2022 Rule Change
A 3:00 timer will be used when we are drafting on RTsports. When the timer expires RTSports will auto draft the next available according to the RTSports top 300 players. Only the commissioner is able to stop the draft in the event of inadvertent pick, ie drafting Kenny Rodgers instead of Arron Rodgers. It is the owners responsibility to notify the commissioner immediately. The owner must notify the commissioner before that round is over.
At No time will any commissioner or any other owner make picks, or determine picks for a team that is not participating in the draft. The picks will be determined by RTSports top 300 next available player.
2020 Rule change
Flex spot added. No additional roster spots. Same draft and roster limits. Flex is RB/WR/TE
2019 RULE CHANGE
OWNERS NOT PUTTING A FULL LINEUP IN-We will be using a Rodger Goodell fine system. For any team that fails to put a full lineup in due to bye-weeks or injury without DECLARING they intend to do so will be fined by the league. For example, if you have 2 good Tight Ends or Kicker and you do not want to drop them, you must declare that your intent is to play that week without that position filled on the message board PRIOR to kickoff of that week's Thursday night game. If the lack of a full lineup is due to an unforseen injury (warmups or late declaration that the player is out) then you will not be fined. The intent of this rule is to prevent LAZINESS or INACTIVITY of non-competitive teams. The fines will be as follows:
1st Offense-$25 fine
2nd Offense-$100 fine
3rd Offense (removal from league)
2016-2017 RULE CHANGE
1) Defensive Points Allowed Bonus- Points scored while a team defense IS NOT on the field WILL NOT count against the team defensive points allowed. For example, the final score of the 49ers vs Seahawks ends 21-7 in favor of the Seahawks. However, the only TD scored by the 49ers was on a interception return TD of Russel Wilson. If you played Seattle defense, you will get a 100 point bonus for a shutout. The total points allowed by THE DEFENSE was zero even though the final score was 21-7.
2) Injured Reserve
(I/R) Roster Spots- Injured Reserved spots are now PERMANENT roster spots. No more re-activation of players placed on the injured reserve. However, there will now be UP TO 3 I/R spots per team. If a player is placed on the I/R, THEY WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY A KEEPER THE FOLLOWING SEASON. I/R moves are now $10. The purpose of the I/R spot rule change is to prevent roster hoarding and make the I/R spot more meaningful when player is placed on the I/R. No longer will borderline players be placed on the IR in the hopes of trade bait later in the season or the following season. This also protects owners from being devastated from multiple franchise players going down in the same season.
3) Conference Re-Alignment/Team Changes-
In response to re-alignment requests and for parody in the league, a team may change conferences ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING OCCURS. a) The team wanting to switch conferences has ALL their original picks. No picks traded away and no picks obtained IN LIEU of their original picks. The team may have additional picks above and beyond their original picks and will be retained by the new owner who will take over the departing owner's team. b) The team being departed has 3 players ranked in RTSports' ADP's top 50 as of 45 days PRIOR to that season's draft. This is to ensure the departing team is not leaving a decimated team behind. c) If A & B are satisfied, the owner wanting to change conferences may declare that they are wishing to change conferences. Their team will then become an Orphan Team and will be open to be bid on to ALL new incoming owners. The departing owner will then become a part of the new owner bid pool and will have to bid on the orphan teams available. The minimum bid for owners wishing to switch conferences will be $150. The owners may bid on the team they just departed if they wish as a backup bid. However, if they are out bid on all the available orphan teams, they will be out of the league and will have to return the following season.
4) Picks traded around to multiple teams-
Any team that becomes an Orphan team will have ALL their original picks returned regardless of who currently has the pick. For example, Team A trades to Team B their 2nd round pick. Team B then trades to Team C that same pick from Team A in exchange for a player/pick. Team A leaves the league. Team C would lose the pick and it would be returned to the new orphan team owner of Team A. Team B would retain the picks/players obtained from Team C even though they traded a bad pick.
