Raiders QB Gardner Minshew breaks collarbone, out for year

Sun Nov 24 9:18pm ET
Field Level Media

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew suffered a broken collarbone on Sunday and is done for the season, NFL Network and The Athletic reported.

Minshew suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of Las Vegas' 29-19 home loss to the Denver Broncos -- the Raiders' seventh straight defeat, dropping them to 2-9.

With Las Vegas still within a touchdown and roughly three minutes to play, Minshew was sacked by two Broncos defenders and landed on his left shoulder. He left the game, replaced by Desmond Ridder for the rest of the day.

Minshew completed 25 of 42 passes for 230 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He finishes his first season with the Raiders with 2,013 passing yards, nine TDs and 10 picks on 66.3 percent passing.

He joined the Raiders in free agency after stints in Jacksonville (2019-20), Philadelphia (2021-22) and Indianapolis (2023) and won the starting job in camp. But he was benched multiple times for Aidan O'Connell as the Raiders struggled as a team.

The Raiders have a short week coming up. They will visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday in the NFL's second-ever Black Friday game.

Bender's Starts/Sits: Week 12

Player Notes
Sam LaPorta Nov 24 8:40pm CT
Sam LaPorta

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta struggled again in the team's 24-6 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12. The second-year tight end caught three of six targets for just 19 yards, continuing a disappointing stretch of performances. LaPorta has surpassed nine fantasy points in only four games this season and has exceeded 50 receiving yards just three times. His limited involvement remains a concern, with only three games featuring four or more receptions. Despite his early promise, LaPorta has been a volatile fantasy option in 2024. He'll aim to turn things around in a Thanksgiving Day showdown against the Chicago Bears in Week 13.

Deonte Banks Nov 24 8:40pm CT
Deonte Banks

New York Giants cornerback Deonte Banks (undisclosed) will receive diagnostic imaging following Sunday's 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ryan Dunleavy of the NY Post reported the news. The 23-year-old recorded six tackles in his team's defeat. It's an interesting development as it's unclear when or even what the second-year DB injured. However, he'll apparently require X-rays for whatever it is that's ailing him. Banks is the team's snap leader at cornerback, so if he's forced to miss time, it'd be a blow to a team already having issues. With the Giants' quick turnaround this week in a Thursday afternoon matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, he could be in danger of missing the contest depending on the severity of his injury. If he can't go, Adoree' Jackson projects to see an uptick in usage as the next man up.

Jameson Williams Nov 24 8:40pm CT
Jameson Williams

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams continued to showcase his playmaking ability in the team's 24-6 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12. Williams saw seven targets, hauling in five receptions for 64 yards, and added a four-yard rush. In nine games this season, Williams has posted 60 or more yards in six contests and has delivered five fantasy outputs of 14 or more PPR points. Notably, he has recorded a 20+ yard reception in eight of nine games, solidifying his role as a big-play threat. His consistent involvement makes him a viable option for fantasy managers heading into a matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 13.

Jared Goff Nov 24 8:30pm CT
Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 26-of-36 passes for 269 yards in the team's 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12. Despite moving the ball consistently through the air, Goff was held out of the end zone for the first time in nine games, leading to a quieter fantasy outing compared to his massive Week 11 performance. Goff's down weeks can be significant, as he has finished with under 11 fantasy points in four games this season. Still, his role in Detroit's explosive offense and high-scoring tendencies always make him a fantasy threat. Goff will look to rebound in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears.

Riley Moss Nov 24 8:20pm CT
Riley Moss

Denver Broncos defensive back Riley Moss (knee) was forced from the team's 29-19 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 and did not return. The second-year DB registered four tackles before exiting the contest late in the first half. After the game, head coach Sean Payton noted that Moss sustained an MCL injury. Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports that Moss avoided a worst-case scenario, and there was some thought he could go back into the game. "We'll see where it's at," said Payton, referencing the 24-year-old's status. Heading into Week 12, the Iowa product had appeared in each game this season and led Denver's cornerbacks in snaps played. His status for Week 13's home tilt against the Cleveland Browns is unclear at this time. However, seeing him miss some practice time this week with the ailment wouldn't be shocking.

Jahmyr Gibbs Nov 24 8:20pm CT
Jahmyr Gibbs

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs thrived in the Lions' 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, taking on an expanded workload after David Montgomery exited with a shoulder injury. The dynamic back rushed 21 times for 90 yards and two touchdowns while catching all three of his targets for nine yards. Gibbs has now found the end zone in eight of 11 games this season, establishing himself as one of the league's most consistent fantasy options. Gibbs has scored 16 or more PPR points in eight of 11 games and currently ranks as the RB2 going into Sunday night. With Montgomery's status for Week 13 in question, Gibbs could see an even greater role in an intriguing matchup against the Chicago Bears.

David Montgomery Nov 24 8:20pm CT
David Montgomery

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery made the most of limited action in the Lions' 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts before exiting with a shoulder injury. The veteran back logged eight carries for 37 yards and a touchdown while catching all three of his targets for 36 yards. Despite the shortened outing, Montgomery's performance is good enough for a Top-10 RB finish this week heading into Sunday night. Montgomery has been a reliable red-zone presence for Detroit, scoring a touchdown in nine of 11 games this season. It's also worth noting that he has now recorded 15 or more PPR fantasy points in seven of 11 games His status for the Week 13 Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Chicago Bears will be one to monitor closely but looks optimistic for now.

