NFL Week 2: Predictions, Prop Pick for every game

Fri Sep 12 2:08pm ET
Field Level Media

Field Level Media NFL writers offer their prediction and one intriguing prop bet for every Week 2 game.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Bengals -3.5, Total 49.5

Prediction: Bengals 30-23

Prop Pick: Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase over 84.5 yards (-113 Bet365)

Chase was silent Week 1 (two catches, 26 yards). Last season he was held under 45 receiving yards twice. The two games after were a two-TD game vs. Washington (6-118) and a three-TD game at Baltimore (11-264).

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Cowboys -5.5, Total 44.5

Prediction: Cowboys 27-16

Prop Pick: Giants QB Russell Wilson over .5 interceptions (-115, BetMGM)

Wilson's interception in Week 1 didn't count. It was wiped out because of a roughing-the-passer penalty on former teammate Bobby Wagner. Dallas locked down the Eagles' outside receivers in the opener and has a sticky-handed secondary that will make comeback mode a challenge if the Giants fall behind again.

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Lions -5.5, Total 46.5

Prediction: Lions 28-20

Prop Pick: Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs 70-plus rushing yards plus anytime TD (+190, DraftKings)

Gibbs caught 10 passes last week and has been an animal at home. He also destroys the Bears. Gibbs had 975 yards from scrimmage (108.3 per game), 12 TDs (nine rushing) in nine home games last season. In four career games against the Bears, he has 435 total yards (108.8 per game) and three rushing touchdowns.

Tennessee Titans vs. Los Angeles Rams

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Rams -5.5, Total 41.5

Prediction: Rams 24-15

Prop Pick: Rams RB Kyren Williams over 74.5 rushing yards (-115, DraftKings)

Williams had at least 75 rushing yards in 10 games last season and is over 100 rushing yards in three consecutive road games.

Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Dolphins -1.5, Total 43.5

Prediction: Dolphins 26-13

Prop Pick: Patriots WR Stefon Diggs over 41.5 receiving yards (-110, Caesars)

Diggs was targeted seven times and caught six passes Week 1, and the Dolphins allowed more than nine yards per dropback to the Colts in the opener. With Diggs working inside and second-year QB Drake Maye programmed not to hold the ball by offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, this connection is very likely to be well-worn in Week 2.

New Orleans Saints vs. San Francisco 49ers

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: 49ers -4.5, Total 41.5

Prediction: 49ers 23-10

Prop Pick: Saints TE Juwan Johnson over 33.5 receiving yards (-110, FanDuel)

Johnson hit the over on receptions and receiving yards nine times in the past 13 games. He caught eight passes for 76 yards in Week 1.

New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Bills -6.5, Total 46.5

Prediction: Bills 26-22

Prop Pick: Bills QB Josh Allen over 5.5 rushing attempts (-120, FanDuel)

Allen has gone over his rushing total projection in six consecutive road games, and the Jets are committed to man coverage. RB James Cook came out of the Sunday night win banged up and Allen ran nine times with a TD at the Jets in 2024.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Steelers -2.5, Total 39.5

Prediction: Steelers 22-17

Prop Pick: Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet anytime TD (+220, FanDuel)

Pittsburgh's 17 missed tackles were the worst in the NFL in Week 1, and the Jets steamrolled the Steelers' run defense all day long to be in position to pull the upset. There's no fear of Sam Darnold tucking the ball to run, but Seattle does have an RB tandem to move the chains. Charbonnet shares time with Kenneth Walker but is the best option when Seattle needs to pick up hard yards. He scored his 10th career rushing touchdown last week.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Ravens -10.5, Total 44.5

Prediction: Ravens 35-17

Prop Pick: Ravens TE Mark Andrews anytime TD (+165, )

Baltimore led the NFL with 17 red-zone TD passes in 2024. Andrews caught TD passes in both games against the Browns last season and hit Cleveland with a two-TD game in 2023. With all the focus on hemming in QB Lamar Jackson and handling RB Derrick Henry, Andrews is a great prop target Sunday. An Andrews parlay of over 3.5 receptions and 40.5 yards plus a touchdown is worth contemplation.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Broncos -1.5, Total 41.5

Prediction: Broncos QB Bo Nix over 34 pass attempts (+121, DraftKings)

