Eagles QB Jalen Hurts in concussion protocol after injury against Commanders

Sun Dec 22 1:56pm ET
Field Level Media

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left the game against the Washington Commanders in the first quarter and was being evaluated for a concussion.

Hurts was injured by a tackle from Washington's Frankie Luvu and Bobby Wagner at the end of an 11-yard run to the Washington 21. He later briefly appeared about to return but is now in the locker room.

Back-up Kenny Pickett came on and completed the drive with a four-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown.

The Eagles, 12-2, are in pursuit of the top seed in the NFC, alongside the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, who are likewise 12-2.

Bender's Starts/Sits: Week 16

Player Notes
Bijan Robinson Dec 22 5:00pm CT
Bijan Robinson

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson tallied 94 yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts during their victory over the New York Giants. He brought in both of his targets for nine yards. Both of Robinson's scores came from within the five yard line. With the Falcons having a substantial lead throughout the afternoon, Tyler Allgeier did most of the work in the final quarter. However, Robinson continued to showcase his elite efficiency averaging a solid 4.3 yards per carry. Entering Week 16, Robinson had averaged 4.6 yards per attempt over his past three contests. The former first-round selection has now eclipsed 90+ rushing yards in each of his past four contests and has found the back of the end zone four times over this span. Fantasy managers should continue to view Robinson as an elite RB1 heading into a Week 17 tilt against the Washington Commanders who just surrendered 150 rushing yards to Saquon Barkley.

George Pickens Dec 22 5:00pm CT
George Pickens

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens (hamstring) was limited in Sunday's practice estimation. The wideout has missed the last three games because of a hamstring injury, so the update isn't surprising. However, it was reported earlier on Sunday that Pickens has a "real chance" to return on Christmas versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Of course, fantasy managers should continue to plan accordingly. But if Pickens isn't out there on Wednesday, Calvin Austin III and Van Jefferson should continue to see more attention from Russell Wilson.

Jahmyr Gibbs Dec 22 5:00pm CT
Jahmyr Gibbs

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had a productive game in the team's win at the Chicago Bears in Week 16. The talented running back rushed 23 times for 109 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown and added four catches for 45 receiving yards. Gibbs lived up to high expectations after holding onto the lead-back role in this matchup with fellow Lions running back David Montgomery (knee) missing this game. Gibbs has been very effective with Montgomery out of the lineup and he looks like one of the top fantasy running backs for championship week next week. The 23 carries are a very positive sign for his future outlook as those were a season-high. If he gets that many looks (23 carries and five targets), he is going to be very hard for opposing defenses to contain.

Drew Lock Dec 22 4:50pm CT
Drew Lock

New York Giants quarterback Drew Lock struggled in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, completing 22 of 39 passes for 210 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Making his third start since the release of Daniel Jones and returning from a Week 15 heel injury, Lock averaged a disappointing 5.4 yards per attempt and was sacked three times, managing just 8.5 fantasy points. His lone bright spot was a 15-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter (to RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.), but he failed to build any momentum as the Giants' offense stalled repeatedly. With the Giants now 2-13 and in pole position for the No. 1 overall draft pick, it seems increasingly likely they'll target a quarterback in the draft.

Jared Goff Dec 22 4:50pm CT
Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a nice fantasy performance against the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 336 yards and three touchdown passes. Goff found Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Sam LaPorta for his touchdown passes and was sharp in leading the Lions to a big 34-17 victory in Chicago. Goff took care of the football with no turnovers and came through for fantasy managers who started him in playoff matchups. With plenty of weapons in an explosive offense, the talented signal-caller is becoming one of the most reliable quarterbacks in fantasy.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. Dec 22 4:50pm CT
Tyrone Tracy Jr.

New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. was the lone bright spot in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, finishing with 14.9 fantasy points on a combined 69 yards from scrimmage and a receiving touchdown. Tracy carried the ball seven times for 26 yards (3.7 YPC) and added four catches for 43 yards, including a highlight-reel toe-tap touchdown at the back of the end zone from Drew Lock early in the second quarter. That score gave the Giants an early 7-0 lead, but the game unraveled as Atlanta rattled off 34 unanswered points. While Tracy's rushing efficiency left much to be desired, his involvement in the passing game and red-zone usage were encouraging signs for fantasy managers in an otherwise dismal Giants offense.

