Envious Lives Fantasy Football 2024
Commissioner: Douglas Delle Donne
908-625-2060
These are our league by-laws. They may be subject to slight change as we approach the start of the season. If so, I will alert all league members. This applies to the scoring system as well.
1) The cost for each team is $500. There will be 14 teams in the league in one division. Here is a breakdown of the monies:
Cost of League Expenses = $200
Prize $: 14 Teams
Money to be paid out = $6800
Top record regular season (14 weeks) = $525 (#1 seed if tiebreakers nec)
1st place = $2500
2nd place = $1250
3rd place = $625
*4th place = $300 (100 from last place team regular season 14 weeks, #14 seed if
tiebreakers nec)
**Top scoring team for year (17 weeks) = $700 ***Week 1 Money Week = $200
****Toilet Bowl Champion = $100
*****Top scoring playoff team weeks 15-17 = $400
******Top score in a single week for entire season (17 weeks) = $300
*If for some reason there are two teams tied for last place and they tied during the regular season then these two teams will play in week 15 against each other with the loser having to pay the $100.
**All teams will be eligible to win this prize. This prize will be awarded to the team with the most points scored on the year after 17 weeks. All teams should submit lineups through week 17 even if you do not make the playoffs or get knocked out before the championship game.
***Week 1 will be a money week. This week will not have head to head games. Instead you will play against the league average. Whatever team scores the most points in Week 1 will win $200. This will keep the schedule in order for all teams to play each other one time throughout the course of the season in weeks 2-14. The points scored in this week will count towards your overall points for the year. Also, whoever beats the league average gets a win and whoever doesn’t get a loss. If it happens to be a tie then it is a tie.
****Toilet Bowl Champion: This prize will be awarded to the team that wins the toilet bowl playoff bracket. Refer to the playoff portion (10b) of the rules to see how this will work.
*****Top scoring playoff team weeks 15-17: This prize will only be available for the 7 playoff teams. Whichever playoff team seed 1-7 scores the most points with their starting lineups from weeks 15-17 will win this prize regardless if you lost and got bounced from the playoffs.
*******Top weekly score for season: This prize will be awarded the team that scores the highest points in a single week for the entire season.
2) The draft will be on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:00pm SHARP online. The draft will consist of 20 rounds. The order will be determined before draft day. You will pick your draft position for the first round according to your pick position. The last team picked out of the hat gets to choose where he will pick in the first round. The second to last team picked out of the hat will then choose where he will pick in the round and so on down the ladder until all 13 teams choose where they pick. The order of the draft will then flip-flop in every other round. When it is your turn to select a player, you will have 1 minute to make a pick. Once the time has elapsed and a selection has not been made you will be skipped and the next team in line will draft. After that pick has been made the team that was skipped will have one minute to pick again. This process will continue until all picks have been made.
3) Each team must start 13 players total at the following positions:
QB = 1
RB = 2
WR = 2
TE = 1
K = 1
Flex = 1 (either a RB, WR, TE)
DL/LB = 2
DB = 2
Nickel = 1 (DL/LB or DB)
4) Players are only eligible for their primary positions. However, all stats will count for each player. Offensive players and Kickers will receive defensive stats if they accumulate them, such as a tackle or an assist. Defensive players and Kickers will receive offensive stats if they accumulate them such as yardage or TD’s.
5) Trades can be made at any time during the season until 11:59pm on Saturday, November 16th. If a trade appears to be the result of collusion, it is the right of any team in the league to appeal the trade to me. If I feel that it is a substantial appeal than I will turn it over to a three-man committee (Chris Houlihan, Joe Solomon and Billy Genovese), which will vote if the trade should stand or be nullified. This committee will also be used for any unforeseen problems that our league may have. If a problem arises and one of these three is part of the problem, then they will not be able to vote on the issue and I will be the 3rd vote.
5a) If a trade seems to be a 1 week loner, than any team has a right to protest it (as any other trade) and the board will review it. This is a vague topic so we will leave this open to the discussion of the board if it ever occurs. The result of the board can be either to accept the trade: or on the negative end, a denial which can lead to a restructured deal or if need be a forfeit and zero points for the current weeks game by both teams participating if they are found (shady) guilty.
5b) Trade deadline for all trades will be 11:59pm on Saturday nights if you want the players involved to be in the current week’s lineup. Any trades that are made on Sundays will not be processed until the following Tuesday.
