Cowboys G Tyler Smith inactive vs. Commanders

Sun Nov 24 12:32pm ET
Field Level Media

The Dallas Cowboys will be without both of their starting guards on Sunday after declaring Tyler Smith inactive versus the host Washington Commanders.

Smith, the Cowboys' left guard, was questionable to play against the Commanders despite missing two practices this week with ankle and knee injuries before returning for a limited session on Friday.

Right guard Zack Martin has been dealing with ankle and shoulder injuries and didn't practice at all this week before initially being listed as doubtful to play on Friday. The seven-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowl selection officially was downgraded to out on Saturday.

T.J. Bass and Brock Hoffman likely will start at guard for Dallas (3-7), which also will be without cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and Caelen Carson, running back Deuce Vaughn, tight end Jake Ferguson and defensive end Tyrus Wheat.

As for the Commanders (7-4), cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore and Emmanuel Forbes, quarterback Jeff Driskel, linebacker Dominique Hampton and guard Chris Paul have been ruled inactive.

Player Notes
Ja'Tavion Sanders Nov 24 1:50pm CT
Ja'Tavion Sanders

Carolina Panthers tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (head/neck) was trying to make the extra effort to get a first down and was hit into a somersault before landing on top of his head. Unfortunately, the rookie had to be put on a backboard and carted off the field after that play in the second quarter. He's unlikely to return even though there hasn't been an official report from the team yet. He'll probably undergo further testing on Sunday night and Monday to determine the severity of the issue. Tommy Tremble will take over at tight end in the meantime.

Tyrel Dodson

Miami Dolphins linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. (hamstring) suffered a non-contact hamstring injury on Sunday but was able to walk under his own power to the locker room. He's now considered questionable to return. In 10 games, Walker has accrued 46 total tackles, 21 solo, and one interception. The next man up is Tyrel Dodson, the former Seattle Seahawk and Buffalo Bill.

Patrick Johnson Nov 24 1:00pm CT
Patrick Johnson

New York Giants linebacker Azeez Ojulari (toe) is questionable to return to Sunday's meeting with the Buccaneers. As if things in New York can't get any worse, the team could be without the 24-year-old for the rest of Week 12 because of a toe injury. Ojulari ranks second on the team in sacks this season (six), so the G-Men are hoping he'll get back on the field. If he doesn't return, Patrick Johnson would be in line for more snaps.

Brian Robinson Jr.

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. (ankle) returned to Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Fantasy managers were anxious when he injured his ankle very early in the contest. However, there was a collective sigh of relief when he was observed walking back to the locker room. But Robinson is back, meaning Austin Ekeler likely won't be as busy.

Daniel Jones Nov 24 12:30pm CT
Daniel Jones

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Raiders could be in the market to sign quarterback Daniel Jones. The signal-caller, who was recently released by the New York Giants, is expected to clear waivers and hit free agency. The Ravens, Vikings, and 49ers have been a few teams rumored to be interested in his services, although he'd presumably be a backup. But with the Raiders quarterback struggles this season, Jones could find his way under center, even if it's only for a few games. He would also add value moving ahead if the team adds a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. Still, that's assuming Jones signs. Either way, there may be a lot of updates in this scenario in the next few days. For now, he isn't worth a spot on fantasy rosters.

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's NFC East meeting with the Cowboys. He had only one carry for negative yardage, which is what he will finish with if he can't get back on the field in Week 12. Considering Robinson has been banged up a few times this season, the team may opt to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the contest. If that turns out to be the case, Austin Ekeler would be in line for more work.

Eddy Pineiro Nov 24 11:20am CT
Eddy Pineiro

Carolina Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro (knee) is active on Sunday for the Week 12 contest against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs. Pineiro apparently injured his left knee while celebrating after making the game-winning kick in Germany in the overtime victory over the New York Giants, but he had last week's bye to rest up and is good to go this weekend. The 29-year-old should be avoided for fantasy purposes, though, in Carolina's inconsistent offense as they take on an underrated Chiefs defense. Pineiro has only attempted 13 field goals (successful on 12) on the year and has made all 17 of his extra-point opportunities. The Chiefs defense has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to the kicking position this year, and Pineiro just hasn't had enough volume in the kicking game to warrant fantasy attention.

Jalen Coker Nov 24 11:20am CT
Jalen Coker

Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Jalen Coker (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12 after he missed practice on Friday with a quad injury. The good news for the Panthers is that they'll be getting veteran receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) back for the first time since Week 3. The 23-year-old Coker has seen his role grow in Carolina's offense since the team traded Diontae Johnson to the Baltimore Ravens, but the volume still hasn't been enough to make him a realistic flex option in 12-team fantasy leagues. He did play 90 percent of the offensive snaps in the Week 10 win over the New York Giants in Germany and received a season-high eight targets, but it led to only three catches for 41 yards. With Coker out on Sunday against KC, expect David Moore to serve as Carolina's No. 3 behind Thielen and rookie Xavier Legette.

Adam Thielen Nov 24 11:10am CT
Adam Thielen

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) is officially active for Sunday's contest against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. It's the first time that Thielen has been active since injuring his hamstring in Week 3. The 34-year-old veteran had the benefit of a bye in Week 11 and will now return to the field as the Panthers look to give the Chiefs their second straight loss. With Diontae Johnson now in Baltimore, Thielen could be Carolina's most targeted pass-catcher the rest of the way across from rookie Xavier Legette. Thielen was limited in practice all week, though, so there has to be at least a little concern that he won't play his normal number of snaps given his long layoff. Fantasy managers should treat Thielen as a shaky WR4/flex in his return against a stingy Chiefs defense.

