Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (back, knee) returns to practice

Fri Nov 1 12:19pm ET
Field Level Media

Reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson returned to practice with the Ravens on Friday following a two-day absence due to back and knee issues.

While his participation level in practice was not yet known, his return to the field is encouraging for his chances to play in Baltimore's Week 9 home game against the Denver Broncos (5-3).

Should Jackson sit out on Sunday, however, the Ravens (5-3) would turn to 38-year-old Josh Johnson. Devin Leary is on the practice squad.

Baltimore coach John Harbaugh is expected to speak to reporters after Friday's practice.

Jackson, a two-time Most Valuable Player, was selected the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. He was 86-of-128 passing (67.2 percent) for 1,241 yards, 12 touchdowns and one interception for a 126.5 passer rating. He also rushed for 193 yards in the month.

Jackson, 27, has completed 158 of 236 passes (66.9 percent) for 2,099 yards and 17 TDs with two interceptions in starting all eight games. He leads the league in average yards per attempt (9.95) and passer rating (115.4).

He also has rushed 81 times for 501 yards and two TDs.

The Ravens selected Jackson with the 32nd overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisville. He was voted NFL MVP in 2019 and last season, and he is a two-time first-team All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowl selection.

Jackson has passed for 17,986 yards and 142 TDs with 47 picks in 94 career regular-season games (85 starts). He also has 956 carries for 5,759 yards and 31 TDs.

Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 9

Player Notes
Brian Thomas Jr. Nov 1 11:20am CT
Brian Thomas Jr.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers Brian Thomas Jr. (chest) and Gabe Davis (shoulder) are both considered game-time decisions for Sunday's tilt against the Philadelphia Eagles according to Mia O'Brien of 92.5 FM. Thomas was initially expected to miss at least two weeks of action but has been able to practice this week in a limited capacity which is a promising sign. Head coach Doug Pederson expressed that, "He's not going to be 100%, but no one is at this time... we also don't want any set backs" when referring to his rookie wideout. Davis has also participated in practice this week in a limited capacity. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor their status over the weekend. If one of the wideouts has to sit out, Parker Washington could be worth as a deep league flex option as he should be pushed up the depth chart.

Tee Higgins Nov 1 11:10am CT
Tee Higgins

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins (quadriceps) remained sidelined during Friday's practice according to Ben Baby of ESPN. Higgins has been unable to take the practice field all week and is now in danger of missing his second straight game. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor him throughout the weekend as the Clemson product will likely carry an injury designation. If Higgins misses this weekend's game against the Las Vegas Raiders, fantasy managers should expect Ja'Marr Chase to see a heavy dose of work with Andrei Iosivas and Trenton Irwin serving as the No.2 and No.3 options.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. Nov 1 11:10am CT
Tyrone Tracy Jr.

New York Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (concussion) continues to progress well and barring a setback, is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders according to Pat Leonard of NYDN Sports. This is a great sign for the rookie running back who suffered a concussion during last Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, it looks like the Purdue product should be able to progress through the league's protocol and not miss any time. Since Week 5, Tracy has emerged as the top option out of the New York backfield and has averaged an impressive 86.8 rushing yards per game in this span. If he can suit up, the 24-year-old should be viewed as a solid RB2 facing the Commanders who have allowed the 19th-most PPR points to opposing RBs this season.

Aaron Rodgers Nov 1 10:13am CT
Aaron Rodgers

Dynasty | Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 22-of-32 passes for 211 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a win against Houston. Dynasty Analysis: Rodgers had stated earlier this week that he was in the darkness, but apparently emerged on Thursday night in what was undoubtedly a must-win for the now 3-6 Jets. Rodgers looked like his old self at times and while he can't scramble the way he used to, he can still throw the ball accurately when he has time. His dynasty slide is likely to continue as he's still not better than a QB2 at the moment. Still, this was a step in the right direction.

