NFL roundup: Steelers outlast Bengals in slugfest

Sun Dec 1 9:55pm ET
Field Level Media

Russell Wilson completed 29 of 38 passes for 414 yards and three touchdowns to lead the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers to a 44-38 shootout win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

The 414 passing yards were the second most in Wilson's career. Wilson completed passes to 10 different receivers for the Steelers (9-3), who bounced back from a loss 10 days earlier in Cleveland and ensured a non-losing season for the 21st consecutive year.

After the Bengals cut their deficit to six on a 3-yard TD catch by Andrei Iosivas with 2:39 remaining in regulation, Pittsburgh recovered an onside kick and quarterback Justin Fields clinched the victory with a third-down run that allowed Pittsburgh to run out the clock.

Joe Burrow went 28-of-38 passing for 309 yards and three touchdowns for the Bengals (4-8). He got taken down for a pair of strip-sacks, including one that led to a 21-yard scoop-and-score by Payton Wilson in the fourth quarter. Burrow also threw an interception for Cincinnati, which dropped its third straight game.

Eagles 24, Ravens 19

Saquon Barkley ran for 107 yards and a touchdown and Philadelphia defeated host Baltimore for its eighth consecutive victory.

Jalen Hurts passed for 118 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 29 yards and a score for the Eagles (10-2), who have not lost since Sept. 29. In a showdown between Philadelphia's No. 1 defense and Baltimore's No. 1 offense, the Eagles held the Ravens (8-5) to their second-fewest points and second-fewest yards (372) this season.

Lamar Jackson passed for 237 yards and two TDs but lost for just the second time in 25 career starts against NFC opponents. Justin Tucker's struggles continued, as he missed two field goals and an extra point.

Buccaneers 26, Panthers 23 (OT)

Chase McLaughlin took advantage of a second chance in overtime and kicked a 30-yard field goal with 2:50 left in the session as Tampa Bay escaped Charlotte with a win over Carolina.

McLaughlin forced overtime with a 51-yarder on the last play of regulation, but he missed from 55 yards out on the first possession of the extra frame. The Panthers reached the Tampa Bay 30 on the ensuing possession but lost the ball on Chuba Hubbard's fumble before the Buccaneers' game-winning drive.

Bucky Irving ran for 152 yards and a touchdown and Baker Mayfield threw for 235 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Buccaneers (6-6). Bryce Young ran for a touchdown and threw for 298 yards on 26-for-46 passing for the Panthers (3-9).

Chargers 17, Falcons 13

Tarheeb Still intercepted Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins twice -- snagging one pick-6 -- and Ladd McConkey caught nine passes for 117 yards as visiting Los Angeles beat the Falcons.

Justin Herbert completed 16 of 23 passes for 147 yards for the Chargers, who came down with four interceptions. Los Angeles (8-4) won for the fifth time in six games despite being outgained 350-187.

Cousins completed 24 of 39 passes for 245 yards as the Falcons (6-6) lost their third game in a row. Bijan Robinson ran for 102 yards and a score, while Ray-Ray McCloud caught four passes for 95 yards and Drake London had nine receptions for 86 yards.

Texans 23, Jaguars 20

Joe Mixon rushed for 101 yards and the decisive touchdown as Houston held on to beat host Jacksonville in a game marred by an illegal hit that knocked Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence out with a concussion.

Mixon's 7-yard touchdown run gave Houston (8-5) a 13-6 lead with 8:04 left in the third quarter against Jacksonville (2-10), which lost its fifth straight game.

An ugly incident transpired with 4:06 left in the first half. Multiple skirmishes erupted after Houston linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair hammered Lawrence as he slid feet-first at the Houston 45. Al-Shaair finished a head-first launch with a forearm shot near Lawrence's head and shoulder. Lawrence immediately displayed the "fencing" hand motion associated with concussions but stood to leave the field on a cart after a few minutes.

Vikings 23, Cardinals 22

Sam Darnold threw a go-ahead touchdown pass to Aaron Jones with 1:13 remaining as Minnesota stormed back to beat Arizona in Minneapolis.

Darnold completed 21 of 31 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings (10-2), who never led until the final 73 seconds. The Vikings trailed 19-6 late in the third quarter before rallying to score 17 of the final 20 points, securing their fifth straight victory.

