Texans WR Tank Dell suffers knee injury vs. Chiefs

Sat Dec 21 3:16pm ET
Field Level Media

Texans wide receiver Tank Dell sustained a significant left knee injury during his 30-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

While Dell made a diving catch of a C.J. Stroud pass, Texans receiver Jared Wayne tumbled into Dell as both went to the ground. Dell maintained possession of the ball but was removed from the game by emergency personnel via cart with his leg immobilized in a brace.

Stroud was visibly emotional as Dell departed. Both were selected during the 2023 draft.

Texans safety Jimmie Ward left the game in the first half via cart with a foot injury.

Player Notes
Zay Flowers Dec 21 8:40pm CT
Zay Flowers

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers reeled in 5-of-8 targets for 100 yards in Week 16's 34-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He added three yards on his lone carry. The 24-year-old was quiet for most of the contest but salvaged his day late with a field-flipping 49-yard grab. It was the first time that Flowers had reached the century mark since way back in Week 9, and just the third time in that stretch he's recorded at least five receptions. Despite the boom-bust nature of his game, the second-year wideout is far and away quarterback Lamar Jackson's No. 1 target and a dynamic player when in space with the ball in his hands. The former first-round pick will get a favorable matchup in Week 17 against a Houston Texans defense that's allowed the ninth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers through 15 weeks (36.0).

Derrick Henry Dec 21 8:30pm CT
Derrick Henry

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry handled 24 carries, rushing for 162 yards in his team's 34-17 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The bruising back added another 27 yards through the air, hauling in both of his targets. Henry was a force on Saturday, swatting Steelers defenders to the ground en route to a robust 6.75 yards per carry. The only thing missing from his line was a score -- something he has not done since Week 12. Still, the 30-year-old put together his sixth performance of the season with more than 130 rushing yards, gashing the Steelers' defense for chunk gains whenever he touched the rock. It was a nice bounce-back effort after he put up a dud against the Giants in Week 15. Henry will get another stiff test in Week 17 against a tough Houston Texans team.

Lamar Jackson Dec 21 8:10pm CT
Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson completed 15-of-23 passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 34-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also threw an interception and rushed nine times for 22 yards. The 27-year-old got one over on Pittsburgh in their rematch after scoring just once in the two teams' first meeting, an 18-16 loss. It was Jackson's sixth outing of the year with three or more TD passes. With his total on Sunday, he's up to 37 passing scores on the year -- a career-high -- opposed to just four interceptions -- two of which have come against the Steelers. The MVP candidate will get another tough matchup in championship week when he squares off against the Houston Texans on the road. Still, he'll be a high-end QB1.

Ben Skowronek Dec 21 6:00pm CT
Ben Skowronek

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Ben Skowronek (hip) has returned to action for Saturday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Skowronek exited in the second quarter due to a hip issue, but was able to get back on the field shortly after halftime. He hauled in both his targets for 25 yards before exiting the contest. He's mainly a special teams player, but is seeing more chances as a wideout with George Pickens (hamstring) still out. However, Skowronek remains behind Calvin Austin III, Van Jefferson, and Mike Williams in the pecking order.

Tank Dell Dec 21 5:50pm CT
Tank Dell

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) was carted off the field during Saturday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. It was an ugly scene that had many players in tears on the sideline. After further evaluation, Dell has reportedly suffered a dislocated knee cap. It sounds like the doctors are still determining the next step, but Dell could be forced to undergo surgery. If that happens, Dell could be sidelined for the beginning of next season, which would certainly be a bummer. Dell already suffered a season-ending injury last year, so this would be two years in a row for the young wideout. He hauled in six receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown before exiting the contest. The absence of Dell should mean increased roles for Nico Collins, Robert Woods, and Xavier Hutchinson.

Donte Jackson Dec 21 5:50pm CT
Donte Jackson

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Joey Porter Jr. (calf) has been ruled out for the rest of Saturday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Porter exited in the first quarter following a tackle on Derrick Henry. He was tagged as questionable to return, but Porter has now been ruled out for the rest of the game. Yikes, the Steelers are already without Donte Jackson (back) for this game. James Pierre and Cory Trice Jr. should see increased snaps with the Steelers down two defensive backs right now.