6) Waivers day deadline is on Wednesdays at 11:59PM. NO LATER. You will get 1 pick per team during the waivers process. You must do this manually on the site yourself and can submit players at any time during the week until 11:59PM on Wednesday of the current week. We will be using a FAAB (Free Agent Auction Bidding) system only for the Wednesday picks. Each team will get a $500 budget to start with for the regular season (14 weeks). You may bid any amount of your budget each week. Minimum bid is $1 and maximum bid is the maximum amount that each team has left. Obviously these are blind bids. Highest bid on that particular player wins that player and the bid amount will be deducted from your budget. If two or more teams tie in a bid for any player, the team that is lowest in the standings will win the bid. If you reach a $0 budget any time after week 6, you will have the option to purchase an additional $500 budget for a $50 league fee. This is a one-time buy back per team. It is only available if you have a $0 budget between weeks 7-14. If you reach a $0 budget between weeks 1-6 then you will not be allowed to purchase until week 7 and anytime thereafter up to week 14. You do not have to buy back in if you do not want to. It is your option. Any additional buy back money will be split evenly between the final four Championship teams. The free agent period will still be the same from Thursday to Sundays. See rule 6b. If you have a $0 budget you will still be allowed to pick up players Thursday to Sunday on a first-come first-served basis. Waivers and free agents will run the same in playoffs as they have in years past. See rule 10a. No FAAB in playoffs.
6a) Free agents will be available on a first-come first-served basis from Thursdays at noon until Sundays at 12:59PM. If you are over the 23 man roster limit then you must cut players until you get down to 23. A player that gets dropped will be on waivers for 2 days. Once he clears then he will be available to be picked up on a first-come first-served basis.
7) LINEUPS MUST BE SUBMITTED ON THE WEBSITE PRIOR TO THE WEEKS 1ST GAME. You can do this manually yourself on the website. If you are having problems with setting your lineup or have last minute changes, email your opponent and myself your changes. If there are midweek games, ex. Thursday or Saturday, you only have set on the website those players that you will be starting from those games on those days before game time. You may then submit the rest of your lineup on Sunday morning. Keep in mind that you may change your lineup at any time, even on Sunday or Monday, provided that the players that you are changing haven’t played yet for that week. Once a player’s game has started he is officially non-changeable unless he is a part of the IF/THEN clause. (See rule 8)
7a) The Vinnie Riolo Rule: The spirit of the rule is that teams should be fielding a competitive lineup regardless of their place in the standings through the final week of the regular season (week 14). I, as commissioner, can see when and if people are logging on to the site. If an owner is not attending to his team at any point during the season and he has players in his lineup who are not playing (due to injury, suspension, benching, etc.), I will replace them with best healthy alternative from his bench. I will send an e-mail to all league members regarding the changes that I made to keep everyone informed. If for some reason I am playing against this team that week then I will turn the lineup over to the committee and they will set a lineup for the week. The committee will settle all debates over the lineup if one should arise and I feel that it is a legitimate problem. I would ask all team owners to keep an eye out for this problem throughout the season as it may slip by me from time to time. By the way, the douchebag that puts us in this position will be officially tossed from the league after the season is over.
7b) Bye-week Penalties: Any owner who starts a player that is on a bye week, regardless of intention, will be forced to drop that player from their active roster. I don’t care who it is. The player will become a free agent and will be eligible to be added to any roster, including the original owner, during the normal waiver/free agency period. It is each owner's responsibility to submit a valid lineup each week and no exceptions will be made.
8) IF/THEN CLAUSE aka The Jonas Gray Scandal of 2014: (FOR INJURED PLAYERS ONLY) If a player is listed on the INJURY report and you are not sure whether or not he is going to play for that week’s game, you may submit to me an IF/THEN player. That player will be used only if the IF player doesn’t play.
Ex) Christian McCaffrey is questionable for Sunday’s game. Obviously if he plays you want him in your lineup. With the If/Then clause, you may put McCaffrey in your lineup if he plays but if he doesn’t play THEN I want this player in. You would then submit to me a specific player that you would want in as long as he hasn’t played for that week already. It must be a player from your bench. Once the involved player’s games start you will not be able to use this clause for those players if you didn’t previously post it. It must be done before those players game time. Keep in mind that the player must have an injury to be eligible for this rule. If he has a Day to Day designation he must have an injury attached to it in order for this rule to be enforced. Benching’s, Day to Day (non-injury related), personal reasons and any other non-injury related circumstance will not be eligible for this rule. Please post all Injury If/Thens on the website message board. If there is a circumstance that is not defined here please contact me to discuss before game time and we will make a decision before those players games start.
8a) Anti-Tanking Provision: This is a competitive league, created for the league owners to have fun playing fantasy football and bust my balls when I don’t win a championship. While the competition may get heated at times, this is not considered a cut-throat league. In the spirit of competition and league fairness, owners are not allowed to intentionally create a legal starting lineup that gives the opposing team a clear advantage. The executive committee reserves the right to step in and adjust the starting lineup of a team that is clearly trying to intentionally lose a game. If the committee must adjust a team's lineup in two consecutive weeks or for three or more weeks in any one season, the team will be considered inactive and the executive committee may assume ownership of the team and will process all team moves from that point on.
