Playoff-clinching scenarios for Bills, Chiefs and Lions

Wed Nov 27 11:39am ET
Field Level Media

Buffalo, Kansas City and Detroit have a chance to punch their playoff tickets in Week 13.

The Bills (9-2) have the least complicated scenario. They can clinch the AFC East by beating the San Francisco 49ers at home on Sunday night, paired with a loss Thursday night by the division rival Miami Dolphins (5-6) at Green Bay.

The Chiefs (10-1) can clinch a playoff berth with a victory on Friday against the Las Vegas Raiders plus one of three other outcomes: a Miami loss or tie on Thursday; a loss by the AFC West rival Denver Broncos (7-5) Monday against Cleveland; or a loss by the division rival Los Angeles Chargers (7-4) Sunday at Atlanta plus a Denver tie.

Two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City can also clinch with a tie against Las Vegas and a Miami loss.

The NFC North-leading Lions (10-1) have six potential pathways, each of them requiring a win on Thursday at home against the division rival Chicago Bears.

The Lions would also need a San Francisco loss or tie plus one of the following scenarios:

--Arizona loss or tie plus Seattle loss plus Tampa Bay loss or tie

--Arizona loss plus Seattle tie plus Tampa Bay loss or tie

--Arizona loss or tie plus Seattle loss plus Washington loss or tie plus Atlanta loss

--Arizona loss or tie plus Seattle loss plus Washington loss plus Atlanta tie

--Arizona loss plus Seattle tie plus Washington loss or tie plus Atlanta loss

--Arizona loss plus Seattle tie plus Washington loss plus Atlanta tie

Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 13

Player Notes
Deonte Banks Nov 28 2:40pm CT
Deonte Banks

New York Giants defensive back Deonte Banks (ribs) will not suit up to face the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday evening, according to Dan Salomone of Giants.com. Banks remained a limited participant during practice all week but will now miss his first game of the 2024 season. Through 11 games, the 23-year-old tallied 43 tackles (33 solo), a forced fumble and seven pass deflections. As a result, Fantasy managers in IDP formats should expect Cor'Dale Flott, Dru Philips, and Adoree' Jackson to see most of the snaps on Thursday afternoon.

Darius Robinson Nov 28 2:40pm CT
Darius Robinson

Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado (back) and defensive lineman Darius Robinson (calf) were both limited participants in a second consecutive practice on Thursday. Demercado has primarily been off the fantasy radar as Arizona's No. 3 running back this year, but he has shown bursts of production, totaling 211 rushing yards, 86 receiving yards, and one touchdown so far. DeeJay Dallas would presumably take Demercado's spot on the depth chart if he can't play. Robinson, on the other hand, is a rookie who has spent the first 12 weeks on either injured reserve or the gameday inactives list. He's inching closer to making his NFL debut and, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon, has a strong chance to suit up Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

From RotoBaller

Charlie Jones Nov 28 2:40pm CT
Charlie Jones

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Charlie Jones (groin) and left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. (fibula) both remained limited in practice on Thursday. Jones has missed three consecutive weeks and has just one catch for five yards during eight games this season. Brown has also missed three games in a row. He has a decent chance to play in Week 13, but if he's inactive, Cody Ford would likely step up as the Bengals' starting left tackle.

From RotoBaller

Foster Moreau Nov 28 2:30pm CT
Foster Moreau

New Orleans Saints running back Jamaal Williams (groin) and tight end Foster Moreau (shoulder) were both limited participants for a second consecutive practice on Thursday. Williams has missed three games in a row, but it appears he has a chance to return in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Rams. If so, he would back up Alvin Kamara but remain off the fantasy radar in most leagues. Kamara will handle the bulk of New Orleans' carries, and Taysom Hill could also get involved out of the backfield. Meanwhile, Moreau hasn't missed a game this season, but he's had a quieter role on offense, catching just 15 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns through 11 games. He can be left on waivers in most fantasy leagues, especially as long as Juwan Johnson is healthy.

From RotoBaller

Carl Lawson Nov 28 2:30pm CT
Carl Lawson

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland (knee) will not suit up on Thursday afternoon to face the New York Giants according to Todd Archer of ESPN. The 23-year-old returned to action in Week 12 after missing the previous five games. However, he was unable to participate in any practice sessions this week and will now set his sights on returning next weekend to face the Cincinnati Bengals. During the first five games of the season, Kneeland tallied ten tackles (seven solo) with three assists. Fantasy managers should expect Chauncey Golston and Carl Lawson to see most of the snaps on the edge on Thursday. They will face Drew Lock, who is making his first start of the season.