Justice Hill Dec 21 5:30pm CT
Justice Hill

Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill (concussion) has been ruled out for the rest of Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hill landed on his head and immediately exited to the locker room to be further evaluated. The team has decided to hold him out for the second half of this game due to a concussion. Rasheen Ali figures to see an increased role as the change-of-pace back to Derrick Henry in the backfield. Hill rushed the ball twice for 30 yards before exiting the contest. Fantasy managers will have to wait and see how he progresses before knowing his availability for Week 17.

Tank Dell Dec 21 4:10pm CT
Tank Dell

Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) suffered a significant knee injury and will stay in a Kansas City hospital overnight on Saturday night for further evaluation. Dell caught six passes for 98 yards and a touchdown before his left leg was rolled up on during his touchdown catch. Soon after the game, he appears to have suffered a very serious injury and will not travel back to Houston with the team as he gets further medical advice on his knee.

Bub Means Dec 21 4:00pm CT
Bub Means

New Orleans Saints coach Darren Rizzi said wide receiver Bub Means (ankle) had a setback and probably won't return this season. Means filled in this season for a depleted wide receiver corps for the Saints and recorded nine catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. He will look to next season to recover and be back fully healthy. He never completely emerged as a fantasy-relevant option during his rookie year.

From RotoBaller

Luke Musgrave Dec 21 4:00pm CT
Luke Musgrave

Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints. Musgrave has been out since Week 5 with his injury and could make a return this week. His presence would be less relevant for his fantasy value and more tied to the value of Tucker Kraft. Kraft looks like a great tight-end option this week and Musgrave's return would only cut into his value a little bit this week. If Musgrave is out, Kraft is locked and loaded as the go-to tight end for the Packers and is a great play at the position.

From RotoBaller

Jayden Reed Dec 21 3:50pm CT
Jayden Reed

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed had a hot start to his 2024 NFL season but has been stuck in a slump and Reed looks like climb out of it in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints. Reed has 34 receiving yards or fewer and is averaging less than four targets per game in his last five games. While Reed has three touchdowns in those games, those touchdowns are what is fueling his fantasy value lately, not his target-earning ability. Add in Romeo Doubs returning to the Packers' lineup from concussion protocol last week, and that addition continues to smooth out targets for every other pass-catching option for Green Bay. The Saints have been a middle-of-the-pack team in defending slot receivers this season, so the matchup good. Despite that, Reed is a low-end flex option for fantasy managers given the Packers' focus on the run and dwindling passing-game opportunities.

From RotoBaller

Bradley Chubb Dec 21 3:50pm CT
Bradley Chubb

Miami Dolphins pass rusher Bradley Chubb (knee) will not be activated by the team prior to its game against San Francisco in Week 16. Chubb is working his way back from a serious knee injury he suffered late last season. The Dolphins won't have their talented outside pass rusher back in action this week and if they are eliminated from playoff contention with a loss, Chubb will likely not make his return this season. Chubb could add to a playoff run for the Dolphins but there is little upside to bringing him back this season otherwise.

From RotoBaller

Christian Watson Dec 21 3:50pm CT
Christian Watson

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has been the Packers' primary downfield option in recent weeks and looks to break off some long gains as the Packers host the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. Watson's game is well-known at this point for fantasy: break off a long gain or two and hope he gets into the end zone. With two 100-yard games in his past five contests, Watson has been a solid fantasy option. When he hasn't, he's been hard to stomach when in lineups. With Romeo Doubs returning last week from concussion protocol, that adds another weapon and spreads out targets even more for the other remaining pass-catchers like Watson, Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft, and others. With Watson being a clear boom-or-bust option in fantasy football lineups, he's more of a volatile flex option despite a great matchup against the Saints in Week 16.

Tucker Kraft Dec 21 3:50pm CT
Tucker Kraft

Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft had his worst fantasy performance in the past four games and looks to right the ship against the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. Kraft has been a solid tight end option for fantasy managers this season but laid an egg last week as he caught both targets for just 34 yards against the Seattle Seahawks. With Romeo Doubs making his return from concussion protocol, the pass-catching group got a bit more crowded with Doubs adding back into a group that features Kraft, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks. Not only that, but Jordan Love and the Packers have featured the run game more prominently. Kraft is going to have to make his opportunities count when he gets them, but he has an excellent matchup with the Saints on tap as the Saints are a middle-of-the-pack defense against fantasy tight ends on the season. Consider Kraft a low-end fantasy TE1 for Week 16.