8b) Point Totals and Final Scores: Our league is hosted on RTSports.com. Head to head scoring will be determined each week by the stats from that website. From time to time, the NFL may go back and change the scoring of certain plays later in the week. This usually happens on Wednesdays. If the result of a game is changed because of a stat adjustment, we will honor the change and all players involved will have their scores adjusted as will team records if it applies.
9) Ties will count as ties during the regular season but for playoff spots ties will go as follows:
1) Head to head (winless against all teams in tie eliminates team, see below)
2) Total points scored
3) Highest scoring player total fantasy points
These rules will be applied in sequence until the tie can be broken. Once a team breaks the tie in ties of 3 or more teams, that team is placed in the playoff bracket. The tiebreaker rules are applied starting with head to head and working down the list for the remaining teams. If one of the tied teams (regardless of how many teams are tied) is winless against all of the other teams tied, then that team will be eliminated from that round of tiebreaking and tiebreaker rules will be applied to the remaining teams starting with head to head. If one of the tied teams is undefeated against all tied teams, then that team advances into playoffs and tiebreaker rules will be applied to the remaining teams starting with head to head.
Ex) 4 teams tied with same record. Is any team winless against all 3 others in tie? If yes, they are out. If no, then we go to points scored to break the tie.
Is any team undefeated against tied teams? If yes, team is in playoffs. If no, then we go to points scored to break the tie. Of the remaining teams (now 3), is any team winless against the other 2? If yes, they are out and it goes to a 2-team head to head. If no, it’s down to most points. Same goes if a team is undefeated against the other 2. They are in and it then goes to a 2 team head to head for the remaining tiebreaker.
Playoff tiebreaker schemes can get very hairy. Please keep in mind that these are subject to change at the discretion of the board. An unforeseen problem may arise that I may not have outlined. Please be advised that if this does happen our board panel will take into consideration all options and make a unanimous decision towards the result.
Playoffs
10) The playoffs will consist of 7 teams. The top 6 records make it in as the 1-4 seeds and 6-7 seeds respectively. The last team to make the playoffs will be the team left with the most points scored regardless of record and that team will be slotted as the 5 seed.
10a) The season will be 14 weeks long. In week 15, seed 1 will have a bye, (but seed 1 will still submit a lineup for that week so he can go for the overall points scored for the year prize and playoff total); while 2-7 will play each other as will 3-6 and 4-5. In week 16, seed 1 will play the LOWEST SEED REMAINING and the remaining two teams will play each other. In week 17, the two winners from week 16 will play for the championship while the two losers from week 16 will play for 3rd place. Keep in mind that the highest seed in each game throughout the playoffs is the home team. Also losing teams after week 15, make sure that you still submit your lineups through week 17 so you can have a chance at the overall points scored for the year prize. Waivers will still be on Wednesday from seeds 7 down to 1 and the free agent process will run the same from Thursday to Sunday on a first-come first-serve basis. No FAAB in playoffs. If you lose in the playoffs then you will no longer be allowed to pick up free agents. In week 17, the Championship games teams will pick 1st according to their seeds and then the Consolation teams will pick according to their seeds.
10b) The Toilet Bowl playoff will consist of the 7 teams that did not make the playoffs seeded 8-14. The seed order will be determined according to your record. The top non-playoff record will be the eight seed and so on down the ladder. The worst record will be the 14 seed. In week 15, seed 8 will have a bye, while 9-14 will play each other as will 10-13 and 11-12. In week 16, seed 8 will play the LOWEST SEED REMAINING and the remaining two teams will play each other. In week 17, the two winners from week 16 will play for the Toilet Bowl Championship. Keep in mind that the highest seed in each game throughout the playoffs is the home team. Also losing teams after week 15, make sure that you still submit your lineups through week 17 so you can have a chance at the overall points scored for the year prize. You will not be allowed to pick up free agents for weeks 15-17.
10c) The home team in each game of the playoffs is going to get home field advantage points according to what week of the playoffs it is, therefore, they will be ahead before the game starts. Here is the breakdown:
Week 15:
1(BYE) = 5 points
2 vs. 7 = 4 points
3 vs. 6 = 3 points
4 vs. 5 = 2 points
8(BYE) = 5 points
9 (BYE) = 4 points
10 vs. 13 = 3 points
11 vs. 12 = 2 point
Week 16:
1 vs.? = 4 points
Other game = 3 points
8 vs.? = 4 points
9 vs.? = 3 point
Week 17:
No Home Field Advantage
11) In the event of a tie during the playoffs, each playoff team will submit to me along with their lineup a tiebreaker player. This player must be a player that you are not using in that week’s game and can be from any position on your team. If by chance the two teams are tied after this tiebreaker player then the home team will advance. Please post your tiebreaker player on the league message board.
Good luck. If you have any questions or suggestions call me.
