Cincinnati Reds third baseman Noelvi Marte continued smashing the ball during Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The 23-year-old went 3-for-5 with a double, two steals, and three RBI in the win. Marte went 7-for-15 with seven RBI during this three-game series in Colorado. Overall, Marte is slashing .364/.404/659 with three homers, 15 RBI, and four steals this season. This hot stretch might not last forever, so fantasy managers should take advantage of it and roster Marte where available. He has been red-hot at the plate since being recalled.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan was excellent on the mound during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Ryan was blasted for six runs during his last start, but bounced back nicely during this start. He tossed seven shutout innings, allowing four hits, and striking out 11 batters in the win. Ryan has allowed one earned run or less in four of his first six starts of the season. He'll take a 3.18 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 39/4 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Boston Red Sox. This isn't a favorable matchup for Ryan, but he still remains a must-have in basically all fantasy formats.
From RotoBaller
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Nick Lodolo took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The southpaw was unhittable until Jordan Beck got an infield single in the bottom half of the sixth inning. Despite that, Lodolo tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits, and striking out nine batters in the win. It's not easy pitching at Coors Field, but Lodolo had seemingly no problems in this one. He'll take a 2.25 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 27/5 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Washington Nationals. When healthy, Lodolo is one of the best left-handed pitchers in the game. He should be rostered in most standard 12-team formats.
From RotoBaller
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (hamstring) was hopeful to rejoin the big league club within the next week, but that plan might've changed. Marsh played six innings during a rehab game with Triple-A Lehigh Valley before being removed due to a right hamstring cramp. The plan is to re-evaluate Marsh on Monday, but this setback will likely push back his timetable to return. The 27-year-old was struggling at the plate before going down with a hamstring issue. Marsh has four hits in 51 plate appearances, so fantasy managers can leave him on the waiver wire for now.
From RotoBaller
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez (back) looked strong on the mound during his most recent start at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday. The southpaw tossed 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out eight batters. He threw 78 pitches in this one, so the Phillies will likely want to stretch him out a little more before returning to the big league rotation. There is no word of Suarez making another start, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he makes one more appearance before heading back to Philly. It's worth noting that Cristopher Sanchez (forearm) is banged up, so maybe Suarez replaces him in the rotation. Fantasy managers in need of pitching help should stash Suarez where available.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) has been removed early during Sunday's start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Glasnow gave up two hits, two runs, and walked a batter in the opening frame. He returned in the second inning, but Glasnow was removed while warming up due to right shoulder discomfort. Ouch, this is not a good look, but fantasy managers don't need to panic yet. Glasnow is expected to undergo further testing to determine the significance of the issue. Honestly, it wouldn't be shocking to see him placed on the injured list, but fantasy managers will need to check back for more updates.
From RotoBaller
Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (finger) was removed early during Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Jung was taken out in the fifth inning due to a cut on his index finger. It's unclear when Jung suffered the injury, but hopefully this won't result in a trip to the injured list. Josh Smith took over at third base while Nick Ahmed moved over to shortstop as a result of Jung exiting the contest. Smith figures to see more time at the hot corner if Jung is forced to miss time.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal put together an excellent performance against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. The left-hander tossed six scoreless innings, allowing four hits, and striking out 11 batters in the win. Skubal didn't have many problems during this outing as he only allowed singles and didn't walk anyone. Skubal gave up seven earned runs during his first two starts of the season, but since then he's only allowed one earned run in four starts. The reigning AL CY Young winner is one of the best pitchers in baseball and appears to be at the top of his game right now. He figures to keep the good times rolling against the Los Angeles Angels in his next start.
From RotoBaller
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was seemingly unstoppable at the plate during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. This was a great series for Duran who went 3-for-9 with a walk, triple, and two RBI during the doubleheader on Saturday. He returned on Sunday and went 4-for-6 with three singles, a double, and one RBI in the win. It's worth noting that Duran is currently on an 11-game hit streak at the plate. He got off to a bit of a slow start to the season, but has been heating up at the plate over the last few weeks.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (toe, knee) is scheduled to make two rehab starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City this week. The veteran southpaw continues to ramp up as he's working his way back from an offseason toe and knee injuries. The plan is for Kershaw to start on Tuesday and throw around five innings or 75 pitches. After that, Kershaw will have regular rest before taking the ball again next Sunday. The 37-year-old isn't eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until mid-May. The expectation is that Kershaw will be a regular in the starting rotation once he's healthy. Kershaw might be worth stashing for fantasy managers in need of pitching help.
From RotoBaller
San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill (hamstring) was able to take batting practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. This is a positive step forward for Merrill who is working his way back from a right hamstring strain. The hope is that Merrill can get into some minor league games within the next few days. If everything goes well, Merrill should be able to get back in the Padres lineup in the early stages of May. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Merrill as he should be back in the mix soon.
