Bucs fear torn pec for S Jordan Whitehead

Mon Nov 25 11:29am ET
Field Level Media

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fear starting safety Jordan Whitehead tore a pectoral muscle Sunday and will miss the rest of the season, NFL Network reported Monday.

The team is awaiting MRI results to confirm the injury, which occurred during the fourth quarter of the Bucs' 30-7 road win against the New York Giants.

Whitehead, 27, has started all 11 games since rejoining the Bucs this season, notching 76 tackles and three passes defensed.

He has 554 tackles and 11 interceptions in 104 games (100 starts) with Tampa Bay (2018-21, 2024) and the New York Jets (2022-23). The Buccaneers drafted him in the fourth round in 2018.

A potential replacement is already on the roster after the Bucs claimed veteran safety Mike Edwards off waivers from the Buffalo Bills last week.

The Buccaneers (5-6) are only a game behind the NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons heading into a Week 13 road game against the Carolina Panthers (3-8).

Bender's Starts/Sits: Week 12

Player Notes
Roschon Johnson Nov 25 10:20am CT
Roschon Johnson

On Sunday, Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson made an impact in the team's Week 12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. While his offensive snaps were limited, Johnson made the most of his opportunities, rushing twice for 2 yards and a touchdown. As the Bears' primary short-yardage and goal-line back, Johnson converted a crucial touch near the end zone into a score. He also caught one pass for 10 yards, adding a small but solid contribution to the passing game. Johnson's fantasy value remains largely touchdown-dependent, especially as long as D'Andre Swift remains healthy and continues to dominate the backfield. If Johnson can maintain his role in the red zone, he'll continue to be a viable fantasy optionalbeit with a boom-or-bust profile. With a quick turnaround, the Bears will face the NFC-leading Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Thursday.

D'Andre Swift Nov 25 10:20am CT
D'Andre Swift

On Sunday, Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift had a challenging outing in the team's Week 12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Swift rushed 13 times for just 30 yards, marking his worst performance in recent memory, though it came against a tough Vikings defense. While the running game was largely ineffective, Swift made his presence felt in the passing game, hauling in three catches for 35 yards. Despite being bottled up on the ground, Swift sparked the offense with a key reception that helped set up a touchdown drive. However, in disappointing news for Swift fantasy managers, the touchdown run went to his backup, Roschon Johnson, who has become the Bears' go-to option in goal-line and short-yardage situations. With a quick turnaround, Swift and the Bears will look to rebound against the NFC-leading Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Thursday.

Caleb Williams Nov 25 10:10am CT
Caleb Williams

This Sunday, Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams faced a tough test against the Minnesota Vikings in their Week 12 OT loss. Despite the challenging matchup, Williams showcased his potential in a standout performance. He completed 32 of 47 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns, demonstrating impressive accuracy and poise under pressure. Williams also added 33 rushing yards, leading the Bears' ground game. One of his most memorable plays came when he rolled out and delivered a perfect sideline pass to D'Andre Swift, a throw that only a handful of quarterbacks can make. Williams displayed excellent field awareness and was able to distribute the ball effectively to all his playmakers. With the Bears now shifting their focus to the NFC-leading Detroit Lions, they'll have a quick turnaround, facing off on Thanksgiving Thursday in a critical divisional matchup.

Jameis Winston Nov 25 9:50am CT
Jameis Winston

The Denver Broncos defense/special teams unit came into a tasty Week 12 matchup against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders as an elite option. While they didn't go off in the 29-19 win, they gave a strong performance by recording an interception, a fumble recovery and five sacks to sweep their division rivals on the season. Cornerback Brandon Jones' interception of quarterback Gardner Minshew II in the second half nearly went for six points, and the team's other turnover came on a sack and fumble from backup Desmond Ridder after a season-ending broken collarbone for Minshew. Denver's D added 10 QB hits, and they ranks second in the NFL in QB pressures on the year. They did it without standout edge rusher Zach Allen, who was inactive with a heel injury. In Week 13 against turnover-prone Browns QB Jameis Winston, the Broncos D/ST will again be a must-start in fantasy.