5) Picks obtained from Orphan teams-
It was suggested that we start an "escrow account" for traded picks in the event a pick is returned due to a player not returning. We considered this option but looking back at the number of picks traded, it is too difficult to keep track of and causes more account balancing issues. As a compromise, if you feel you might be trading with a team who "might" be leaving, feel free to put in the notes of that pick that there will be monetary compensation in the event the team leaves. We will then add that charge to the team tab. If no notes are entered into the trade details, the regular rules regarding traded picks will stand. For example- Team A trades RB1 to Team B for their 2nd round pick. In the notes of the trade it is stated "Team B will pay $50 to Team A in the event they quit." $50 will be added to Team B's tab and will be charged at the beginning, mid season or end of season collection. If they quit, the $50 held will be sent to Team A. If they return, the $50 will be refunded/applied to the following season fees. There is no set amount to note the returned pick penalty in the notes. It is just an optional negotiating tool to use.
6) Post Season Blind Bids-
Blind bids will now be open throughout playoffs and the end of the season. Free agency will be open TO ALL owners, not just teams in the playoffs. However, minimum blind bids will now be as follows for the POST SEASON ONLY.
Week 15 (Playoffs week 1)- Minimum bid will be the AVERAGE of the HIGHEST TOP 10 winning free agent bids from the entire league.
Week 16 (Playoffs week 2)- Minimum bid will be 1.5x the top 10 average
Week 17 (Playoffs week 3) Minimum bid will be 2x top 10 average
I/R WILL BE OPEN DURING THE POST SEASON UNDER THE I/R RULES ABOVE ***Top 10 winning bid amount average will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season. The purpose of this rule is to open up the ability to obtain a free agent in the post season as opposed to previous years but it will be costly. This is to make teams pay heavily for stumbling into the playoffs with limited rosters who were not active during the regular season. It also makes owners really have to consider if a player is truly worth the cost to add them in the post season but at least gives them the option to be able to do so.
***Please note that these rule changes are a direct response to the rules change requests that were the most common. There may be unintended consequences and we will adjust/remove the rule changes as we move forward and work through it.
2013-2014 RULE CHANGE
-Elimination of yardage bonus points for length of return TD (no more double dip points on return yards). Bonus points for fumble return/interception return length of TD still awarded. -D/ST TDs are now 60 points
-2 Point Conversions are now awarded 15 points for all position players including QBs
2012-2013 RULES
* Draft Order: Draft order for next year (2013-14) is in order of finish within the conference. Last place gets the #1 overall pick through conference champion getting the #8 pick. Draft order is a snake-style format. Tie-breakers are for lower seeding (higher draft pick) is in the REVERSE tie-breaker order of playoff seeding/tie-breaker rules. The order of finish in playoffs will determine overall pick regardless of record. For the 5/6 pick, tie-breaker rules in opposite order will apply. Pick #1-4 will be based on in order of WORST finish, tie-breakers being in opposite order of playoff tie-breaker rules.
1) WAIVER WIRE BLIND BID SYSTEM-We will be using the waiver wire software on RTSports for blind bids. Same rules apply, highest bid wins, but no more emails will be used. Backup bids will be done through the waiver wire blind bid system also. There will be 2 waiver wire periods in the system, 1 for Thursday 1 PM and 1 for Saturday, 1 PM. Any errors will be the responsibility of the owner, commissioners will not have any ability to amend/change any errors after the bid was made. Primary deadline has been moved to Thursday,1 PM to allow more time due to Thursday night football.
***AGAIN, ANY ERRORS ARE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEAM OWNER, MAKE SURE YOU LEARN THE BIDDING SYSTEM AND DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BIDS/BACKUPS, ETC.
2) SPIRIT OF COMPETITION- Owners are not allowed to borrow players or trade back players. Any trade backs or "bail-out" trades will be VETOED. Every trade should be made with the intention that it will be PERMANENT and that the owner may not see that player again on his roster that season in the form of a trade. Trades and transactions should be made with the spirit of competition in mind and should be with the ultimate goal of winning, honestly and on their own.
Kickers will be drafted separate from defenses. Kickers will be TEAM KICKERS
Pot splits: In this league, you are encouraged to win. pot splits will not paid out. funds will be distributed through paypal/CASH APP/VENMO according to the winning teams.
Defenses: In this league, defenses and special teams are one in the same. Example: If a team runs back a punt for a TD, That Team defense will gain the points for yards and the touchdown.