Kyler Murray completed 31 of 45 passes for 260 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Cardinals (6-6). Trey McBride caught 12 passes for 96 yards, Marvin Harrison Jr. had a touchdown reception and James Conner led the team with 68 rushing yards.

Colts 25, Patriots 24

Anthony Richardson threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Alec Pierce before powering his way into the end zone on a two-point conversion attempt with 12 seconds left to lift Indianapolis over New England in Foxborough, Mass.

Richardson completed 12 of 24 passes for 109 yards, two TDs and two interceptions. He added 48 yards and a score on the ground, where Jonathan Taylor led the way with 96 yards on 25 carries for the Colts (6-7).

The Patriots (3-10) amassed 200 rushing yards, getting 73 from Rhamondre Stevenson, 62 from Antonio Gibson and 59 from quarterback Drake Maye. Maye also had 238 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 24-for-30 passing.

Seahawks 26, Jets 21

Zach Charbonnet scored on an 8-yard run with 5:31 remaining as Seattle rallied for a victory against New York in East Rutherford, N.J.

The NFC West-leading Seahawks (7-5) won their third straight game. A decisive nine-play, 71-yard drive was aided by a pair of Jets penalties after New York had stopped Seattle on fourth-and-1. Geno Smith, a second-round pick by the Jets in 2013, completed 20 of 31 passes for 206 yards and one TD for the Seahawks.

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will turn 41 on Monday, was 21-of-39 passing for 185 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. New York (3-9) fell for the eighth time in nine games.

Commanders 42, Titans 19

Rookie Jayden Daniels tossed a career-high three touchdown passes and ran for a score as Washington cruised past Tennessee in Landover, Md., to snap a three-game losing streak.

Daniels completed 25 of 30 passes for 206 yards, while Terry McLaurin had eight catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Brian Robinson Jr. ran for 103 yards and a touchdown as the Commanders (8-5) tallied a season-high 267 rushing yards on 45 attempts.

Will Levis completed 18 of 37 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns for the Titans (3-9), who have lost three of their past four games. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine caught three passes for 61 yards and two scores.

Rams 21, Saints 14

Matthew Stafford threw two touchdown passes, Kyren Williams ran for a score and visiting Los Angeles held off New Orleans.

Stafford passed for 183 yards and Williams rushed for 104 yards on 15 carries for the Rams (6-6), who reached .500 for the third time this season. Stafford found Puka Nacua for a go-ahead 7-yard score with 8:54 to play.

Alvin Kamara rushed for 112 yards and Derek Carr passed for 184 and a touchdown for the Saints (4-8), who lost for the first time in three games under interim coach Darren Rizzi.

Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 13

Player Notes
Kendrick Bourne Dec 2 1:50am CT
Kendrick Bourne

New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne caught all three of his targets for 39 yards during Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He played 64 percent of the team's offensive snaps and ranked third among Patriots wide receivers with 27 routes run. The 29-year-old now has at least three catches in each of his last three games, totaling 31.5 fantasy points (PPR) and ranking as the overall WR36 during that span. It's also worth noting that Bourne's production and fantasy value would have been even higher if not for a touchdown reception that was called back due to a penalty. Moving forward, Bourne's volume and scoring potential make him a fringe top-36 fantasy receiver on the other side of the Patriots' Week 14 bye.

Kayshon Boutte Dec 2 1:50am CT
Kayshon Boutte

New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte caught three of his six targets for 41 yards during Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The 22-year-old played 71 of the Patriots' 72 offensive snaps on Sunday; this 99 percent snap share was his highest mark of the season. He now has 12 catches for 127 yards over his last four games, ranking as the overall WR56 in PPR leagues during that span. Boutte's high snap share and big-play ability make him an intriguing depth option in fantasy football, but managers can't justify starting him until he delivers FLEX-caliber production on a more consistent basis. The second-year receiver's next chance to make an impact will come on the other side of the Patriots' bye in Week 15 when they take on the Arizona Cardinals.

