Bucs rookie RB Bucky Irving active vs. reeling Raiders

Sun Dec 8 12:47pm ET
Field Level Media

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving is active for Sunday's game against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders.

Irving, the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week, was listed as questionable for Sunday's game due to hip and back injuries.

Irving, 22, has team-leading totals in carries (133), rushing yards (732) and rushing touchdowns (six) in 12 games this season. He also has 35 catches for 285 yards.

While Irving is in the lineup, the Buccaneers (6-6) listed the following players as inactive: linebackers K.J. Britt and J.J. Russell, defensive line Earnest Brown, tight end Devin Culp, safety Mike Edwards, cornerback Josh Hayes and edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.

Losers of eight in a row, the Raiders (2-10) will be without running backs Zamir White and Alexander Mattison for the third straight game. Ameer Abdullah and Sincere McCormick are expected to lead the ground attack on Sunday.

Las Vegas also listed cornerback Nate Hobbs, guard Cody Whitehair, tight end Justin Shorter and defensive end Janarius Robinson as inactive.

Player Notes
Brock Purdy Dec 8 11:30am CT
Brock Purdy

Despite a season that hasn't gone as planned in 2024, the San Francisco 49ers still plan to lock in quarterback Brock Purdy on a long-term extension for 2025 and beyond this offseason. Injuries have mostly been to blame for San Fran's 5-7 record, as their offensive line has endured some key injuries, while receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey (knee) have both missed the majority of the season due to injuries. Despite the injuries to key offensive players around him, Purdy ranks eighth in the NFL in EPA per play at the QB position and has thrown for 2,707 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his 11 starts. He should be viewed as a low-end QB1 option in fantasy this Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Purdy's 21.7 average fantasy points per game has him tied for eighth among QBs with Russell Wilson.

Trey Palmer Dec 8 11:20am CT
Trey Palmer

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Trey Palmer (hip), who was listed as questionable on the final Week 14 injury report, is officially active on Sunday to take on the visiting Las Vegas Raiders. Palmer popped up on this week's injury report with a hip ailment and was limited in practice on both Thursday and Friday, but he'll be out there this weekend in a depth role for the Bucs again. The matchup against the two-win Raiders is an enticing one, but we still wouldn't suggest the 23-year-old in starting fantasy lineups because of his lack of involvement in Tampa's offense this year, even after Chris Godwin's (ankle) season-ending injury. The second-year pass-catcher hasn't exceeded three catches for 33 yards in a game this year and has a total of just 10 receptions (18 targets) for 141 yards and one touchdown in 10 games. Palmer remains the WR4 behind Mike Evans, Sterling Shepard and rookie Jalen McMillan.

Malachi Corley Dec 8 11:20am CT
Malachi Corley

New York Jets wide receiver Malachi Corley (coach's decision) is inactive for Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins. He had not been listed on the injury report, so it appears that he's a healthy scratch. This makes sense given that the Jets activated Allen Lazard from injured reserve on Saturday, so there simply wasn't any room for Corley on the gameday roster. The rookie has appeared in eight games this season, catching just three passes for 16 yards and also losing a costly fumble. He can be dropped in all redraft leagues.

Tua Tagovailoa Dec 8 11:10am CT
Tua Tagovailoa

Miami Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead (knee) is officially active for Sunday's Week 14 game against the New York Jets. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction entering this weekend. The 33-year-old has been a staple of the Miami offensive line when healthy, proving key blocking for Tua Tagovailoa, De'Von Achane, and others. Having Armstead available boosts the fantasy value of those playmakers heading into Sunday's contest.

Jalen Coker Dec 8 11:10am CT
Jalen Coker

Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Jalen Coker (quadriceps) is officially inactive for the Week 14 game against the hosting Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Coker was listed as doubtful on the team's final injury report on Friday, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise. The 23-year-old wideout has not played since injuring his quadriceps muscle in Week 10 and will now try to get himself healthy for a Week 15 tilt against the Dallas Cowboys. Coker had a full practice on Wednesday but then was downgraded to limited and downgraded again on Friday with a DNP, signaling he may have suffered a setback. Coker hasn't really been a realistic starting option for fantasy managers in his first year in the NFL, but his absence will keep David Moore on the WR4/5 radar for desperate fantasy managers as he works as the WR3 behind Adam Thielen and rookie Xavier Legette.

Bucky Irving Dec 8 11:10am CT
Bucky Irving

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving (back, hip) is officially active on Sunday for the contest against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14. Irving injured his hip in last week's overtime victory over the division-rival Carolina Panthers but still finished with an impressive 185 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on a healthy 25 carries. The 22-year-old is also dealing with a back injury that caused him to miss some practice time this week, but he's good to go and should see the majority of touches out of Tampa's backfield again this weekend in an excellent matchup against the Raiders at Raymond James Stadium. Rachaad White and Sean Tucker will continue to be involved, but Irving has proved himself as the clear best fantasy back for the Bucs in 2024. Keep him locked into your starting lineups for Week 14.

D'Ernest Johnson Dec 8 11:00am CT
D'Ernest Johnson

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Josh Reynolds (coach's decision) and running back D'Ernest Johnson (coach's decision) are both healthy scratches for Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans. Reynolds was claimed off waivers from the Denver Broncos earlier this week, and while he has a chance to contribute amidst the Jaguars' numerous wide receiver injuries, it appears he'll need at least one more week to get integrated within the offense. Meanwhile, Johnson is inactive for the second week in a row as Jacksonville experiments with Keilan Robinson as its No. 3 running back behind Travis Etienne Jr. and Tank Bigsby. Both Reynolds and Johnson can be dropped to waivers in fantasy football.

