Jets to begin GM interviews

Sun Dec 15 11:32am ET
Field Level Media

The New York Jets will kick off their hunt for a new general manager with the first candidate likely to interview this week, ESPN reported Sunday.

Among those expected to interview are former Tennessee Titans GM Jon Robinson and former NFL player Louis Riddick, an ESPN analyst who has front-office experience, per the report.

The job came open Nov. 19 when the Jets fired Joe Douglas. His dismissal followed the firing of head coach Robert Saleh in October, with the Jets 2-3 at the time. New York is 1-7 under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

Robinson is expected to interview this week with Riddick soon to follow. Because they are not currently employed in the NFL, they are free to interview at any time.

Robinson was the architect of a Titans team that drafted running back Derrick Henry and wide receiver A.J. Brown. Tennessee made the playoffs four times in Robinson's seven seasons before he surprisingly was fired in December 2022.

Riddick played seven seasons in the NFL and went on to work in the front offices of the Washington and Philadelphia franchises. He has interviewed for at least three NFL general manager openings in the past.

The Jets and Jaguars are set to meet Sunday in Jacksonville in a clash of 3-10 teams.

Bender's Starts/Sits: Week 15

Player Notes
Jamison Crowder Dec 15 10:50am CT
Jamison Crowder

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jamison Crowder (calf) is active for Week 15. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after logging a full practice on Friday. He was activated from injured reserve over the weekend, suggesting that he would be able to suit up. The veteran receiver played in two games at the start of the season, catching just one pass for five yards. Crowder should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Eric Kendricks Dec 15 10:50am CT
Eric Kendricks

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Eric Kendricks (shoulder, personal) is active for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. He had been listed as questionable, and there was some concern about his availability after he missed all three practices this past week. In the end, though, the veteran defender will suit up for the Cowboys' first away game since Week 12. Kendricks has been productive in his age-32 season, registering 119 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception through 12 total games.

Jadeveon Clowney Dec 15 10:50am CT
Jadeveon Clowney

Carolina Panthers linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (knee) and cornerback Jaycee Horn (groin) are active for Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys. Both players had been listed as questionable. Clowney closed out this week's practices with a pair of full sessions while Horn was consistently a limited participant. Clowney, 31, has been productive through 10 games this season, registering 33 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Meanwhile, Horn has appeared in all 13 contests, tallying 62 tackles, one sack, and one interception. Having both playmakers available is great news for the Panthers as they enter Sunday's winnable game against Dallas.

Dustin Hopkins Dec 15 10:50am CT
Dustin Hopkins

Cleveland Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins is being benched in Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs and is a healthy scratch on Sunday. Hopkins has missed six of his last nine field-goal chances, including two in the Week 14 loss to the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers. As a result, the Browns added Riley Patterson to their practice squad earlier this week, and he will now serve as the team's placekicker in Week 15. Hopkins felt confident that he had a good week of practice, but the Browns apparently felt otherwise and were not comfortable using him this weekend. If Patterson also struggles against KC, perhaps Cleveland will turn back to Hopkins in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals. On the year, the 34-year-old Hopkins has made only 64% of his field goals (16-for-25) while also missing two of his 18 extra-point attempts in 13 games.

Drew Lock Dec 15 10:50am CT
Drew Lock

New York Giants quarterback Drew Lock (heel, left elbow) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. He had been listed as doubtful after missing all three practices this past week. Lock will serve as the Giants' emergency third quarterback on Sunday, which means he would be allowed to enter the game if both Tommy DeVito and Tim Boyle suffer injuries and cannot play. Otherwise, Lock will watch Sunday's game from the sideline. He can be dropped in most fantasy leagues now that DeVito is healthy and back under center.

Deonte Banks Dec 15 10:50am CT
Deonte Banks

New York Giants cornerback Deonte Banks (rib) is officially inactive for Week 15 against the Baltimore Ravens. He had been listed as questionable after logging three limited practices in a row. Banks played in each of the Giants' first 11 games this season, registering 43 tackles and one forced fumble. However, he has been injured since Week 12, now missing three consecutive games. Adoree' Jackson and Tre Hawkins should earn additional opportunities in the defensive secondary with Banks sidelined.

Charlie Jones Dec 15 10:50am CT
Charlie Jones

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Charlie Jones (groin) remains out of action for the Week 15 contest on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Jones didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday but was upgraded to a full practice on Friday before being given a questionable tag for Sunday's game. However, the 26-year-old has been ruled out for his sixth straight game this weekend, meaning running back Khalil Herbert and Isaiah Williams should continue to serve as the team's kick and punt returners, respectively. Jones, a fourth-round selection in 2023, has played in only eight games in his second year in the NFL and has caught his only target for a five-yard gain. When healthy, he's primarily an option on special teams for the Bengals as a returner and is off the fantasy radar. He had seven catches for 64 yards and no touchdowns in 11 games as a rookie.

