Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell (knee) carted off

Sun Dec 8 3:47pm ET
Field Level Media

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell was carted to the locker room with an air cast on his left leg after being pushed from behind by Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Calijah Kancey in the third quarter on Sunday.

The Raiders soon ruled O'Connell out for the rest of the game with a knee injury.

O'Connell was fleeing pressure toward the right sideline with 1:23 left in the quarter when Kancey shoved him from behind after the play. No penalty was called.

O'Connell began the season as a backup but became the starter after Gardner Minshew suffered a broken collarbone on Nov. 24.

O'Connell, who was 11-for-19 for 104 yards and an interception, was replaced by Desmond Ridder.

The 26-year-old entered the day with a 64.1 completion percentage for 795 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions over his first five games (three starts) of his second NFL campaign.

Bender's Starts/Sits: Week 14

Player Notes
Aaron Jones Dec 8 4:40pm CT
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones handled 13 carries for 73 yards and a score in his team's 42-21 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 14. He added 11 yards on 2-of-2 receiving. The former Green Bay Packer bounced back again from a down week, this time with his best efficiency since way back in Week 7 (5.62 YPC). It was Jones' third touchdown over the last three weeks. Additionally, it was his first time in four games without a fumble -- an encouraging outcome for the 29-year-old. While his yardage totals haven't been outrageous, the former fifth-round pick has been a reliable RB2 in 2024. Jones gets a rematch with the Chicago Bears next Monday, who he just totaled 129 yards and a TD against back in Week 12.

Jalen Hurts Dec 8 4:40pm CT
Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 108 yards and two touchdowns off 14-for-21 passing in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Carolina Panthers. He added eight carries for 59 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles were expected to cruise to an easy victory over the Panthers in Week 14. However, despite earning the win, that wasn't the case, with Hurts facing constant pressure all afternoon. Still, his performance was good enough to satisfy fantasy managers. With Philadelphia sniffing another postseason berth, Hurts and company will look for another win in the Week 15 intrastate showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sam Darnold Dec 8 4:30pm CT
Sam Darnold

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 22-of-28 passes for 347 yards and five touchdowns in Sunday's 42-21 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He rushed four times for seven yards and completed his third straight outing with no turnovers. The USC product came out hot in this one, pushing the ball deep early and often including 49- and 52-yard scores to his star pass-catchers. His yardage total and TD output are new career highs. Darnold tossed all five of his touchdowns to wide receivers Jordan Addison (three) and Justin Jefferson (two), while both wideouts went over 130 yards in the contest. It was an impressive performance for the seventh-year field general, who has been stellar this season -- particularly over his last four appearances, turning in an 11:0 TD:INT ratio. He'll get a rematch in Week 15 with the Chicago Bears, who he beat in OT a few weeks back.

Brock Bowers Dec 8 4:30pm CT
Brock Bowers

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers finished Sunday's loss to the Bucs by catching three of his five targets for 49 yards. The rookie was fantastic in the Black Friday, AFC West meeting with the Chiefs, bringing in 10 catches for 140 yards and one touchdown. Unfortunately, he cooled off in this one. With that said, Bowers has had a fantastic year, so fantasy managers should give him a free pass for his lackluster showing in Week 14. With Las Vegas unable to earn a trip to the postseason, it's unknown how much more the team will risk playing their core offensive players. But assuming Bowers is on the field in Week 15 versus the Falcons, he's a must-start, although that's already common knowledge.

Jakobi Meyers Dec 8 4:10pm CT
Jakobi Meyers

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers caught seven of 10 targets for 67 yards during Sunday's Week 14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led the team in targets, tied for the most receptions, and finished one yard shy of the Raiders' receiving yards leader, Michael Mayer. It has been a successful and productive three weeks for Meyers, who is averaging 12 targets, eight receptions, and 95 yards per game during that span. Amidst all of his production, Meyers would certainly like some more involvement near the end zone. He has just two touchdowns this season, including zero over his last five games. The 28-year-old will look to continue his high-volume stretch while catching passes from Desmond Ridder next Sunday versus the Atlanta Falcons.

DeAndre Carter Dec 8 4:10pm CT
DeAndre Carter

Chicago Bears wide receiver DeAndre Carter (hamstring) isn't expected to return to Sunday's game versus the 49ers. The wideout isn't a routine option for Caleb Williams. However, his likely absence will be felt on special teams. With wide receiver Tyler Scott inactive, the team may turn to cornerback Josh Blackwell to handle return duties for the remainder of Week 14.

Desmond Ridder Dec 8 4:00pm CT
Desmond Ridder

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Desmond Ridder completed 12 of his 18 pass attempts for 101 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also took one sack and rushed for three yards. Ridder entered in relief of Aidan O'Connell (knee), who was carted to the locker room and quickly ruled during the third quarter. The 25-year-old hasn't started a game this season, but he has made three appearances coming off the bench for Vegas. He could be headed for his first start of the year next week if O'Connell is forced to miss extended time. In Week 15, the Raiders face the Atlanta Falcons, potentially putting Ridder in a position to get revenge against his old team.

Sincere McCormick Dec 8 3:50pm CT
Sincere McCormick

Las Vegas Raiders running back Sincere McCormick rushed for 78 yards on 15 carries during Sunday's Week 14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also caught two of his three targets for an additional 11 receiving yards. McCormick, officially signed to the active roster this week, played admirably while filling in for Alexander Mattison (ankle) and Zamir White (quad). McCormick's efficiency and productivity also allowed him to operate as the Raiders' clear No. 1 running back over Ameer Abdullah. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor this backfield, as it's possible that McCormick remains the lead back even after Mattison and White return from their respective injuries. The 24-year-old should be treated as a solid RB3 option in fantasy football ahead of next week's battle with the Atlanta Falcons.