Payment Deadlines
* This will be strictly enforced, I am tired of chasing people down, we have too many people wanting to get in the league to have to deal with this issue. I know times are tough, but if you cant pay your bills, team up with someone and split a team or control your blind bids and transactions and even negotiate fees with your trades. Otherwise, we have people on a wait list ready to get in.
1) Before the Draft- Sept 3
2) Mid-Season (week 8 deadline)- Before kickoff Thursday,
3) Post-Season Payment: By end of the season kickoff, Saturday
TRADE DEADLINE
*week 12 Th 8:00 PM **any teams mathematically eliminated from playoffs may not trade with teams still in the playoff race. Once a team is eliminated from playoffs they can trade with other eliminated teams OR teams both in the playoffs may trade among each other until the final deadline. Eliminated teams can then trade freely to build for the next season.
***TRADES****
Trades must be made with the spirit of competition in mind. Monetary compensation for trades are only to supplement a trade that owners feel is not quite equal. There is no selling players strictly for cash. All cash included will be posted in the notes section of the trade and the money will be transferred through RTSports. All trades must be approved by the commissioners, if it is felt the trade is not made with the spirit of competition in mind (dumping your team, stacking a team, or selling for profit) the trade WILL BE VETOED.
PLAYOFFS
The winner of each division will get a place in the playoffs. There are two wild-card spots available for the next top two teams within the conference.
(Tie-breakers updated 12/2021 and will effect 2022 season. Previous tie-breakers were total points and then H2H points)
-Teams in same division (in order): Overall record, conference record, division record. H2H record, H2H points, Overall Points, Coin Flip
-Teams NOT in the same division (in order): Overall record, conference record, H2H record, H2H points, Overall Points, Coin Flip. Since teams in opposing divisions play each other only once, this will likely be the deciding tie-breaker. However, for future scheduling or if the NFL goes to a 18 game or higher season, the subsequent tie-breakers may be put into use.
* Seeding: The two division winners are seed #1, #2, the two wild cards are #3, #4. Same tie breaker rules apply when seeding teams.
* Losers of the conference championship will be moved to a loser's bracket, tie-breakers are the same as previously stated rules.
***NOTE*** Since conference champions are not from the same conference, conference records and division records will be disregarded. It will be overall record, H2H record, if no head to head game was played, then it will go to total regular season points. If total regular season points are tied, it will go to total season points (including playoffs).
***In the event a post-season game's score is tied, regular tie-breaker rules will apply as stated above.
CASH MONEY PAYOUTS: We have a game called NFL PICK'S, play it, if you pick the most wins in the NFL regular season it pays out $50 for playing; If you are a Divisional champion you get payed out $50; If you get Fourth place you get $75; After all league fees, Payouts and expenses are payed out. Second and Third places split the pot as follows, Third gets 20%, Second gets 30% and the Cen Cal Elite champion Gets 50% of the pot. From my experience, the Champion (1st place) could get between $1000-$2500 depending on the amounted collected from trades and the waiver wire.
Rule Reminders
1) Blind bid deadline is absolute, Thursday @ 1 PM. RTSPORTS handles this not he commish.
2) Selling players will be vetoed and prohibited. The point of the Elite is to have fun, be competitive, build your dynasty and win. Not make a profit.
3) Talk all the shit you want, we all are connected in some way, but know your audience. If you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face then don’t say it on the message board. We all know who we can get away with race, mama and gay jokes with.
FOR THE 2013-14 SEASON:
DRAFT PICKS:Trading draft picks will be suspended the first year of this league. Next year we will have available future draft picks for our draft as long as we have all/most of the owners, the draft picks would be available one week before the draft party if everyone contacts me they are returning.
Keepers: It is my intention that each owner would keep up to three players for next years draft. Like in trading draft picks, it all depends on how many owners return to the league.
New Owner Entry: Owners will no longer be hand selected for the teams. The system for entering the Elite as a new owner will be on the same 'blind bid' system as our Free agency. There is no limit to the amount of owners who can bid on gaining entry to the league. For example: 6 owners want in; only 1 team available: All 6 owners will send their bids directly to the Commissioner. Highest bid wins the team for the bid price regardless of any other lower bids. There is no additional keeper fee. New owners are allowed to keep up to 3 keepers on the team and only for their initial blind bid entry winning bid. Subsequent years will then be reverted to the returning owner fee of $50/keeper for up to 3 keepers.