Prop Pick: Nix attempted 40 passes last week and while he was miserable against the blitz and turned the ball over three times, coach Sean Payton doesn't change his stripes. He'll blend the running game, but the ball will be in the hands of the quarterback again this week.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Carolina Panthers

Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Cardinals -6.5, Total 45.5

Prediction: Cardinals 33-18

Prop Pick: Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard over 61.5 rushing yards (-115 at ESPNBet)

Hubbard hammered the Cardinals for 152 yards on 25 carries last season in an overtime win against Arizona. No doubt Arizona is prepared for the plow horse approach from Carolina this week, but can they stop it? After giving up 126.4 yards per game rushing last season, they allowed 4.9 yards per carry at New Orleans in Week 1.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Eagles -1.5, Total 46.5

Prediction: Eagles 31-23

Prop Pick: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes over 235.5 yards (-112, BetMGM)

Mahomes might not have his preferred pecking order at wide receiver, and Xavier Worthy was the biggest threat to Philadelphia in the Super Bowl loss. Even if Worthy isn't on the field, the Chiefs have to like what they saw out of the Dallas downfield passing game. Dak Prescott was a couple CeeDee Lamb drops from a 300-plus yard game in the opener and Mahomes had more than 235.5 yards in 10 games last season with the same mishmash receiving corps questions.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Atlanta Falcons

Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Vikings -4.5, Total 45.5

Prediction: Vikings 26-23

Prop Pick: Falcons RB Bijan Robinson over 3.5 receptions (-110, Bet365)

Robinson caught six passes for 100 yards in Week 1,and if Drake London (shoulder) winds up missing time or being limited Sunday night, his 15 targets are going to be spread around with backs picking up more target share. Noteworthy value on Robinson at +146 for five-plus catches was also available at FanDuel. If you can get a good number on Falcons WR Ray-Ray McCloud, he caught eight passes for 98 yards with a season-high 11 receptions at Minnesota in December 2024.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Houston Texans

Monday, 7 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Texans -2.5, Total 42.5

Prediction: Texans 26-19

Prop Pick: Texans RB Nick Chubb longest run under 13 yards (-110, DraftKings)

Broken tackles and yards after contact are the route to success for Chubb. The Buccaneers wrapped up Robinson (12 carries, 24 yards) last week and Falcons' running backs had a long gain of six yards.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Monday, 10 p.m. ET

FanDuel odds: Chargers -3, Total 46.5

Prediction: Chargers 27-13

Prop Pick: Raiders QB Geno Smith over 244.5 passing yards (-114 FanDuel)

Until Ashton Jeanty gets more consistent alleys to attack, the plan for defenses was set by the Patriots last week: stack the box and shoot gaps to make Smith complete short, quick passes all the way down the field. The over of 31.5 pass attempts is equally inviting, but value is short at -140 at FanDuel.

Starts, Sits, Sleepers: Week 2

Player Notes
Ashton Jeanty Sep 12 2:30pm ET
Ashton Jeanty

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty had a tough Week 1 against the Patriots, managing just 40 yards from scrimmage but salvaging his day with a three-yard touchdown run. Encouragingly, Jeanty dominated the backfield workload, logging 86% of snaps and handling 19 of the team's 22 rushing attempts, cementing himself as the clear lead back. Week 2 presents another challenge, as the Chargers limited the Chiefs to just 98 rushing yards in their opener. If Los Angeles sells out to stop the run the way New England did, the Raiders may lean more on Geno Smith and the passing game, potentially capping Jeanty's ceiling. Still, his elite usage keeps him firmly in the RB2 mix with touchdown upside.

Tyler Warren Sep 12 2:30pm ET
Tyler Warren

In his first career NFL game, rookie tight end Tyler Warren led the Colts in targets and receptions, chipping in 76 yards through the air. Impressively, his impact on Shane Steichen's offense went beyond the numbers he was able to put on the stat sheet. Michael Pittman Jr.'s 27-yard touchdown in the second quarter was the direct result of space created along the sideline when Dolphins' safety Ifeatu Melifonwu chose to carry Warren down the seam. In the running game, Warren at times looked like a 6th offensive lineman, clearing space for Jonathan Taylor, DJ Giddens, and Daniel Jones on a day where the Colts put up 156 yards on the ground. The Colts invested a first-round draft pick in Warren, and through one week, it appears they have a clear plan to run the offense through him. Week 1 was arguably the most successful game of the Shane Steichen era, and it should not be a surprise to see Warren rewarded for his dirty work with more fantasy-friendly opportunities.