Baker Mayfield Dec 8 3:50pm CT
Baker Mayfield

The Las Vegas Raiders' defense forced three turnovers, registered four sacks, and allowed 28 points during Sunday's Week 14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the defense struggled to keep points off the board, the unit did a good job taking advantage of Baker Mayfield's mistakes through the air and applying pressure frequently. Defensive standouts for the Raiders included Tre'von Moehrig (eight tackles, 0.5 sacks, three passes defended, one fumble recovery), K'Lavon Chaisson (0.5 sacks, one interception), and Amari Burney (one sack, one forced fumble). This unit will look to carry some of its momentum into a Week 15 meeting with the struggling Atlanta Falcons.

Derek Carr Dec 8 3:40pm CT
Derek Carr

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (right hand, head) exited during the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 14 win over the New York Giants and did not return. The veteran quarterback took a hit and landed awkwardly after one of his rushing attempts. He was quickly taken to the locker room for evaluation, and Ross Jackson of LouisianaSports.net reports that Carr has a right-hand injury and is being assessed for a potential concussion. He finished Sunday's contest having completed 20 of 31 passes for 219 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also rushed for 12 yards. Jake Haener is expected to fill in at quarterback for the duration of Carr's absence. The Saints return to action next Sunday against the Washington Commanders.

Jonathon Brooks Dec 8 3:30pm CT
Jonathon Brooks

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks (knee) has pain in his knee and will undergo additional testing in order for medical personnel to determine the extent of his injury, head coach Dave Canales told the media after Sunday's Week 14 loss. Brooks suffered a non-contact injury during the first half and was quickly ruled out. He finished with just one carry for a loss of three yards. It's a concerning sign for the rookie, especially given his injury history. Brooks tore his ACL during his final season at the University of Texas, and that injury delayed his NFL debut until three weeks ago. Brooks, the Panthers, and fantasy managers will brace themselves for his diagnosis and hope that he's not headed for yet another lengthy absence. In the meantime, Chuba Hubbard will operate as the Panthers' primary running back.

Dane Jackson Dec 8 2:50pm CT
Dane Jackson

Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn (groin) exited during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He is officially questionable to return. At the time of his departure, Horn had registered six total tackles, bringing his season total to 62. The severity of his injury is unknown, but it was evidently enough to keep him sidelined for most of the fourth quarter. Until Horn can return to action, Dane Jackson should step up as one of Carolina's primary cornerback options alongside Mike Jackson.

Aidan O'Connell Dec 8 2:40pm CT
Aidan O'Connell

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was placed in an air cast and carted to the locker room during the third quarter. At the time of his departure, O'Connell had completed 11 of his 19 pass attempts for 104 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. He also had six rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. While O'Connell's stats weren't amazing, he helped keep the Raiders competitive and never trailing by more than four points. Desmond Ridder has replaced O'Connell at quarterback. If O'Connell misses extended time, Ridder would be in line to start against his old team, the Atlanta Falcons, in Week 15.

Bucky Irving Dec 8 2:40pm CT
Bucky Irving

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving (back) is now doubtful to return against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14. Irving exited early in the second quarter and was initially listed as questionable, but the Buccaneers revised his status and downgraded him to doubtful at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Assuming his day is done, Irving will finish Sunday's contest with four carries for three rushing yards, plus a 15-yard reception. Rachaad White will lead Tampa Bay's backfield for the duration of Irving's absence. The Buccaneers return to action next Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

D.J. Moore Dec 8 2:13pm CT

Fantasy Spin: Moore should see a good amount targets this week despite the injury and can be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Keon Coleman Dec 8 2:10pm CT
Keon Coleman

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman (wrist) will miss his fourth consecutive game with a wrist injury after officially being named inactive. The Bills take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14 and will be without Coleman and Dalton Kincaid (knee). That leaves Amari Cooper and Khalil Shakir as the top two pass-catchers available again. In their last game against the 49ers, Cooper collected three receptions for 12 yards while Shakir posted four receptions for 30 yards. Curtis Samuel may also get into the action but has been less reliable.

D'Andre Swift Dec 8 2:10pm CT
D'Andre Swift

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift (quadricep) is officially active for Sunday's Week 14 contest against the San Francisco 49ers. Swift had been listed as questionable but was trending toward playing. He'll suit up as the Bears' primary option out of the backfield and could even see a few extra opportunities with backup running back Roschon Johnson (concussion) sidelined. Swift ranks as the overall RB19 in PPR leagues this season but has been held to single-digit fantasy points in each of the last two weeks. He'll look to bounce back as a high-end RB2 this week versus the 49ers' suspect run defense.

D.J. Moore Dec 8 2:10pm CT
D.J. Moore

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore (quadricep) is officially active for Sunday's Week 14 contest against the San Francisco 49ers. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction entering this weekend. Moore has 15 catches, 203 yards, and two touchdowns over his last game, vaulting him to the overall WR15 in fantasy football through 12 games. He should continue to be started in all leagues ahead of this week's battle with the Niners.

Dalton Kincaid Dec 8 2:10pm CT
Dalton Kincaid

Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee) will officially miss his third consecutive game while he nurses a knee injury. Since Keon Coleman (wrist) will also miss Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, the main pass-catchers will be Dawson Knox, Amari Cooper, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel. In the team's Week 13 win, Knox registered two receptions for 56 yards on two targets, and the Rams give up the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