Hunter Henry Dec 2 1:40am CT
Hunter Henry

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry caught seven of his nine targets for 75 yards during Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Although Henry's streak without a touchdown was extended to seven games on Sunday, the veteran was still highly productive in a matchup against a Colts defense that has struggled to defend tight ends. The 29-year-old actually had a touchdown vultured by fellow tight end Austin Hooper, but he still had a productive fantasy performance of his own by turning in his fifth double-digit points total over the last eight weeks. Henry now ranks as the overall TE10 in the span since Drake Maye took over as the Patriots' starting quarterback in Week 6. He should be started in most leagues on the other side of New England's Week 14 bye.

From RotoBaller

Austin Hooper Dec 2 1:40am CT
Austin Hooper

New England Patriots tight end Austin Hooper caught all four of his targets for 42 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Hooper now has a touchdown in each of his last two games. He also has four targets in each of his last four contests, ranking as the overall TE8 during that span (and eight slots ahead of teammate Hunter Henry). The 30-year-old has continued to develop his rapport with rookie quarterback Drake Maye, and he has plenty of momentum heading into the Patriots' bye week. It's tough to trust a backup tight end in fantasy football, but if there's one worth starting, it's Hooper. He'll rank as a mid-to-low fantasy TE2 when the Patriots return to action in Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Antonio Gibson Dec 2 1:30am CT
Antonio Gibson

New England Patriots running back Antonio Gibson rushed seven times for 62 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. While Gibson operated as the No. 2 running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson, he was more efficient than the Patriots' lead back and also scored the team's only rushing touchdown. We cannot ignore just how efficient Gibson has been lately, averaging 8.9 yards per carry Sunday and 6.2 yards per carry over his last four games. As a result, he should earn more opportunities, perhaps stealing some of Stevenson's touches going forward. We've already seen some signs of Gibson getting an increased workload as Sunday's 23.6 percent snap share was his second-highest mark since Week 6.

From RotoBaller

Drake Maye Dec 2 1:30am CT
Drake Maye

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye completed 24 of his 30 pass attempts for 238 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He also rushed five times for 59 yards on the ground and took four sacks. This was Maye's second-best fantasy performance in the last six weeks, and it was also the first time since Week 10 that he coughed up less than two turnovers. Furthermore, the 22-year-old rookie delivered the second-highest rushing yard total of his young career. All in all, Maye turned in a productive fantasy showing despite the Patriots losing at home. He should continue to be viewed as a fringe top-12 fantasy quarterback on the other side of New England's Week 14 bye.

From RotoBaller

Rhamondre Stevenson Dec 2 1:20am CT
Rhamondre Stevenson

New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson rushed for 73 yards on 18 carries during Sunday's Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He also caught all three of his targets for an additional 21 receiving yards. Although Stevenson failed to find the end zone Sunday, fantasy managers have to be happy with his performance, especially considering how unproductive he was just one game earlier in Week 12. He followed up last Sunday's 13-yard clunker by tallying 94 scrimmage yards and boasting a solid 4.1 yards per carry against the Colts. Although Antonio Gibson cut into Stevenson's volume and scoring opportunities, the latter remains New England's No. 1 option out of the backfield and should be viewed as a high-end fantasy RB3 on the other side of the Patriots' Week 14 bye.

George Kittle Dec 2 1:10am CT
George Kittle

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle nearly ghosted fantasy managers in a 35-10 loss to the Bills in a snowy Orchard Park on Sunday night. The leader in half-PPR points per game at tight end had his worst game of the season, finishing with one reception on two targets for seven yards. Kittle's feeble output probably has little to do with Kittle himself, as the entire 49ers offense was behind the eight-ball from the start. The snow, the offensive line injuries, and running back Christian McCaffrey leaving early were never likely to lead to great offensive numbers for any 49ers. There is not a lot to be done from a fantasy perspective besides flush this one. Kittle will get the Chicago Bears in a neutral matchup at home in Week 14, where he'll once again be a must-start.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling Dec 2 1:00am CT
Marquez Valdes-Scantling

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling struck again in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, catching two of three targets for 36 yards and a touchdown. He and quarterback David Carr hooked up for a 28-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, giving MVS his fourth touchdown in the Saints' last three games. Similar to his previous efforts, he saw little action outside of his long play for the score despite having the highest snap share among the Saints' receivers. MVS nearly had another big gain for a possible touchdown earlier in the game, but the pass from Carr was well overthrown. Up next for the Saints are the New York Giants. New York has allowed 20 completions on 29 pass attempts of 20 air yards or more, which offers some optimism that MVS might make another big play in Week 14, however improbable that may seem.