Kalif Raymond Sep 12 2:30pm ET
Kalif Raymond

Detroit Lions wide receiver Kalif Raymond played ahead of rookie wideout Isaac TeSlaa in Week 1, recording two catches for 16 yards on three targets against the Green Bay Packers. That may not be the case in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears after TeSlaa's highlight-reel touchdown grab against Green Bay. Raymond has worked in a gadget/downfield role for the Lions over the past couple of seasons, which may not be as effective under new Detroit play-caller John Morton as it was under former offensive coordinator and current Bears head coach Ben Johnson. Raymond is an explosive player with the ball in his hands due to his speed, but he's not a fantasy-viable wide receiver unless the Lions suffer multiple injuries at the position.

From RotoBaller

Isaac TeSlaa Sep 12 2:20pm ET
Isaac TeSlaa

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa only saw one target in Week 1, but he made it count with a highlight-reel, one-handed touchdown grab. Lions offensive coordinator John Morton said after the game that the team plans to get TeSlaa more involved going forward, which could start with Detroit's Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Between wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, as well as tight end Sam LaPorta and running back Jahmyr Gibbs, the Lions still have multiple pass-catchers above TeSlaa in the pecking order for targets and touches. That makes TeSlaa more of a long-term stash in deep leagues than a viable fantasy starter at wide receiver in Week 2.

From RotoBaller

Amon-Ra St. Brown Sep 12 2:10pm ET
Amon-Ra St. Brown

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was held in check by the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, recording four catches for 45 yards on six targets. As a player who typically does his best work out of the slot, St. Brown has an easier matchup on paper in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears, who could be without starting nickel corner Kyler Gordon (hamstring). The Lions could be without starting left tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder), which may incentivize quarterback Jared Goff to prioritize St. Brown as a short-area target. In eight career games against Chicago, St. Brown has recorded 46 catches for 515 yards and two touchdowns. He profiles as a must-start fantasy wide receiver in Week 2.

From RotoBaller

Geno Smith Sep 12 2:10pm ET
Geno Smith

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith (hamstring) practiced in full on Thursday and did not appear on the injury report ahead of a Week 2 matchup with the Chargers. Smith opened the year strong, finishing as the QB11 in standard formats after throwing for 362 yards while leading all quarterbacks in yards per completion (15.1). Chip Kelly's creative offense appears to be unlocking the best in Smith, positioning him as a steady low-end QB1/high-end backup option moving forward. This week's matchup offers upside, as the Chargers surrendered the 11th-most passing yards in Week 1, giving Smith a prime opportunity to exploit an underwhelming secondary.

From RotoBaller

Jameson Williams Sep 12 2:10pm ET
Jameson Williams

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was quiet in Week 1, hauling in four of five targets for just 23 receiving yards in his team's 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Williams will now face the Chicago Bears in Week 2, whom he recorded 10 catches for 171 yards and a touchdown against across two games last season. However, there's reason to think this Sunday could be a struggle for Williams. For one, Chicago is likely to get star corner Jaylon Johnson (calf/groin) back in the lineup after Johnson missed Week 1. Secondly, Detroit could be without starting left tackle Taylor Decker, which could speed up quarterback Jared Goff's time-to-throw and make it difficult for Williams to earn downfield targets. Williams still has big-play potential, but he profiles as a boom/bust low-end WR3/flex option in Week 2.

From RotoBaller

Jake Bates Sep 12 2:00pm ET
Jake Bates

Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates held up his end of the bargain in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, nailing both of his field goal attempts and an extra-point try in his team's 27-13 loss. Bates will not have to worry about any potential weather issues in Week 2, as the Lions return home to the domed Ford Field to take on the Chicago Bears. Bates has more career points scored (21) against Chicago than any other NFL team. The Lions should also have an easier time moving the football and generating scoring opportunities against the Bears than they did against the Packers. Bates profiles as a low-end top-12 fantasy kicker in Week 2 against Chicago.

From RotoBaller

Dont'e Thornton Jr. Sep 12 2:00pm ET
Dont'e Thornton Jr.