Davante Adams Nov 1 10:13am CT
Davante Adams

Dynasty | Jets receiver Davante Adams had seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in a win against Houston. Dynasty Analysis: Adams started out his Jets career slowly, but led the team with 11 targets on the night and posted some big catches, including a late touchdown that sealed the game. Adams isn't the player he once was, but he could still provide low-end WR1 value the rest of the way if he builds on this performance. Adams remains a good dynasty buy for contending teams moving forward.

Davante Adams Nov 1 10:13am CT
Davante Adams

Dynasty | Jets receiver Garrett Wilson had nine catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns in a win against Houston. Dynasty Analysis: The addition of Davante Adams hasn't affected Wilson much thus far and he had two spectacular touchdown catches on the night. While there are going to be some ups and downs this year with the Jets, Wilson has been a constant contributor. For dynasty managers hoping to buy low after the Adams deal, that window slammed shut after this week's performance.

Sauce Gardner Nov 1 9:30am CT
Sauce Gardner

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner (foot) seemingly injured his foot on Thursday night during the fourth quarter of their contest against the Houston Texans. The star defensive back was able to come back into the game, but Ian Rapoport says that his status is worth monitoring especially if the team decides to do some tests on Friday. There hasn't been any official word of an injury that will cause him to miss some time just yet.

Brandon Aubrey Nov 1 9:10am CT
Brandon Aubrey

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey is currently the K4 on the season. He has only missed two field goals, made all of his extra points, and has the longest kick of the season at 65 yards. He's also made the second-most 50+ yarders behind Ka'imi Fairbairn. In Week 9, he'll go up against the Atlanta Falcons who have given up the most fantasy points to kickers this season. On average, opposing kickers are scoring 12.3 fantasy points per game against the Falcons, and with the Cowboys' offense not able to score as many touchdowns as expected, he should be quite busy this week.

Jake Ferguson Nov 1 9:00am CT
Jake Ferguson

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson hasn't been able to produce a big outing over the last couple of weeks. Week 8 was the first time he received a target share of more than 20% and failed to finish in TE1 territory. He even had the highest snap percentage of the season in that game, but went up against a solid defensive unit in the San Francisco 49ers. Now, they'll take on the Atlanta Falcons who have given up their fair share of fantasy points to tight ends (10.8 per game for half-PPR). Fantasy managers can look to Ferguson to bounce back in this one.

Robert Woods Nov 1 8:40am CT
Robert Woods

Houston Texans wide receiver Robert Woods was expected to be a bigger part of the offense in the Thursday night game against the New York Jets. During the 21-13 loss, he saw three targets and caught two of them for 44 yards. The Jets' defense shut down the passing game as they only put up 135 yards through the air compared to 187 on the ground. C.J. Stroud was also sacked eight times, so Woods didn't have much of a chance to get open. The Texans will get some extra rest heading into their Week 10 matchup against another good defense in the Detroit Lions.

Ka'imi Fairbairn Nov 1 8:40am CT
Ka'imi Fairbairn

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn had a rough outing on Thursday night along with the rest of the team in the 21-13 loss to the New York Jets. The 30-year-old made a 29 and 54-yarder as well as an extra point but missed a 27 and 56-yarder. This was the first game all season that Fairbairn missed more than one field goal which brings his overall percentage down to 84.0%. He'll look to bounce back in a Sunday night game against the Detroit Lions in Week 10.

Will Anderson Jr. Nov 1 8:10am CT
Will Anderson Jr.

Houston Texans edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. (ankle) was forced to leave their Thursday night game against the New York Jets after suffering an ankle injury in the first quarter. The reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year seemed to have his ankle rolled on as he tried to tackle the ball carrier and looked to be in a lot of pain. After getting his ankle taped, he tried returning to the game but was ultimately ruled out in the second quarter. Ian Rapoport says that his injury is worth monitoring going into next week, but Anderson will benefit from extra days of rest since they don't play until Sunday night of next week.