Drew Lock Dec 8 11:00am CT
Drew Lock

New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers (groin, hip) is officially active for Sunday's tilt against the New Orleans Saints in Week 14. Nabers was a mid-week addition to the Week 14 injury report and was limited in Thursday's practice before picking up a DNP on Friday. The 21-year-old first-rounder out of LSU has been pushing to play this week and will be active, but a limited role could be on tap, giving him bust potential against the Saints due to a lingering groin injury and a hip-flexor ailment. Fantasy managers in DFS contests should probably be looking to fade him, but those in single-year leagues may have no choice but to roll with Nabers with six teams on bye in Week 14. If Nabers doesn't see the field as much as normal, wideouts Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton figure to be the primary beneficiaries of quarterback Drew Lock's targets.

Ja'Tavion Sanders Dec 8 11:00am CT
Ja'Tavion Sanders

Carolina Panthers rookie tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (neck) is officially active for Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday despite being given a questionable tag on Friday's final injury report. Sanders suffered a scary neck injury in the Week 12 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and went to the hospital, but he thankfully avoided a serious injury. He was held out of last week's overtime loss to the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers but is returning to face the Eagles this Sunday in a game in which the Panthers will likely have to throw the ball often. The 21-year-old will continue to share playing time with Tommy Tremble in Carolina, but he's at least worth a look as a TE2 sleeper in his return with six teams on bye in Week 14. Sanders scored his first touchdown of the year in Week 10 and had a season-high 87 receiving yards in Week 9.

George Pickens Dec 8 10:55am CT
George Pickens

Steelers receiver George Pickens is a surprise inactive, missing the Week 14 game because of a hamstring injury. Other notable inactives for the early games are running backs Alexander Mattison and Raheem Mostert.

Raheem Mostert Dec 8 10:53am CT
Raheem Mostert

Miami Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (hip) is not active for Week 14's game against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Spin: Mostert had been listed as questionable on the injury report after participating in all three of Miami's practice sessions during the week on a limited basis. De'Von Achane will continue to see the bulk of the action in the Dolphins' backfield and can be viewed as a low-end RB1 or high-end RB2 option, with added value in PPR formats.

George Pickens Dec 8 10:50am CT
George Pickens

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. He had been listed as questionable after logging a limited practice on Friday, and while the expectation all along was that he would be able to play, it ultimately appears that's not the case. The 23-year-old has been the Steelers' best receiver all season long, and he has been particularly excellent since Week 7, catching 29 passes for 487 yards and three touchdowns during that span. With Pickens sidelined, Calvin Austin III should step up as the Steelers' No. 1 receiver, ranking as a respectable WR3/FLEX play in fantasy football. Van Jefferson and Mike Williams could also be in line for additional opportunities.

Jakobi Meyers Dec 8 10:50am CT
Jakobi Meyers

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (ankle) is officially active for Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had been listed as questionable after logging a limited practice on Friday. Meyers has been heavily involved over the last two weeks, turning 26 targets into 16 catches for 218 yards during that span. A high-volume, high-production receiver, Meyers remains a solid low-end WR2 option for fantasy managers this week. Managers are able to start him with confidence as he continues to thrive in his No. 1 wide receiver role alongside star rookie tight end Brock Bowers.

Kendre Miller Dec 8 10:50am CT
Kendre Miller

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller (hamstring), who was activated from Injured Reserve on Saturday, is officially active for the Week 14 contest on Sunday against the New York Giants. Miller was listed as questionable on the team's final injury report on Friday but will suit up for the first time since Week 8. The second-year back out of TCU has mostly been injured since entering the league last year, and he's missed 11 of 13 games in 2024 due to two separate stints on IR. The 22-year-old is healthy now, though, and should have a role in New Orleans' backfield behind Alvin Kamara over the final five game of the season. However, veteran Jamaal Williams is also still around, and the Saints figure to ease Miller into the fold in his return this weekend against the G-Men. Miller should be avoided in starting fantasy lineups in Week 14, but he's worth a deep-league handcuff for Kamara.

Alexander Mattison Dec 8 10:50am CT
Alexander Mattison

Las Vegas Raiders running back Alexander Mattison (ankle) is officially inactive for Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had been listed as questionable after logging three limited practices in a row, but the expectation all along was that he would not be able to suit up. With both Mattison and Zamir White (quadricep) sidelined for the third consecutive week, the Raiders will turn to Ameer Abdullah as their primary running back. Sincere McCormick should also continue to carve out a solid workload against the Bucs.

Sauce Gardner Dec 8 10:40am CT
Sauce Gardner

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner (hamstring) is officially inactive for Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins. This was widely expected after Gardner missed three consecutive practices and entered the weekend listed as doubtful. The talented defender has not previously missed a contest this season, registering 39 tackles, one sack, and zero interceptions through 12 contests. BrandinEchols should draw the start in his absence.

Raheem Mostert Dec 8 10:40am CT
Raheem Mostert

Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert (hip) is officially inactive for Week 14 against the New York Jets. He had been listed as questionable after being limited in practice all week long. The veteran has handled a very reduced workload and snap share for most of this season, tallying just 236 rushing yards, 117 receiving yards, and two touchdowns through nine games. He ranks as the overall RB54 in fantasy football this year, so he would have belonged on fantasy benches (or waivers) even if active. Look for rookie Jaylen Wright to step up as Miami's No. 2 running back behind De'Von Achane.