From RotoBaller

Tyler Higbee Nov 28 2:30pm CT
Tyler Higbee

Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee (knee) remained limited during practice on Thursday. The veteran has spent this entire season on injured reserve, but the Rams did open his 21-day practice window recently in hopes that he might be able to return for the final stretch of the 2024 campaign. The 31-year-old is trending toward missing Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints, but the fact that he's been able to practice in a limited capacity bodes well for his chances to return before his practice window closes, perhaps as soon as Week 14 against Buffalo. In the meantime, Davis Allen and Colby Parkinson will continue to operate as Los Angeles' top tight ends.

From RotoBaller

Keon Coleman Nov 28 2:20pm CT
Keon Coleman

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman (wrist) was limited for a second consecutive practice on Thursday. The rookie hasn't played since Week 9, but back-to-back limited practices could suggest that Coleman has a chance to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13. If active, he'd still have to vie for offensive opportunities alongside Khalil Shakir and Amari Cooper. For the time being, Coleman ranks outside the top 36 fantasy receivers.

From RotoBaller

Nick Vigil Nov 28 2:20pm CT
Nick Vigil

Dallas Cowboys linebackers Eric Kendricks (groin/shoulder) and Nick Vigil (foot) are both active for Thursday's afternoon tilt against the New York Giants, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. Kendricks was unable to practice all week but was able to be cleared in time for this divisional battle. Throughout the season, Kendricks has averaged 9.7 tackles per game with two total sacks. Vigil opened the week as a non-participant but was able to log a limited session on Wednesday afternoon. Vigil has typically been deployed in a relief role, as he has only tallied ten total tackles all season. Fantasy managers should expect Kendricks to continue to see his primary role on the defense and provide a high tackle output for IDP formats.

From RotoBaller

Trevon Diggs Nov 28 2:10pm CT
Trevon Diggs

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs (groin, knee) is officially inactive for Thursday's game against the New York Giants. He had been listed as questionable after logging a limited practice on Wednesday. Diggs has made frequent appearances on the injury report this season, and although he managed to play in the first 10 games of the season, he will now miss his second contest in a row. The Cowboys will look to replace Diggs, who has 37 tackles and a pair of interceptions in 2024, with Josh Butler.

From RotoBaller

Tommy DeVito Nov 28 2:10pm CT
Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito (forearm) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants designated DeVito as their emergency third quarterback, so he could technically get into the game if starter Drew Lock and backup Tim Boyle both suffer injuries and cannot return. In all likelihood, though, DeVito will spend the entirety of Thursday's game on the sideline. He could return to the starting lineup in Week 14, but Lock will also have a chance to prove the QB1 job belongs to him, especially if he leads the Giants to a divisional victory over the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.

From RotoBaller

Drew Lock Nov 28 2:10pm CT
Drew Lock

New York Giants quarterback Drew Lock will draw the start in Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys with Tommy Devito (forearm) inactive. Lock has not started an NFL game since last season with Seattle, but that streak will end on Thursday as he and the Giants face the Cowboys in a divisional showdown. The 28-year-old could be capable of supporting solid fantasy performances from players like Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Tyrone Tracy Jr., among others. Lock himself is best viewed as a high-end fantasy QB3 this week.

From RotoBaller

Dalton Kincaid Nov 28 2:10pm CT
Dalton Kincaid

Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee) missed a second consecutive practice on Thursday. The 25-year-old played in the Bills' first 10 games of the season before missing Week 11 due to his knee injury and spending Week 12 on a bye. There's still a chance Kincaid could play in Week 13, but he'd likely need to log a limited or full practice on Friday in order to enter the weekend with any injury designation other than "out." The second-year tight end faces an uphill battle to play, and if he does sit out Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, Dawson Knox would be in line for an expanded role on offense.