Jonathan Taylor Dec 22 4:50pm CT
Jonathan Taylor

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor tallied a season-high 218 rushing yards with three touchdowns on 29 attempts during their victory over the Tennessee Titans. Taylor did not see a target in the passing game. The Wisconsin product led the way as his 29 attempts were a season-high. Taylor did most of his damage on two plays. He tallied a 65-yard TD run in the second quarter and then posted a 70-yard TD carry in the third quarter. Taylor would complete the hat trick later in the third quarter as he punched in a one-yard score. Entering Week 16, Taylor only found the end zone one time over his past six contests. This was on a receiving score as he has not tallied a rushing score since Week 8. Taylor has also tallied at least 100+ rushing yards in consecutive outings. Taylor has a great opportunity to stay hot next weekend facing the New York Giants who have allowed fifth-most PPR points to opposing running backs this season.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson Dec 22 4:40pm CT
Dorian Thompson-Robinson

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (calf) threw for 157 yards and two interceptions off 20-for-34 passing in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. He added nine carries for 49 yards. While DTR got it done as a runner, his ability on the passing end was another story. But it appears Thompson-Robinson will get a chance to make things right, with head coach Kevin Stefanski indicating he will start in Week 17 versus the Dolphins, assuming he's healthy after being bothered by a calf issue during the contest. With that in mind, he isn't the best choice for fantasy lineups, although most fantasy managers have that figured out by this point.

Kenny Pickett Dec 22 4:30pm CT
Kenny Pickett

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett threw for 143 yards, one touchdown, and one interception off 14-for-24 passing in Sunday's loss to the Commanders. He added three carries for 13 yards. Jalen Hurts (concussion) was hurt in the first quarter and didn't return. Although Pickett got off to a strong start after taking over, finding A.J. Brown for a touchdown, he cooled off for the remainder of the contest. Hurts isn't a lock to return in Week 17 versus the Cowboys, so the former Steeler could find himself back under center. However, with most fantasy leagues in the championship round, Pickett would be too risky to start in any fantasy format.

From RotoBaller

Saquon Barkley Dec 22 4:20pm CT
Saquon Barkley

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had 150 yards and two touchdowns off 29 carries in Sunday's narrow loss to the Washington Commanders. Jalen Hurts (concussion) got hurt in the first quarter and didn't return. As a result, Barkley got a season-high 29 touches. Unfortunately, it didn't help, with the Eagles dropping their third game of the 2024-25 campaign. Philadelphia is already going to the playoffs. But if Hurts can't suit up against the Cowboys in Week 17, the former Nittany Lion could be in line for another monster performance.

From RotoBaller

Dyami Brown Dec 22 4:20pm CT
Dyami Brown

Washington Commanders wide receiver Dyami Brown (hamstring) caught four of his five targets for 56 yards during their Week 16 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Brown's five targets and yardage output were the third-most on the team, behind Olamide Zaccheaus and Terry McLaurin. Brown's longest reception of the afternoon went for 51 yards. Brown did sustain a hamstring injury in the second half and did not return after. Fantasy managers should monitor his status throughout the week, as he could be in danger of missing Week 17's tilt against the Atlanta Falcons. With Noah Brown (kidney) on Injured Reserve, Dyami Brown has emerged as a viable option in the Washington passing attack and has seen at least five targets in back-to-back outings.

Zach Ertz Dec 22 4:20pm CT
Zach Ertz

Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz caught just one of his two targets for 12 yards during their victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Ertz suffered a concussion last weekend but was able to turn the corner in time to suit up for this divisional matchup. However, Ertz took the backseat in this game as the Washington wide receivers stole the show. This was only the second time this season where Ertz caught just one pass in a single game and third time seeing only two targets. The veteran tight end will look to bounce back next weekend facing the Atlanta Falcons who have allowed the 15th-fewest PPR points to the position this season.