James Conner Nov 25 9:50am CT
James Conner

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner was productive through the air but couldn't get anything going on the ground in the 16-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Conner was limited to just eight yards on seven carries, as the Cardinals were repeatedly beaten at the point of attack. However, Conner still found a way to contribute, hauling in all five of his targets for 41 yards. He was expected to play a larger role given the circumstances of a tough divisional game on the road, but the ineffectiveness of the Cardinals' run game forced them to shift to a pass-first attack as they fell behind on the scoreboard. Conner is due for a bounce-back performance when the Cardinals travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings.

Javonte Williams Nov 25 9:40am CT
Javonte Williams

Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams had a disaster of a performance in the 29-19 win over the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 on Sunday a week after taking over lead-back duties in Denver's backfield. Williams had a team-high eight carries but produced minus-two yards while catching two of four targets for just six yards. In a great matchup against a banged-up and floundering Raiders defense, the 24-year-old fell flat and has quickly become an avoidable RB3/flex in a Broncos backfield that appears to be playing musical chairs in a three-man committee that also involves Jaleel McLaughlin, who had a team-high 44 rushing yards, and rookie Audric Estime. He has now had single-digit carries in each of the last three games and figures to continue to share the load with McLaughlin and Estime in Week 13 versus the Cleveland Browns.

Wil Lutz Nov 25 9:40am CT
Wil Lutz

We recommended starting Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz in all fantasy formats in a good Week 12 matchup against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders, and he did not disappoint. Lutz made a season-high five field goals -- with two from 50-plus yards out and a long of 54 -- while also connecting on both of his extra-point opportunities. Denver's offense didn't have much trouble moving the ball up and down the field against a banged-up Raiders offense on their way to 29 points on the day, and Lutz took full advantage. With the strong performance, Lutz came out of Sunday's action as the top fantasy kicker for Week 12. With Denver's offense peaking under improving quarterback Bo Nix, Lutz has become a weekly top-12 consideration at the position in fantasy. He now ranks fourth among all kickers in 2024 in total fantasy points.

Marvin Mims Nov 25 9:30am CT
Marvin Mims

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. saw some work both on the ground and through the air in the team's 29-19 victory on Sunday. He ended the game with two carries for negative two yards and five targets which he turned into three receptions for 44 yards. Mims' speed and big play ability have made him a viable flex option in deeper leagues given the matchup, but he hasn't shown the consistency just yet. The Broncos take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 13.

Lamar Jackson Nov 25 9:20am CT
Lamar Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles defense held the Los Angeles Rams to 20 points, racked up five sacks, and recovered a fumble during the team's 37-20 win on Sunday night. This was the seventh game in a row where the team has held the opposing offense to 20 points or fewer scored and less than 300 yards gained in total. Since the bye, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has made this unit into one of the best in football and it has led to solid success for fantasy purposes. It will be tough to suggest streaming the Eagles next week against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, but they are a great stash with the Panthers, Steelers, and Cowboys on the schedule in three of the four weeks after.

Tyler Boyd Nov 25 9:00am CT
Tyler Boyd

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Tyler Boyd enjoyed his best game as a Titan in the 32-27 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. The former Cincinnati Bengal finished the game with six receptions for 55 yards on six targets and even had a pass attempt but couldn't complete it. Tennessee's passing game, led by Will Levis and Mason Rudolph has been inconsistent, to say the least. Even though DeAndre Hopkins left, Boyd hasn't seen much of an uptick in production just yet. He'll try to find the end zone for the first time against the Washington Commanders in Week 13.

From RotoBaller

Jaylen Wright Nov 25 8:50am CT
Jaylen Wright

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright saw a bit more work during the team's 34-15 win over the New England Patriots. The rookie back received seven carries and turned them into 28 yards. He also had one target but wasn't able to haul it in. One silver lining is that Wright finished ahead of Raheem Mostert in terms of touches, but his upside is still very limited when all three backs are healthy. He'll look to find some more success in a short week as they play the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving.

Jake Elliott Nov 25 8:40am CT
Jake Elliott

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott hit three field goals from 21, 26, and 31 yards away and converted all four extra point attempts during the team's 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams. After his worst performance of the season in Week 11, the veteran kicker was perfect in LA Sunday night and had a solid fantasy performance. Predicting Elliott's big games has been tough this season, but the Eagles offense has been more conservative as of late and has decided to take points when they can rather than go for it on fourth down. Elliott remains boom-or-bust but will be a streamer in any game the Eagles play poor defenses.