Las Vegas Raiders rookie wide receiver Dont'e Thornton Jr. was quiet in the team's Week 1 win over New England, logging just two catches on four targets for 45 yards while playing 60% of the snaps. Encouragingly, he drew more targets than Tre Tucker despite fewer snaps, and the Raiders leaned on the passing game as Geno Smith threw for 362 yards. With Chip Kelly determined to stretch the field, Thornton's speed keeps him in play as a stash with big-play potential. The Week 2 matchup adds intrigue, as the Chargers just allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers in Week 1, giving Thornton an outside chance to make noise if he sees increased usage. Until his role grows, he's best kept on benches, but the upside is worth monitoring.

From RotoBaller

Quinshon Judkins Sep 12 2:00pm ET
Quinshon Judkins

Cleveland Browns rookie second-round running back Quinshon Judkins is officially listed as questionable to make his NFL debut in Week 2 versus the division-rival Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, according to Tony Grossi. The Browns think Judkins is in good shape, but the 21-year-old practiced with the team on Thursday for the first time since mandatory minicamp in the spring due to a domestic-violence incident. Even if Judkins is active on Sunday, he'll likely work as the team's RB3 behind Jerome Ford and fellow rookie Dylan Sampson, making him one to fade in all fantasy formats. Although nothing is official yet, there are rumblings that the NFL could come down hard on Judkins and suspend him for two to four games, even though he wasn't formally charged in his domestic-violence case. The Browns have until Saturday afternoon to officially activate him and put him on the 53-man roster.

From RotoBaller

Jakobi Meyers Sep 12 2:00pm ET
Jakobi Meyers

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers cemented himself as the offense's most reliable option in Week 1, drawing 10 targets and converting eight into 97 yards. As the veteran presence in a young receiving corps, Meyers has quickly earned the trust of Geno Smith, thriving as a chain-mover while Tre Tucker and Dont'e Thornton Jr. stretch the field vertically. His high-volume role makes him a consistent fantasy asset, and if Brock Bowers (knee) is sidelined, Meyers could see an even larger workload as the Raiders lean on his reliability. Ranked as RotoBaller's WR22 for Week 2, Meyers should be locked into starting lineups across all formats.

From RotoBaller

Sam LaPorta Sep 12 1:40pm ET
Sam LaPorta

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta was one of the few Lions who delivered a decent fantasy performance in Week 1, hauling in six of his nine targets for 79 yards against the Green Bay Packers. LaPorta will now face the Chicago Bears in Week 2, a team he has scored three touchdowns against in four career games played. Chicago allowed just three catches and 15 yards to Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson in Week 1. LaPorta's Lions have health and productivity questions along their offensive line, but that could actually help LaPorta's outlook by forcing Jared Goff to target the short and intermediate areas of the field more often. LaPorta is a must-start fantasy tight end against Chicago in Week 2.

From RotoBaller

Jared Goff Sep 12 1:30pm ET
Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff averaged just 5.8 yards per pass attempt in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. He was also sacked four times, and could now be without starting left tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder) in Week 2. Goff does have an easier matchup on paper this Sunday against the Chicago Bears, whom he torched for 523 passing yards and five touchdowns across two games in 2024. However, particularly if Decker cannot play, Detroit's offensive line looks significantly worse in 2025 and may prevent Goff from consistently pushing the ball downfield. He profiles as a mid-tier fantasy QB2 in Week 2 against the Bears.

From RotoBaller

Christian Kirk Sep 12 1:30pm ET
Christian Kirk

Houston Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk (hamstring) is missing his second straight day of practice on Friday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Kirk missed the Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday and looks primed to miss his second straight game to begin the 2025 season in Monday night's tilt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the 28-year-old has one more chance to practice on Saturday. But as of now, fantasy managers shouldn't like Kirk's chances of playing in Week 2. Rookie Jaylin Noel was expected to see most of the slot duties in Week 1 with Kirk out, but he caught just one of two targets for seven yards. The Texans spread the ball around and couldn't do much on offense against the Rams. Expect Nico Collins to continue to see the vast majority of looks in the passing attack if Kirk sits, with Noel, rookie Jayden Higgins, and Xavier Hutchinson battling for secondary looks.