Jonathon Brooks Nov 24 11:10am CT
Jonathon Brooks

Carolina Panthers rookie running back Jonathon Brooks (knee) is officially active on Sunday to make his NFL debut against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. The second-round pick out of Texas is finally fully recovered from a torn ACL he suffered last year in college and will now serve as the No. 2 behind starter Chuba Hubbard. While the 21-year-old won't be on a snap count in his first game in the NFL, he should be the clear backup on Sunday and moving forward, making him hard to trust for starting purposes in fantasy. The good news is his role should grow on a weekly basis, and Miles Sanders (ankle) is now on Injured Reserve, which means he'll miss at least the next four games. By season's end, it's possible Brooks could be on the RB3/flex radar in the right matchup.

Mike Evans Nov 24 11:00am CT
Mike Evans

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) is officially active in Week 12 to take on the New York Giants on Sunday. Evans suffered a moderate right-hamstring strain in the Week 7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and will be making his first start since then. He probably could have suited up in the Week 10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but the Bucs opted to play it safe and give Evans and another full week to rest during last week's bye. Head coach Todd Bowles hinted that the team could pull the future Hall of Famer from Sunday's game if he isn't feeling quite right, but now that we know Evans is officially, active, he needs to be returned to all starting fantasy lineups as the WR1 in Tampa with Chris Godwin (ankle) out for the year. Evans is averaging 11.8 half-PPR fantasy points per game (21st among receivers). Start him.

Deuce Vaughn Nov 24 11:00am CT
Deuce Vaughn

Dallas Cowboys running back Deuce Vaughn is a healthy inactive for the Week 12 game against the division-rival Washington Commanders on Sunday in D.C. Vaughn will be on the sidelines for this one after playing just 16 of the team's 83 offensive snaps in the Monday night loss to the Houston Texans in Week 11. The 23-year-old has been a distant third on the RB depth chart in his second NFL season in Dallas behind Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott in a struggling rushing attack. Vaughn has had only 11 carries on the season for 33 rushing yards while catching three passes for 18 yards. He should remain on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues for the rest of the season in a Dallas offense that will likely remain well below average the rest of the way with quarterback Dak Prescott (hamstring) out for the season.

Keenan Allen Nov 24 10:50am CT
Keenan Allen

Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen (ankle) is officially active for the Week 12 contest against the division-rival Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Allen was listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report after rolling his ankle, but the injury wasn't serious enough to keep the 32-year-old veteran out this weekend. He'll be facing a Vikings secondary that has been shredded to the tune of 234.8 passing yards per game, so rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and Chicago's passing attack could thrive in a game in which they could have to throw often. However, Allen has been pretty inconsistent for fantasy managers in 2024 in his first year with the Bears, averaging just 6.9 half-PPR points per game, which ranks 73rd among all receivers. Allen will have more upside this weekend given the matchup, but he's still more of just a WR4/flex in fantasy lineups.

Keenan Allen

Chicago Bears WR Keenan Allen (ankle) is officially active for the Week 12 game.

Fantasy Spin: Allen has received a good amount of targets this season but has not had a lot of success in terms of receiving yards. He could be a possible flex option in most leagues but is not a must-start option like in previous seasons.

Malik Nabers Nov 24 10:40am CT
Malik Nabers

New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers (groin) is playing in Week 12 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, according to a source. Nabers missed practice on Friday due to a groin injury and was listed as questionable, but he said in the locker room following practice that day that he expected to play, and he will indeed be active. Fantasy manager should keep him locked into their starting lineups this weekend as the team's top wideout. However, expectations may need to be tempered in his first start with quarterback Tommy Devito taking over for Daniel Jones, who was waived on Friday. The matchup against Tampa is a nice one, as the Bucs defense has allowed the fifth-most half-PPR points to opposing receivers through 11 weeks in 2024. Nabers needs to be locked in as a WR1 in fantasy this weekend as the Giants look to turn their season around.

Alec Ingold Nov 24 10:40am CT
Alec Ingold

Miami Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold (calf) and left tackle Terron Armstead (knee) are officially active for Week 12 against the New England Patriots. Ingold had been listed as questionable after logging three limited practices in a row. He was healthy for Miami's first eight games before missing each of their last two contests. His return to the lineup gives the Dolphins an extra backfield blocker, as well as a big-bodied playmaker who can run the ball and catch passes. Armstead had also been listed as questionable, but his status was far more iffy given that he didn't practice at all this week. In the end, though, he's going to play against the Patriots, serving as a reliable protector for Tua Tagovailoa and the offensive backfield.

Kyle Dugger Nov 24 10:40am CT
Kyle Dugger

New England Patriots safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) and cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hip) are active for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins. Both players had been listed as questionable after logging a limited practice session on Friday. Dugger has appeared in seven games this season, amassing 36 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. Meanwhile, Gonzalez has not yet missed a game this season, totaling 46 tackles and one interception while playing lockdown defense against some of the NFL's top receivers. Having both players available is key for the Patriots if they have any chance of upsetting Miami on Sunday.

D'Andre Swift Nov 24 10:40am CT
D'Andre Swift

As expected, Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift (groin) is active for Sunday's divisional contest versus the visiting Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. Swift was held out of the first practice of the week on Wednesday before being limited on Thursday and full on Friday. The 25-year-old will be active for fantasy managers this weekend, but he could cede a bit more work to backup Roschon Johnson, especially after Johnson played 44 percent of the offensive snaps in last week's loss to the division-rival Green Bay Packers. Regardless, Swift is still in play as a low-end RB2/high-end RB3/flex in fantasy on Sunday. He is averaging nearly 20 touches per game in 2024 as Chicago's lead back. The matchup against Minnesota's strong defensive line, on the other hand, isn't ideal. They've allowed the second-fewest half-PPR fantasy points per game this year to RBs.
