Patriots QB Drake Maye (head) questionable to return

Sun Oct 27 2:23pm ET
Field Level Media

New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye was taken back to the locker room during the second quarter of a meeting with the visiting New York Jets on Sunday to be evaluated for a head injury.

Maye, who is questionable to return, sustained the apparent injury on an 18-yard scramble in the final minute of the first quarter. Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood made helmet-to-helmet contact with Maye on a hit from behind as the quarterback slid.

Maye finished the drive, but Jacoby Brissett took over under center for New England on its next possession.

Prior to exiting, Maye completed 3 of 6 passes for 23 yards. He also rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown on three carries.

The 22-year-old Maye, selected third overall by the Patriots in this year's draft, was making his third career start on Sunday.

Player Notes
Stefon Diggs Oct 27 3:30pm CT
Stefon Diggs

Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs (knee) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts after suffering a serious-looking, non-contact injury. Although Diggs was able to walk off the field, he was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the contest. He finished Week 8 with five catches for 81 yards. With both Diggs and Nico Collins (hamstring) sidelined, the Texans could enter next week's game against the New York Jets with a receiving corps headlined by Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, John Metchie, and Robert Woods. Fantasy managers will want to stay tuned for updates on Diggs' status and exactly how much time he'll miss.

Brian Thomas Jr. Oct 27 3:10pm CT
Brian Thomas Jr.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (chest) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers and is officially questionable to return. At the time of his departure, he had caught three of four targets for 60 yards and a touchdown. Thomas has been a major contributor in his rookie season, so his loss is bad news for the Jaguars' offense. With both Thomas and Gabe Davis (shoulder) injured, look for Christian Kirk, Parker Washington, and Tim Jones to step up as Jacksonville's top wide receivers.

Isaiah Rodgers Oct 27 3:00pm CT
Isaiah Rodgers

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay (groin) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Slay, who departed during the third quarter, finished Week 8 with four tackles and one pass defended. In his absence, Isaiah Rodgers should earn more snaps opposite Quinyon Mitchell.

Jordan Love Oct 27 2:30pm CT
Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (groin) exited during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and is officially questionable to return. Love appeared to suffer the injury after attempting a pass. He was unable to shake off the injury and went to the ground, summoning attention from medical personnel. At the time of his departure, Love had completed 14 of 22 passes for 196 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Malik Willis has taken over as the Packers' quarterback and will remain under center for the duration of Love's absence. Willis impressed during a two-game, turnover-free stretch of football between Weeks 2 and 3.

Tommy Tremble Oct 27 2:20pm CT
Tommy Tremble

Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble (back) is officially active for Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after logging a full practice on Friday. The 24-year-old has been active for four games this season, totaling just seven catches and 59 yards. Despite being healthy this week, Tremble is expected to operate as the Panthers' backup tight end behind up-and-coming rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders.

Jonathon Brooks Oct 27 2:20pm CT
Jonathon Brooks

The Carolina Panthers will not have quarterback Andy Dalton (thumb) or running back Jonathon Brooks (knee) for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Dalton is inactive after injuring his right thumb during a minor car accident earlier this week. His absence re-inserts Bryce Young into the Panthers starting lineup for Week 8. Meanwhile, Brooks is still on the non-football injury list after Carolina failed to activate him on Saturday. The rookie still has not made his NFL debut. The Panthers must activate him by November 6; if they don't, Brooks won't be able to play this season. Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders will handle most of Carolina's rushing opportunities until Brooks is healthy enough to play.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Oct 27 2:20pm CT
Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (coach's decision) is inactive for Week 8 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He was activated from the non-football injury list earlier this month but has not played since then. Sunday represents the second consecutive absence for Edwards-Helaire, who is evidently behind Kareem Hunt, Samaje Perine, and Carson Steele on the depth chart. The former LSU product can be left on waivers in most fantasy leagues.

Khalil Herbert Oct 27 2:20pm CT
Khalil Herbert

Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert (coach's decision) is a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders. The 26-year-old has seen his role essentially disappear this season. He hasn't registered a touch since Week 3, logging only a few snaps during that span. Now, with Travis Homer active, Herbert is the odd man out. Despite his decreasing role, Herbert could be an intriguing name on the trade market as other teams look to solidify their running back down the stretch. Even if traded, though, Herbert won't be a reliable fantasy option.

Jayden Daniels Oct 27 2:10pm CT
Jayden Daniels

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (ribs) will officially play and start against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The rookie phenom was questionable heading into the day, and it looks like he's feeling good enough to start against a solid Bears defense. This also means we'll get to see the first and second-overall picks go head-to-head. Daniels still has QB1 value and should be a quality start for fantasy managers that were waiting on his status.