From RotoBaller

Juwan Johnson Dec 2 1:00am CT
Juwan Johnson

New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson tied teammate Taysom Hill (knee) to lead the team in receptions and targets in Sunday's loss to the Rams. Johnson logged five catches on seven receptions for 36 receiving yards, which was good for second-most on the team (tied with Marquez Valdes-Scantling). The bulk of Johnson's yardage came on a 21-yard catch early in the fourth quarter. Hill suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter and it may cost him multiple weeks. While that would thin out the Saints' depth at tight end, it won't necessarily result in increased production from Johnson. Despite New Orleans' season-long struggles with injuries to its pass-catchers, Johnson has been fairly quiet. His five catches on Sunday were the most he had since Week 5. Johnson's prospects for Week 14's matchup against the New York Giants are not great. In 2024, the Giants have allowed the second-fewest receptions and fourth-fewest receiving yards to opposing tight ends and just one touchdown to the position.

Deebo Samuel Dec 2 12:50am CT
Deebo Samuel

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. didn't do much to regain fantasy managers' confidence during a 35-10 defeat to the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday night. Samuel Sr. finished with four receptions on five targets for 20 yards receiving. He also lost a fumble. The modest reception total represented a team-high, and the targets tied fellow wideout Jauan Jennings for the team lead. In fairness to Deebo, San Francisco's entire offense was discombobulated in the snowy affair. Down two offensive linemen in heavy snow before losing running back Christian McCaffrey to a knee injury makes for a rough assignment against one of the best teams in football. At the same time, it marks the third straight game that Samuel Sr. has been held below five half-PPR points in fantasy. It's worth noting that Samuel Sr.'s lone unfulfilled target on Sunday should have been caught, which followed two crucial drops in Green Bay last week. Samuel Sr. gets another chance to turn it around against the Chicago Bears at home in Week 14.

From RotoBaller

Alvin Kamara Dec 2 12:50am CT
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara handled 23 carries in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams, gaining 112 yards on the ground. He also caught four of his six targets for seven receiving yards, which was a new season-low. It was his third 100-yard rushing day of 2024 but the talented back extended his scoreless streak to a sixth game, his last trip to the end zone being in Week 6 against the Buccaneers. Kamara nearly got off the schneid with a 12-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter but the score was nullified by a penalty. Already one of the most frequently used players in the league, the Saints are likely to lean on Kamara even more going forward after Taysom Hill (knee) picked up an injury in the fourth quarter that may sideline him for multiple weeks. Kamara's next matchup suits him well. In Week 14 he will go against the New York Giants, who just gave up 112 yards and a touchdown to Rico Dowdle on Thanksgiving and have allowed the eighth-most receiving yards to opposing running backs this season.

From RotoBaller

Derek Carr Dec 2 12:40am CT
Derek Carr

Despite recording his most passing attempts and second-highest completion total of the season, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr finished with a mediocre line in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams. Carr went 24-for-37 for 184 yards (his third-lowest total of 2024) with one touchdown. The touchdown went to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, their fourth connection for a score in the Saints' last three games. Once again, the duo linked up on a deep shot, with Carr hitting his man from 28 yards out. Despite the Rams' vulnerability against deep passes, most of Carr's attempts were quick crosses and outs for short gains, his touchdown pass being the only completion of four attempts to clear 20-plus air yards. The Saints face the Giants in Week 14, though it will be tough to trust Carr as a bounceback candidate. New York has held opposing quarterbacks to 213.3 passing yards per game this year and has allowed just 12 passing touchdowns.

From RotoBaller

Jauan Jennings Dec 2 12:20am CT
Jauan Jennings

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings had a muted performance in a 35-10 loss to the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday night. The former seventh-round pick caught three of five targets for a team-high 56 yards. San Francisco's passing offense was almost nonexistent in the snowy affair, as Jennings shared the target lead with Deebo Samuel Sr. There should be sunnier days ahead for Jennings, who is the half-PPR WR23 in points per game this year, sandwiched between Tennesee's Nick Westbook-Ikhine and Jaguars rookie wideout Brian Thomas Jr. Jennings has two favorable matchups left on tap this season -- both at home -- in Week 15 versus the Rams and Week 17 versus Detroit. Next week, however, he gets the Chicago Bears who have allowed the sixth-fewest points per game to wide receivers.