From RotoBaller

David Montgomery Sep 12 1:20pm ET
David Montgomery

Like most of the Lions offense, David Montgomery had a quiet Week 1. The 28-year-old rushed for 25 yards on 11 carries, adding 18 yards on four receptions out of the backfield. The re-worked interior of Detroit's offensive line struggled last week against the Green Bay Packers, but they have an easier matchup on paper against the Chicago Bears in Week 2. In three career games against Chicago, Montgomery has rushed for 230 yards and a touchdown on 43 carries. In the lone game last season where both Montgomery and fellow Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs were active, Montgomery earned 21 carries while Gibbs recorded just nine. Detroit's shaky offensive line play in Week 1 raises questions about Montgomery's effectiveness in Week 2, likely making him dependent on finding the end zone to be productive in fantasy. He profiles as a low-end RB3/flex option against the Bears.

From RotoBaller

Jahmyr Gibbs Sep 12 1:10pm ET
Jahmyr Gibbs

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had one of the least efficient games of his career in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, totaling just 50 yards from scrimmage on 19 touches without reaching the end zone. Gibbs led the Lions in receptions with 10, but he was only able to log 31 receiving yards on those 10 catches. The 23-year-old has a much easier matchup on paper in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears, who allowed 120 rushing yards to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. In two games against Chicago last season, Gibbs rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown on 32 carries and added six catches for 62 yards as a receiver. However, it's worth noting that fellow Lions back David Montgomery did not play in one of those games, and Gibbs had fewer rush attempts (nine) than Montgomery (11) against the Packers on Sunday. Gibbs remains a must-start fantasy RB1 in Week 2, but he may need to stay heavily involved as a receiver to post a monster game.

From RotoBaller

Dallas Goedert Sep 12 1:10pm ET
Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) missed a third straight day of practice on Friday, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports. Goedert suffered a knee sprain in the season-opening win over the Dallas Cowboys last Thursday and now looks like he'll miss the Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2. The Eagles have not released their final injury report on Friday or ruled Goedert out yet, but it's trending that way. Fantasy managers with Goedert in their lineups need to have a backup plan in place. The 30-year-old played 92% of the offensive snaps in Week 1, so he's a big part of the offense when he's healthy. If Goedert is out, Grant Calcaterra will be a deep-league sleeper at the position on Sunday. Receivers A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson should also all be more involved.

From RotoBaller

Isaiah Likely Sep 12 1:00pm ET
Isaiah Likely

Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely (foot) was in uniform and doing a workout in front of the training and medical staff on Friday, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. Likely has "upped his activity level" and is getting closer, but he won't play in Week 2 against the division-rival Cleveland Browns. It sounds as though Likely could return as early as Week 3 against the Detroit Lions after fracturing his foot in training camp. The 25-year-old will miss a second straight game to open the year, giving veteran tight end Mark Andrews an opportunity for increased opportunities this Sunday after he fell flat in the season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday night, when he had just one catch for five yards. We'd expect Andrews to be more involved this weekend, especially if receiver Rashod Bateman (undisclosed) cannot play.

From RotoBaller

Rashod Bateman Sep 12 12:40pm ET
Rashod Bateman

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman (undisclosed) was not present for the start of Friday's practice, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. It's unknown what Bateman is dealing with, but it's a new absence this week, which is concerning. We'll have a better idea of Bateman's availability for a Week 3 divisional clash against the Cleveland Browns when the team releases its final injury report for the week. The 25-year-old wideout was barely involved in the team's 41-40 loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday night, catching two of his four targets for only 10 yards despite Baltimore's offense facing little resistance from Buffalo's defense. It was a poor showing from Bateman, but he'll surely be more involved at times in 2025. However, his availability is now in question for this Sunday. If Bateman is out in Week 2, DeAndre Hopkins will be the clear WR2 behind Zay Flowers.

From RotoBaller

Jaylen Wright Sep 12 12:30pm ET
Jaylen Wright

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright (knee) is unlikely to play in Week 2 on Sunday against the division-rival New England Patriots, but head coach Mike McDaniel is not 100 percent certain, according to Travis Winfield of MiamiDolphins.com. Wright missed the Week 1 loss to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday but was able to return to the practice field in a limited fashion this week while wearing a sleeve on his leg. The 22-year-old could draw a questionable tag on Friday's final injury report, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to make his season debut this weekend. Wright also won't be a lock to return in Week 3 against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, with that contest coming next Thursday night. Last week, with Wright inactive, rookie Ollie Gordon II was barely involved behind starter De'Von Achane.