From RotoBaller
Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Murphy will get a rest day here after starting in the first two games of the series. He went 2-for-6 with a solo homer and two runs scored during the first two contests. In his absence, Drake Baldwin will start behind the plate and bat eighth against right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. Baldwin is viewed as one of the team's top prospects, but isn't a great add in fantasy rosters while splitting up time with Murphy behind the plate.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Smith returned from the injured list on Friday, but has gone hitless over the last two games. That being said, the Dodgers have decided to give Smith the day off on Sunday to rest and hopefully get back on track. In his absence, Austin Barnes will do the catching and bat ninth against left-hander Bailey Falter. Fantasy managers can pull Smith from their lineups on Sunday ahead of first pitch.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco Giants second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. The 27-year-old was scratched on Saturday with a chest contusion that he suffered making a diving play on a grounder the night before and will now miss his second straight contest. Fantasy managers should still consider the right-handed hitter day-to-day. Christian Koss will fill in at second base and bat ninth on Sunday. Koss went 1-for-3 with a run scored on Saturday against the Rangers and will face RHP Jack Leiter on Sunday.
From RotoBaller
New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. will not serve a one-game suspension related to his ejection for arguing with the umpire during a game on April 17. The 27-year-old proceeded to tweet about the incident from the clubhouse while the game was still going on, which is against MLB policies. A settlementwas reached that will allow him to avoid suspension. Heading into Sunday's contest against the Blue Jays, the left-handed hitter was hitting just .172, but has seven home runs, 15 RBI, 15 runs scored, and six stolen bases to go along with a strong 12.6 percent walk rate. The low average hurts his fantasy value in leagues that score that, but the other production is solid in the other four standard categories.
From RotoBaller
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman had a forgettable day on Sunday, yielding six earned runs in just two-and-two-thirds innings. The veteran threw 71 pitches in all, striking out two and walking a whopping five batters during the short outing. After being removed from the game, the 34-year-old was ejected for arguingwith the umpire. The ugly outing leaves the 2x All-Star with a 4.50 ERA (3.89 FIP) over six starts with an 11:28 BB:K in 34 IP. His next start lines up with Cleveland next weekend, and at least a home start in Toronto should help him get back on track.
From RotoBaller
Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford is sitting in Sunday's series finale against the Giants. It is simply a day of rest for the 23-year-old who has played in six consecutive games since coming off the IL after dealing with an oblique injury. The former first-round draft pick had been cruising at the plate, collecting three three-hit performances over the last week, and is slashing .344/.419/.688 on the year with six home runs and four stolen bases. Dustin Harris will get the start in left field and bat eighth for the Rangers on Sunday. Harris is hitless in his last nine at-bats and has a 1:9 BB:K through 25 plate appearances, so there are probably better DFS plays available.
From RotoBaller
The Braves claimed pitcher Ian Anderson off waivers on Sunday from the Los Angeles Angels. It will be the 26-year-old's second go-round with the Braves after they traded him to Los Angeles earlier this year. Once a promising prospect who was even a key rotation piece during the Braves' 2021 World Series run, the righty hasn't been able to replicate that success ever since, and missed nearly all of 2023 and most of 2024 in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Anderson is out of minor league options, so he'll start with the big league club, although it's unclear if they plan to use him as a starter or reliever. He posted an 11.57 ERA, 2.57 WHIP, and 2.0 percent K-BB% over nine-and-a-third innings of relief with the Angels, and is best left to the waiver wire for now.
From RotoBaller
The Miami Marlins optioned starting pitcherConnor Gillispie to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday and recalled reliever Luarbert Arias. Gillispie made the team's opening day roster, but after allowing seven earned runs in two innings in his latest start, they'll send him back to the minors for more development. Over six starts this season, the righty posted an 8.65 ERA (5.65 FIP), 1.65 WHIP, and a 9.8 percent K-BB%. Both Eury Perez and Ryan Weathers began rehab assignments this weekend, so the Marlins should have options in how to replace Gillispie in the rotation in the coming weeks. Arias was with the big league club earlier this month, posting a gaudy 11.37 ERA, 2.05 WHIP, and 6.3 percent K-BB% over six-and-a-third innings of work, leaving little relevance for fantasy purposes.
From RotoBaller
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins (illness) is out of the team's lineup for their series finale against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. The 30-year-old has reportedly been battling an illness over the last few days, though he did play all 18 innings across the team's doubleheader on Saturday, so it seems like just some extra rest for him. Mullins has been excellent this season, slashing .279/.421/.547 with six long balls, five doubles, and five steals. Perhaps even more impressive, he's raised his walk rate to a robust 17.1%. If it stands, that'd be the highest figure of his career by far. Dylan Carlson is covering center field, batting sixth for the O's in their series finale with the Tigers.
