Bills' passing attack in 2024 after finishing the 2023 season off on a strong note. Still, Shakir has a ways to go to become relevant in standard-sized fantasy leagues after catching 39 passes for 611 yards and only two touchdowns in 17 regular-season games (10 starts) in his second NFL campaign in 2023.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (lower body) walked off the field after suffering an injury during the early portion of 7-on-7 drills Tuesday, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. Shakir briefly stood on the sideline with a trainer before leaving the field. This is a significant development for Buffalo given that Shakir was competing for a starting role after the departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason. The Boise State product showed flashes of potential in 2023, including over the final three weeks of the campaign when he caught all 13 of his targets for 189 receiving yards. Fantasy managers should monitor his injury status going forward, though he's not a super appealing option in typical 12-team redraft leagues anyway.