Robert Woods Dec 21 3:40pm CT
Robert Woods

Houston Texans wide receiver Robert Woods had a season-best six targets on Saturday in a 27-19 loss at Kansas City, finishing the day with three catches for 19 yards. The increase in work was tied to an injury, as wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) left the game and did not return after being carted off. Houston is already without wide receiver Stefon Diggs (knee) for the season, and a serious injury to Dell would vault Woods into being the team's No. 2 receiver. In that case, the veteran would be a popular waiver wire add with most fantasy leagues playing their Super Bowl in Week 18, during which Houston takes on the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day.

From RotoBaller

Jordan Love Dec 21 3:40pm CT
Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has a great matchup on tap as the Packers host the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. Love has been solid this season, but for fantasy purposes, it's left fantasy managers wanting a bit more. With just one top 12 finish among fantasy quarterbacks in the last four weeks, Love has been a floor play in fantasy despite multiple touchdowns in three of those four weeks. The lack of passing volume and increasing willingness to lean into the run with Josh Jacobs has impacted the fantasy viability of not just Love, but Green Bay's pass-catchers too. With a great matchup against the Saints who give up the seventh-highest passing yards per game this season, Love is a low-end fantasy starting quarterback, but realistically, he's more of a streaming candidate for Week 16.

From RotoBaller

Josh Jacobs Dec 21 3:40pm CT
Josh Jacobs

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs looks to keep his awesome run going in Week 16 as the Packers host the New Orleans Saints. Jacobs has been on fire over the last five games, where he's scored nine touchdowns and averages 21 carries and 112 total yards per game. The Packers have been leaning more and more towards the run in the second half of this season as Green Bay has a bottom-five pass rate over expected. The expectation for Jacobs to continue that rushing volume is there against a Saints team that ranks 28th in defensive EPA per rush attempt. With this excellent matchup looming, it should be no surprise that Jacobs is a must-start option at running back for fantasy managers this week.

From RotoBaller

Spencer Rattler Dec 21 3:40pm CT
Spencer Rattler

New Orleans quarterback Spencer Rattler will start in place of injured starter Derek Carr (hand). Carr did not progress enough during the week to get back to active status for the Week 16 game at Green Bay on Monday night. Rattler spelled Jake Haener last week after Haener earned the start against Washington in Carr's absence. Rattler was much more effective with 135 passing yards and a touchdown in relief and Haener will serve as the backup on Monday night. Rattler has completed 69 of 120 passes for 706 yards with two passing touchdowns and two interceptions this season. The matchup at Green Bay will be a tough one in frigid weather against a very solid pass defense in the Packers. Look for other fantasy options than Rattler at the position.

From RotoBaller

Romeo Doubs Dec 21 3:40pm CT
Romeo Doubs

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs looks to keep his strong start after returning from concussion protocol going as Doubs and the Packers host the New Orleans Saints. Doubs, who hadn't played since Week 12, cleared concussion protocol to suit up in Week 15 and he scored twice and caught three passes for 40 yards on five targets. With Doubs back in the fold for the Packers, he adds a solid, consistent option to the Packers' pass-catching group, but the Packers have been leaning towards the run in recent weeks. Not to mention that the Packers and Jordan Love have also spread the wealth among their targets, so not one player has been the clear go-to receiver in the latest stretch of games. Doubs is a solid flex option for fantasy managers in a good matchup against the Saints, but the ceiling is low.

From RotoBaller

Nico Collins Dec 21 3:30pm CT
Nico Collins

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins had a solid but not overwhelming performance at Kansas City, finishing the day with seven catches for 60 yards and no touchdowns in the 27-19 defeat. Houston's top receiver led the team with 10 targets, though Kansas City ultimately was able to limit his damage. Perhaps most important for fantasy managers who advance in the fantasy playoffs this week, fellow Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) had to be carted off with what appeared to be a serious injury. If Dell is indeed out, Collins could command a massive target share with Houston due to take on a struggling Baltimore Ravens pass defense on Christmas Day.