Rico Dowdle Nov 24 8:20pm CT
Rico Dowdle

Dynasty | Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle had 86 rushing yards, three catches and 12 receiving yards in a win against Washington. Dynasty Analysis: Most importantly, Dowdle had 22 touches compared to just three for Ezekiel Elliott. It seems Dallas is finally ready to let Dowdle be the primary running back, but that may not mean much moving forward since the Cowboys are mired in a miserable season. Still, Dowdle could be a good flex player or RB2 moving forward should they continue to feature him. Unfortunately, his dynasty value likely won't rise much this year unless he really dominates over the next couple of months since it seems Dallas will likely replace him next season.

Bucky Irving Nov 24 8:19pm CT
Bucky Irving

Dynasty | Bucs running back Bucky Irving had 87 rushing yards, six catches, 64 receiving yards and one touchdown in a win against the Giants. Dynasty Analysis: Tampa Bay has a three-headed monster in the backfield with Irving, Rachaad White, and Sean Tucker, but it's hard to look at that and say any of them have a higher dynasty ceiling than Irving, who was flat-out dominant today. While his weekly value may have some volatility to it, Irving looks the part and is steadily rising up the dynasty rankings. He's a player worth attempting to acquire as the trade deadline approaches in many leagues.

Jaylen Waddle Nov 24 8:19pm CT
Jaylen Waddle

Dynasty | Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle had eight catches for 144 yards and a touchdown in a win against New England. Dynasty Analysis: Waddle recorded five catches for 109 yards in the opener, then proceeded to post nine straight games with single-digit fantasy production, which is shocking based on his level of talent and history of production. While some of that is clearly because of Tua Tagovailoa missing time, Waddle has looked lost all year, This could be the start of a second half breakout, but Waddle's dynasty managers will need to see more before trusting him in lineups. His dynasty value plunge should stop for the week, however.

Jonathon Brooks Nov 24 8:19pm CT
Jonathon Brooks

Dynasty | Panthers rookie running back Jonathon Brooks had two carries for seven yards in his NFL debut. Dynasty Analysis: #buzzkill. We figured Brooks was going to be brought along slowly, but this was unforeseen. With Chuba Hubbard taking 16 of the 18 running back carries today, it's clear he's not being replaced any time soon, especially after Hubbard signed a contract extension. At some point, this is likely going to be a much more balanced backfield, but today's performance will keep Brooks on dynasty benches until further notice and could keep his value sinking.

Jonnu Smith Nov 24 8:13pm CT
Jonnu Smith

Miami Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith caught nine of his 11 targets for 87 in yards and a touchdown in a 34-15 win over the New England Patriots in Week 12.

Fantasy Spin: Smith has been solid most of the year, but he has taken his play to another level the last two weeks with 188 yards and three scores. Lock him in as a TE1.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Nov 24 8:10pm CT
Amon-Ra St. Brown

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown's touchdown streak ended in the Lions' 24-6 road win against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12. The star wideout hauled in six of seven targets for 62 yards, leading the team in receptions for the day. St. Brown has now recorded at least six receptions in each of his last four games. He has also notched 50 or more receiving yards in eight of 11 games this season, further cementing his status as a reliable fantasy WR1. Though his eight-game touchdown streak is over, St. Brown remains a must-start option for fantasy managers. He'll look to bounce back in a favorable Week 13 matchup against the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day.

Jalen Tolbert Nov 24 8:00pm CT
Jalen Tolbert

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Tolbert recorded a touchdown in the third quarter of the exciting 34-26 win over the Washington Commanders. Tolbert was targeted four times, catching two passes for 22 yards and the touchdown. He was fifth on the team in receiving on a day where quarterback Cooper Rush spread the ball around. Tolbert will remain a touchdown-dependent flex option going forward, although the return of Brandin Cooks (knee) could further muddy his usage.

KaVontae Turpin Nov 24 8:00pm CT
KaVontae Turpin

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver/return specialist KaVontae Turpin made one of the plays of the day with his speedy 99-yard kick return late in the game against Washington. The score put Dallas up 27-17 with under three minutes to go, although they nearly lost late. Turpin totaled 179 return yards on the day and also caught a pass for eight yards on his lone target. He is off the fantasy radar in most formats, but is an intriguing dart throw in formats that utilize return yardage.

Cooper Rush Nov 24 7:50pm CT
Cooper Rush

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush played well on Sunday in the thrilling 34-26 win over the Washington Commanders. Rush completed 24-of-32 passes for 247 yards and two scores while scrambling four times for a yard in his first win of the season under center for Dallas. Rush will be in QB2 range off a short week heading into Thursday's Thanksgiving matchup with the New York Giants.

Dowdle carried the ball 19 times for 86 yards, accounting for 94% of the team's rushing yards. He was targeted three times, catching all three for 12 yards. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb paced the team in receiving in the 34-26 win over Washington on Sunday. Lamb was targeted 12 times, catching 10 passes for 67 yards while also rushing once for a yard. The star receiver remains a high-end WR2 with Cooper Rush under center as the team prepares for the New York Giants on a short Thanksgiving week.