Mike Edwards Nov 25 8:30am CT
Mike Edwards

Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Jordan White (pectoral) may have suffered a torn pec according to Ian Rapoport. The seventh-year defensive back will undergo an MRI to confirm if it is torn, and his season will be over if that is the case. He's started in all 11 games this season and racked up 76 total tackles (47 solo), two tackles for loss, one QB hit, and three passes defended. The Bucs signed Mike Edwards last week, so he'll likely move into the starting spot.

A.J. Brown Nov 25 8:30am CT
A.J. Brown

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown caught six of seven targets for 109 yards and a touchdown during the team's 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The 27-year-old hit paydirt for the first time since Week 7 and snapped his fantasy cold streak of four weeks with a great performance in a game where the Eagles dominated. Saquon Barkley was the top headline maker in this game, but Brown deserves a ton of credit for how his presence is enough to throw off a defense and make stopping both him and Barkley near impossible. DeVonta Smith (hamstring) did miss this game and may miss next week as well, leaving Brown with a juicy matchup against the Ravens.

From RotoBaller

Jonathon Brooks Nov 25 8:30am CT
Jonathon Brooks

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks debuted in his first game but wasn't very involved in the 30-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The rookie saw eight percent of the offensive snaps and registered two carries for seven yards with no work in the passing game. Due to a big first-half deficit, the Panthers were forced to abandon the run and the backfield as a whole only produced 85 total yards. Brooks will likely see some added snaps moving forward, but fantasy managers will want to be cautious with the split between him and Chuba Hubbard.

Dallas Goedert Nov 25 8:30am CT
Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert caught four of five targets for 19 yards during the team's 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. Many were hopeful that the 29-year-old would do more with DeVonta Smith (hamstring) ruled out, but this game was dominated by Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and no one else. The target share was good enough to keep firing him up in good matchups, but because of the star power Philadelphia has, Goedert will remain boom-or-bust heading into Week 13's showdown with the Baltimore Ravens.

From RotoBaller

Saquon Barkley Nov 25 8:20am CT
Saquon Barkley

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley took 26 carries for 255 yards and two touchdowns, adding four receptions on as many targets for 47 yards during the team's 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams. This was the most rushing yards in a single game in Eagles history and the ninth-most all-time in the NFL. The 27-year-old ripped off multiple 70-plus yard touchdowns and tallied more yards on his own than the entirety of the Rams offense on Sunday night. Over the past two weeks, Barkley has 401 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The MVP award needs to be in the conversation when talking about the veteran back, and he will face off against the league's other top-tier running back next week when the Eagles travel to Baltimore to take on Derrick Henry and the Ravens.

Kyler Murray Nov 25 8:20am CT
Kyler Murray

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray failed to find the end zone through the air or on the ground in a 16-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals' offense lacked consistency all day and couldn't convert enough third downs to score any touchdowns. Although the offense moved the ball more effectively in the second half, Murray ended up with 285 yards passing, but a backbreaking interception returned for a touchdown limited the Cardinals' chances of taking the lead. The Cardinals will travel to Minnesota next week to face the stout Vikings defense, which could lower expectations for Murray, though he should still be started in most league formats.

From RotoBaller

Trey McBride Nov 25 8:20am CT
Trey McBride

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride had a monster day in the 16-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. McBride caught 12 passes for 133 yards and was perhaps the Cardinals' only bright spot on offense. He received a team-leading 15 targets, and the team's point of emphasis was to get him the ball as all other aspects of the game fell apart. McBride has been one of the most consistent performers in fantasy football this season, and with that target share, he will likely continue to put up huge numbers. McBride will remain in starting lineups heading into the Cardinals' Week 13 road matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Kenneth Gainwell Nov 25 8:20am CT
Kenneth Gainwell

Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell took five carries for 22 yards and a score in the team's 30-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams In Week 12. While starter Saquon Barkley had a historic night, the 25-year-old backup found success when spelling the superstar back and capped off his night with a 13-yard run to the end zone. Barkley was the first to run out and celebrate with him. Gainwell has no real weekly value at the moment, but it is evident that he is the clear-cut backup to Barkley and should be considered the handcuff in all fantasy formats.