Micheal Clemons Nov 1 4:30am CT
Micheal Clemons

The New York Jets defense played well in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. New York sacked C.J. Stroud eight times while forcing one turnover, a Stroud fumble, in the close win. The Jets defense made things tough for Stroud and the Houston offense all night, allowing just 322 yards of total offense. They were led by Jamien Sherwood and Micheal Clemons, who notched two sacks apiece. The Jets will look to stay hot against the Arizona Cardinals on the road in Week 10.

Davante Adams Nov 1 4:20am CT
Davante Adams

New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams caught seven of his 11 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. Adams and Aaron Rodgers connected for their first touchdown since they played for the Green Bay Packers together back in 2022 on a 37-yard strike in the fourth quarter. The big outing from Adams easily goes in the books as his best effort since the Jets acquired him from the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of Week 7. Adams survived an injury scare during the second half as he was evaluated for a concussion. He ultimately passed the league's testing and was able to return to the field for the remainder of the game. Adams will be a solid WR2 in fantasy heading into Week 10's road game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Tyler Conklin Nov 1 4:20am CT
Tyler Conklin

New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin lost three yards on his lone catch in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. Conklin drew just two targets in the game as Aaron Rodgers directed 21 of his 32 pass attempts toward either Garrett Wilson or Davante Adams. That didn't leave much else for the rest of the Jets pass catchers, including Conklin who was outproduced by fellow tight ends Kenny Yeboah (one catch for 12 yards) and Jeremy Ruckert (one catch for four yards). Conklin will look to regroup heading into a Week 10 road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

From RotoBaller

Riley Patterson Nov 1 4:20am CT
Riley Patterson

New York Jets kicker Riley Patterson did not attempt any field goals but hit all three of his extra points in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. Making his debut for the Jets after they placed Greg Zuerlein (knee) on injured reserve earlier in the week, Patterson was perfect in the close win over the Texans. The veteran will presumably remain the Jets' kicker heading into a Week 10 road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

From RotoBaller

Braelon Allen Nov 1 4:10am CT
Braelon Allen

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen carried the ball four times for nine yards and failed to catch his lone target in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. Allen showed some life last week, turning 12 carries into 32 yards and a touchdown but he was right back to just a handful of carries behind Breece Hall in Thursday night's win. Allen has seen eight or fewer carries in five of his past six contests as the Jets have committed to getting the ball in Hall's hands of late. Allen remains a solid fantasy handcuff behind Hall but should not be in starting lineups in Week 10 when the Jets face off against the Arizona Cardinals on the road.

From RotoBaller

Garrett Wilson Nov 1 4:10am CT
Garrett Wilson

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson turned in a huge game in his team's 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. Wilson caught nine of his 10 targets for 90 yards and two touchdowns to help down the Texans in the close game. The veteran receiver's second touchdown was impressive as he made a leaping, one-handed grab in close coverage in the back of the end zone and just barely got both feet down in bounds for a 26-yard score. Wilson is hitting his stride after a quiet start to the season and has 60 catches for 663 yards and five touchdowns through nine games. He will be a low-end WR1 heading into a Week 10 road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Aaron Rodgers Nov 1 4:00am CT
Aaron Rodgers

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 22 of his 32 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. That goes into the books as Rodgers' first game with more than two touchdown passes all season as he helped pull off the home win. Two of Rodgers' touchdown passes went to Garrett Wilson while the last one was a 37-yard strike to Davante Adams in the fourth quarter, the first touchdown connection for the two since Adams was acquired in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of Week 7. Locked in as a QB2 in fantasy, Rodgers will take 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions into his Week 10 matchup, which will be on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.

Breece Hall Nov 1 4:00am CT
Breece Hall

New York Jets running back Breece Hall carried the ball 15 times for 74 yards and caught two of his four targets for 11 yards in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. Hall dominated the backfield work for the Jets in the close win as he out-touched Braelon Allen 16 to four in the contest. The veteran running back has now rushed for 502 yards while catching 35 passes for 327 yards and four all-purpose touchdowns through nine games this season. He will be an RB1 in fantasy heading into a Week 10 road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