From RotoBaller

Puka Nacua Dec 2 12:00am CT
Puka Nacua

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua caught five of his eight targets for 56 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 13 win over the New Orleans Saints. Few receivers have been performing as well as Nacua, who is the overall WR2 in fantasy football since Week 10. He has been able to thrive even when the Rams' passing attack has taken a step backward; this Sunday, he delivered an impressive fantasy performance despite Cooper Kupp having his worst game of the year and Matthew Stafford delivering his second-lowest passing yards total. Nacua continues to rank as a high-end WR1 and should be started in all leagues ahead of Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

From RotoBaller

Cooper Kupp Dec 1 11:50pm CT
Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp caught three of six targets for just 17 yards during Sunday's Week 13 win over the New Orleans Saints. This was Kupp's worst game of the season in terms of receptions, yardage, and fantasy points. He had been the overall WR3 over the last five weeks before Sunday's outing sunk his average and points total. On one hand, Kupp was drastically out-produced by Puka Nacua, suggesting Nacua may be Matthew Stafford's preferred option going forward. On the other hand, this was clearly an anomalous outing for the entire Rams' passing game, including Stafford, whose 183 yards represented his second-lowest mark of the season. Look for Kupp to bounce back as a mid-to-high fantasy WR1 in Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

From RotoBaller

Jordan Mason Dec 1 11:40pm CT
Jordan Mason

San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason found some traction in an ugly 35-10 loss to the Bills in Orchard Park on Sunday night. The 25-year-old did most of his work after starter Christian McCaffrey (knee) left the game, finishing with 78 yards on 13 carries and no touchdowns. In a development that is sure to shake up fantasy leagues everywhere, McCaffrey's injury is feared to be significant, opening up championship hopes to those who held on to Mason through CMC's return. In six starts this year, Mason averaged 5.1 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns. Ahead of Week 14, fantasy managers in leagues where Mason is unclaimed should be prepared to break the bank on the waiver wire if McCaffrey is done for the year. Mason and the 49ers get the Chicago Bears at home next week, in a must-win against a vulnerable rush defense.

From RotoBaller

D.K. Metcalf Dec 1 11:40pm CT
D.K. Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (knee) was helped off the field during Sunday's game against the New York Jets, but he was cleared to return two plays later. "He tweaked his knee," head coach Mike Macdonald said. "We did a bunch of tests and stuff, and I think he's doing all right right now. We'll see." As of now, it sounds as though Metcalf has a good chance to play in Week 14, but he'll likely still appear on their injury report over the next few days. If active, Metcalf will rank as a mid-to-low fantasy WR2 against Arizona.

From RotoBaller

Matthew Stafford Dec 1 11:40pm CT
Matthew Stafford

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 14 of his 24 pass attempts for 183 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 13 win over the New Orleans Saints. The veteran turned in his second-lowest yardage total of the season, but he still managed to turn in his third consecutive outing with at least 21 fantasy points. He has continued to play quite well lately, ranking as the overall fantasy QB7 from Week 8 through Week 13. Not only has he supported the Rams and his own fantasy value, but he has also boosted the value of the players around him, including Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and Kyren Williams. Stafford is a top-18 fantasy option for Week 14 against the Bills while keeping Kupp, Nacua, and Williams in must-start territory.

From RotoBaller

Michael Pittman Jr. Dec 1 11:20pm CT
Michael Pittman Jr.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. led the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards on Sunday, but with quarterback Anthony Richardson completing just 12 passes, it didn't amount to much. The 27-year-old caught five of seven targets for 42 scoreless yards, although the Colts were able to pull off a 25-24 victory anyway thanks to the legs of Jonathan Taylor and the aforementioned Richardson. Since Richardson was reinserted as the starting quarterback, Pittman Jr. has seemingly taken over as the preferred option in the passing game, although he had less competition on Sunday with Josh Downs out with an injury. The former second-round draft pick has at least seven targets and five catches in the last three games, however, it will be hard to exceed that output when the Colts come out of their by in Week 15 as they will face a stout Denver pass defense on the road.