Jared Goff Dec 22 4:13pm CT
Jared Goff

Dynasty | Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 23-of-32 passes for 336 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a win over Chicago. Dynasty Analysis: After a five-interception disaster in a weird game against Houston last month, Goff has now posted over 2,000 passing yards, with 17 touchdowns and just one interception over his last six games. In short, he's been a roster lock in dynasty leagues and has put on an MVP level performance all season. His dynasty value is going to be intact all off-season as few veterans can offer the consistency of Goff, who now has over 4,000 passing yards with 33 touchdowns and ten interceptions on the season.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

David Montgomery Dec 22 4:13pm CT
David Montgomery

Dynasty | Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had 109 rushing yards and a touchdown in a win against Chicago. Dynasty Analysis: With David Montgomery out this week, Gibbs took on the role of featured back and flourished. He even added four catches and 45 yards on the day. As long as Montgomery is sidelined, Gibbs belongs locked into playoff lineups. This late season surge will also likely stop any kind of value drop he incurred during the year.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Jameson Williams Dec 22 4:13pm CT
Jameson Williams

Dynasty | Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams had five catches for 143 yards and a touchdown in a win against Chicago. Dynasty Analysis: Williams is always going to be a deep ball threat and that was solidified today as he took an 82-yard pass play to the house. A volatile fantasy performer this season, Williams has clearly shown massive upside and massive risk at the same time. His dynasty value will be something to watch all off-season as he looks like a talented player who just needs to mature on and off the field.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Caleb Williams Dec 22 4:13pm CT
Caleb Williams

Dynasty | Bears quarterback Caleb Williams completed 26-of-40 passes for 334 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in a loss to Detroit. Dynasty Analysis: He added 34 rushing yards to lead the team. The stat line looks good, but there were some empty points out there with the Bears getting crushed early. He's done enough this season to look like the quarterback of the future in Chicago, but some changes need to be made around him for him to truly be an elite level fantasy performer. Still, his second half has been a lot better than his first half and he looks like a solid dynasty hold.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Olamide Zaccheaus Dec 22 4:10pm CT
Olamide Zaccheaus

Washington Commanders wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus caught five of his eight targets for 70 yards and two scores during their victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Zaccheaus did most of his damage in the fourth quarter. He caught a four yard TD pass from Jayden Daniels in the opening minutes of the quarter and would then go on to tally an impressive 49-yard TD reception a few minutes after. Zaccheaus' yards and targets paced all other Washington wideouts this afternoon. With Noah Brown (kidney) on the injured reserve, fantasy managers should continue to expect Zaccheaus to have an increased role in the Washington passing attack. He should be in a good position to keep his momentum rolling in Week 17, facing the Atlanta Falcons who have allowed the fifth-most PPR points to opposing wide receivers this season.

From RotoBaller

Braelon Allen Dec 22 4:10pm CT
Braelon Allen

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen carried the ball twice for five yards and caught his lone target for a five-yard gain in a 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16. Allen dealt with a back injury throughout the week but ultimately suited up for the low-scoring loss to the Rams. Whether it was the result of the back injury or the Jets trying to get Isaiah Davis more touches, Allen was barely used in the contest. He has been a high-end handcuff for much of the season but with Davis starting to siphon away some of the backup touches behind Breece Hall, Allen is a cut candidate in fantasy leagues heading into a Week 17 road matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Drake London Dec 22 4:10pm CT
Drake London

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London (hamstring) had five catches for 59 yards in Sunday's decisive win over the Giants. Michael Penix Jr. got the start in this one, so there were concerns about his chemistry with London and the other Falcons' receivers. However, London still had a decent showing. He did suffer a hamstring injury and didn't return. But it appears the wideout avoided a serious injury, with head coach Raheem Morris stating he felt London could have returned to the game. Of course, there was no point, considering Atlanta built a comfortable lead. At any rate, London will likely undergo some tests and potentially miss practice time during the week. But the Falcons are still alive for the postseason, meaning the team will need him out there next Sunday night against the Commanders. If he can't play, Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud III should be in line for more attention on the receiving end.

From RotoBaller

Jamison Crowder Dec 22 4:10pm CT
Jamison Crowder

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jamison Crowder caught both of his two targets for 14 yards and two scores during their victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon. Crowder caught his first TD reception of the afternoon in the opening quarter on a four-yard pass from Jayden Daniels. Crowder would then play the hero as he brought in second reception of the afternoon from nine yards out for the game-winning score with just five seconds remaining. Crowder only appeared in three games prior to Week 16 as he battled a calf injury for a majority of the season. Fantasy managers should monitor his usage going forward as he may become a starting option in a Washington passing attack that lacks proven options outside of Terry McLaurin.