Harrison Bryant Oct 27 2:10pm CT
Harrison Bryant

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Harrison Bryant (elbow) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the wrong direction after missing three consecutive practices. Bryant hasn't been on the fantasy radar this year, but he has been playing well with five catches and 43 yards over the last two weeks. John Samuel Shenker, who is still searching for his first career target, will back up Brock Bowers in Week 8.

Jakobi Meyers Oct 27 2:10pm CT
Jakobi Meyers

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (abdomen) is officially active for Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after logging a full practice on Friday. This will be Meyers' first game of the season without Davante Adams on the roster, but he did play two games when Adams was inactive earlier this year. In those two games, Meyers caught 11 passes for 121 yards and zero touchdowns. He should see significant volume as the Raiders' No. 1 receiver this week, but he's nothing more than a low-end WR3/FLEX versus a strong Chiefs defense.

D.K. Metcalf Oct 27 1:50pm CT
D.K. Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (knee) was originally listed as doubtful heading into the Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. He has now been deemed inactive which will move Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett into the top two receiver spots. Jake Bobo will also likely see some snaps and targets while the Seahawks may be playing from behind against a solid Bills offense. Metcalf's status will be something to monitor next week as they have one more game right before their bye.

Drake Maye Oct 27 1:40pm CT
Drake Maye

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (head) left Sunday's game against the New York Jets with a head injury in the first half. He was originally ruled questionable to return, but has since been downgraded and will not come back in this contest. He leaves after throwing 3-for-6 for 23 yards and taking three carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. Jacoby Brissett will take over for the rest of the game which means the fantasy ceiling for the passing game will likely take a hit.

Sterling Shepard Oct 27 1:40pm CT
Sterling Shepard

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Sterling Shepard (hamstring) has now been listed as questionable to return to Sunday's contest as he deals with a hamstring injury that he picked up in the second quarter. The Buccaneers are already dealing with a thin receiver corps, so they'll now have to rely on fewer pass-catchers. Cade Otton will be even more important while Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer will be the top two receivers unless Shepard returns.

From RotoBaller

Gabriel Davis Oct 27 1:20pm CT
Gabriel Davis

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis (shoulder) has been deemed questionable to return Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The veteran pass-catcher left in the second quarter with a shoulder issue and hasn't received the green light to go back into the game. Christian Kirk and Brian Thomas Jr. should see more opportunities while both of them have broken off some longer plays in this matchup already.

Drake Maye Oct 27 1:10pm CT
Drake Maye

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (head) exited during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the New York Jets and is officially questionable to return. The No. 3 overall pick looked solid before departing in Week 8 as he racked up 23 passing yards, 46 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown. He also took one sack. Maye suffered the injury while taking a head-to-head hit from a Jets defender at the end of a run. Jacoby Brissett has entered the game and will remain the Patriots' quarterback until Maye is cleared to return.

Jayden Daniels Oct 27 12:30pm CT
Jayden Daniels

Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels (ribs) is expected to start barring a late setback according to Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports. Wolfson reported that head coach Dan Quinn feels "really good where Jayden is at" and should be in line to start barring a pregame setback. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to kickoff in case he faces a setback. If the rookie standout is able to play he should be locked into all lineups as a high-end QB1. If not, Marcus Mariota should be viewed as a solid QB2 in Superflex formats.

Devonte Wyatt Oct 27 11:20am CT
Devonte Wyatt

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (ankle) will play in Week 8 according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Wyatt has been sidelined since Week 5 with an ankle injury but was able to log three limited practice sessions this week. Fantasy managers should expect Wyatt to return to his starting role on the defensive line going forward. During the first four games he tallied ten tackles (eight solo) with three sacks. The 26-year-old should bolster the Green Bay pass rush going forward.

A.J. Terrell Oct 27 11:10am CT
A.J. Terrell

Atlanta Falcons defensive back Antonio Hamilton (back) will not suit up in Week 8 when the Falcons face their division rival, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hamilton logged three limited practice sessions during the week but is unable to suit up on Sunday afternoon. Hamilton has been deployed in a depth role this season and has only tallied four total tackles. As a result, fantasy managers should expect A.J. Terrell and Mike Hughes to operate as the starting defensive backs this afternoon.

From RotoBaller

Greg Gaines Oct 27 11:10am CT
Greg Gaines

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Greg Gaines (calf) and safety Tykee Smith (concussion) are listed as inactive for Sunday's tilt against the Atlanta Falcons. Gaines logged a limited practice on Thursday but was downgraded to a non-participant on Friday with a calf injury. Smith entered concussion protocol in Week 7 and has been unable to pass the necessary steps during the week. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Vita Vea, Calijah Kancey, and C.J. Brewer to see most of the snaps on the defensive line and Jordan Whitehead and Christian Izien should see most of the work at safety.