From RotoBaller

Geoff Swaim Nov 28 2:00pm CT
Geoff Swaim

Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills (knee) and tight end Geoff Swaim (concussion) did not participate in practice on Thursday. Both players were sidelined in Week 12, and it appears they could face an uphill battle to suit up against the Denver Broncos in Week 13, too. Wills has played in just five games this season and, if inactive, would be replaced on the offensive line by Germain Ifedi. Meanwhile, Swaim has appeared in eight games, catching just one pass for seven yards. The third tight end on the depth chart, he'd likely be replaced by Blake Whiteheart if inactive.

From RotoBaller

Matthew Wright Nov 28 2:00pm CT
Matthew Wright

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Matthew Wright will face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13. The Chiefs kickers have caught the injury bug lately, with Harrison Butker and Spencer Shrader both sidelined. Wright will now step into the starting placekicker role for Kansas City. Wright was previously with the Chiefs in 2022 and will now get the chance to make an impact with the team again. Kansas City officially elevated Wright to their active roster ahead of their Black Friday matchup against the Raiders. Wright is ranked as the ninth-best kicker in our RotoBaller rankings this week, making him a start-worthy player. Fantasy managers looking for a fill-in at kicker can look in Wright's direction.

From RotoBaller

Josh Oliver Nov 28 1:50pm CT
Josh Oliver

Minnesota Vikings tight end Josh Oliver (wrist, ankle) missed a second consecutive practice on Thursday. The 27-year-old missed Week 12, and it appears as though he'll face an uphill battle to play in Week 13, too. Oliver had been performing quite well despite operating behind T.J. Hockenson, catching 12 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown over three games from Week 9 through Week 11. Assuming Oliver is inactive this Sunday, Johnny Mundt will earn more opportunities as the direct backup to Hockenson.

From RotoBaller

Bo Nix Nov 28 1:50pm CT
Bo Nix

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (back) was a limited participant during practice on Thursday. The rookie sensation has played in all 12 games so far this season, completing 64.9 percent of his passes for 2,548 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also has 300 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, and zero lost fumbles. Nix has ranked as the overall QB10 in fantasy football so far, establishing himself as a dependable option in most leagues. This week against the Cleveland Browns, assuming he's removed from the injury report and cleared to play, Nix will rank as a mid-to-low fantasy QB1.

From RotoBaller

Cedric Tillman Nov 28 1:50pm CT
Cedric Tillman

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) did not practice on Thursday ahead of Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Tillman suffered the concussion one week ago during Thursday Night Football, and he'd need to clear protocol within the next few days if he has any chance of playing on Monday in Denver. The 24-year-old has 24 catches, 302 yards, and three touchdowns over his last four games. If he suits up this week, he'd rank as a low-end WR3/FLEX option in fantasy football. Otherwise, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore would be on track to earn additional opportunities in the passing game.

From RotoBaller

Xavier Worthy Nov 28 1:40pm CT
Xavier Worthy

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy will face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13. Worthy was a crucial cog in the Kansas City passing attack against the Carolina Panthers in Week 12. The rookie receiver had four catches for 46 yards against the Panthers. Worthy has had four catches in the last two games and will look to continue that streak against the Raiders, who rank 12th in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers this season. Worthy's speed makes him a threat to break off a big play at any moment, but Patrick Mahomes has struggled to connect with him downfield. Nevertheless, the duo should continue to take shots deep down the field, and Worthy could deliver a week-winning performance. The 21-year-old is ranked WR50 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings, making him an optional flex start this week. Fantasy managers looking for a big performance should have Worthy in their lineups but also be aware that his floor is very low.

From RotoBaller

Roschon Johnson Nov 28 1:40pm CT
Roschon Johnson

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions. He exited during the first half and will finish Week 13 without registering a single touch. It's possible that he suffered his injury while making a tackle on punt coverage. The second-year running back leads the entire team in touchdowns this season despite operating as the clear backup to D'Andre Swift. This is the second time Johnson has suffered a concussion in the NFL; he also missed two games while in concussion protocol last year. TravisHomer will back up Swift until Johnson can return to the mix.

From RotoBaller

Josh Paschal Nov 28 1:40pm CT
Josh Paschal

Detroit Lions defensive linemen Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring) and Josh Paschal (knee) have both been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears. Onwuzurike did not appear on the stat sheet prior to his departure. Meanwhile, Paschal had registered one tackle for loss. Patrick O'Connor should earn more defensive snaps as a result of this injury news.