KaVontae Turpin Dec 15 10:43am CT
KaVontae Turpin

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin remains a shaky fantasy option ahead of the Week 15 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Last week, Turpin hauled in one of his four targets for 16 yards in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He also rushed the ball twice for 15 yards, but he only saw 17 percent of the offensive snaps. The return of Brandin Cooks has pushed Turpin further back on the depth chart in recent weeks. It's hard to imagine Turpin making much of an impact as the fourth or fifth wideout in this offense.

David Njoku Dec 15 10:43am CT
David Njoku

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (hamstring) has been declared inactive for the Week 15 game.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to monitor Njoku's practice status next week to see if he will have a chance to play in Week 16. Jordan Akins will be more involved in the passing game with Njoku out but can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Zane Gonzalez Dec 15 10:40am CT
Zane Gonzalez

Washington Commanders center Tyler Biadasz (illness) and kicker Zane Gonzalez (left foot) are both inactive for Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints. Biadasz did not appear on the injury report, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that Biadasz was fighting an illness and faced an uphill battle to play. In the end, he's inactive, leaving Michael Deiter in line to start at center. Meanwhile, Gonzalez had been listed as questionable after logging two full practices to end the week. He has been filling in for the injured Austin Seibert (groin), going 3-for-5 on field goals and 10-for-10 on extra points through three games. With Gonzalez sidelined, GregJoseph will step up as Washington's kicker. The 30-year-old missed three field goals earlier in the year with the New York Jets, but he's still an appealing fantasy option given the frequency at which the Commanders score.

David Njoku Dec 15 10:40am CT
David Njoku

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (hamstring) wasn't able to do enough during pre-game workouts to convince the coaching staff to play him this weekend and he's been officially ruled out for Sunday's contest against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15. The Browns said early this week that it was looking unlikely that Njoku would be able to play after getting injured in the Week 14 loss to the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite missing practice all week, though, Njoku wasn't ruled out and was listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report. We now know fantasy managers won't have Njoku this week, and quarterback Jameis Winston will also be without receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) for a third straight game. Jordan Akins will likely see more action with Njoku out, but receivers Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore will most likely benefit the most from a fantasy perspective.

Michael Woods II Dec 15 9:50am CT
Michael Woods II

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Michael Woods II is expected to serve as the third wideout for the Week 15 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Browns will be without Cedric Tillman (concussion) for the third straight week. As a result, Woods should see more work on the field, but he doesn't offer great fantasy value. Over the last two games, Woods has four receptions for 55 yards and no scores. Possibly, Woods takes on a bigger role if tight end David Njoku (hamstring) is unable to go. At best, Woods is a desperation flex option in deep leagues for Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Cairo Santos Dec 15 9:40am CT
Cairo Santos

Chicago Bears kicker Cairo Santos hasn't made a field goal in two straight weeks, but is hopeful to bounce back in Week 15. Santos has made three extra point attempts and has zero field goal attempts in each of the last two games. The Bears having been playing from behind by big scores lately which has limited the opportunities for Santos. It doesn't look like it's going to get easier for the Bears as they play a tough Minnesota Vikings squad in Week 15. Santos hasn't given fantasy managers any reason to trust him heading into important fantasy playoff games this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Eddy Pineiro Dec 15 9:30am CT
Eddy Pineiro

Carolina Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro is coming off a tough outing during the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Pineiro made his lone field goal attempt and made 1-of-2 extra point attempts in the loss. The 29-year-old has now missed a week in two straight weeks. The Panthers offense finally coming alive has given Pineiro more streaming appeal lately. However, he remains a risky streaming choice ahead of the Week 15 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Pineiro has three misses over the last two games, so fantasy managers should look elsewhere for help ahead of Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Brandon McManus Dec 15 9:20am CT
Brandon McManus

Green Bay Packers kicker Brandon McManus knocked down all five of his kicks during last week's loss to the Detroit Lions The veteran kicker has been reliable lately by making all of his kicks over the last four games. It appears the Packers have solved their problem at the kicker spot with the 33-year-old succeeding on every chance he gets. Fantasy managers might want to be cautious about starting McManus in Week 15. They play a Seattle Seahawks defense that done a nice job at keeping kickers in check. Fantasy managers might want to look for a kicker with a better matchup for Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Chad Ryland Dec 15 9:20am CT
Chad Ryland

Arizona Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland was quiet during last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 25-year-old made one-of-two field goal attempts and connected on his lone extra point try in the loss. Ryland has been decent this season as he knocked down 19-of-23 field goal attempts heading into the Week 15 matchup against the New England Patriots. It's worth noting that Ryland could lose his kicking job with Matt Prater (knee) nearing a return. Outside of his five field goal game in Week 13, Ryland has been fairly quiet this season. Fantasy managers should be able to find a better streaming option ahead of this game.

De'Vondre Campbell Dec 15 9:13am CT
De'Vondre Campbell

Updating previous reports, San Francisco 49ers LB De'Vondre Campbell is expected to be suspended for refusing to play in Week 15's game versus the Los Angeles Rams. The team is unlikely to place him on waivers because he could then be claimed by another club and play out the remainder of the season. In addition, the 49ers would then be able to reclaim some of his $3.35 million signing bonus.
