Spencer Torkelson Wed Apr 30 11:30am CT

Detroit Tigers first baseman/designated hitter Spencer Torkelson will get his first day off of the season in Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Houston Astros. Colt Keith will shift to first base and bat fifth, while outfielder Kerry Carpenter handles the DH duties and hits leadoff against Astros right-hander A.J. Blubaugh. Torkelson will get his first day of rest in 2025 after going 4-for-31 in his last nine games. However, the former first overall pick in 2020 out of Arizona State has provided fantasy managers with plenty of production through the first month of the season, hitting .243 (26-for-107) with eight home runs, 24 RBI, 20 runs scored and a stolen base in 30 games played. He should be back for Thursday's series opener against the Los Angeles Angels. Nobody in Detroit's starting nine on Wednesday has faced Blubaugh.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Wed Apr 30 11:30am CT

New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) will have testing on his right oblique during the team's off day on Thursday. Manager Aaron Boone said there is some concern it could be an injured-list situation, although Chisholm told him that he feels "fine." Although the Yankees' lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles hasn't been posted, fantasy managers should be expecting the 27-year-old to sit out. Depending on what testing reveals on Thursday, Chisholm could also be absent this weekend in the Bronx against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. Although he's hitting just .181 (19-for-105) on the year, Chisholm does have seven home runs and six stolen bases and should be stashed in an IL spot if he lands on the shelf. If Chisholm ends up missing extended time with this injury, Pablo Reyes figures to be the primary beneficiary at the keystone.

Tyler Callihan Wed Apr 30 11:30am CT

The Cincinnati Reds have promoted infield prospect Tyler Callihan to the major league roster. Callihan will also get the starting nod during the first half of their doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals. Callihan is slated to bat in the nine-hole and cover the keystone. The former third-round pick has enjoyed an impressive start to the Triple-A regular season and is being rewarded with an early MLB debut. Through 24 games, Callihan has posted a strong .303/.410/.528 slash line with four doubles, four home runs, and six stolen bases. The 24-year-old needed just 30 career games at the Triple-A level to prove he was ready for the big leagues. Fantasy managers should monitor his production as he could find a short-term role in the big leagues with Jeimer Candelario (spine), who hit the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. However, he is best to fade in DFS in his MLB debut.

    A.J. Puk Wed Apr 30 11:30am CT

Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed reliever A.J. Puk (elbow) will not require surgery for his left-elbow flexor strain, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert. Puk will not throw for the next two to three weeks and will resume throwing once he's asymptomatic. It's ultimately good news for the 30-year-old southpaw, but fantasy managers stashing him will still need to remain patient and should expect a lengthy absence. Before his injury, the former sixth overall pick of the Athletics in 2016 out of the University of Florida had a 3.38 ERA (4.45 FIP), a 1.25 WHIP, four saves, 12 strikeouts and two walks in eight innings pitched for the Snakes. When he returns, Puk will re-enter the mix for saves in Arizona alongside Justin Martinez. In the meantime, Martinez will function as the team's primary closer, which means he should be rostered in all fantasy formats.

Yainer Diaz Wed Apr 30 11:20am CT

Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and catcher Yainer Diaz are resting in Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Detroit Tigers. Outfielder Jose Altuve is serving as the DH and is batting second, while Victor Caratini is doing the catching and hitting fifth against Tigers rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe. Zach Dezenzo is in left field and is hitting eighth. Alvarez had an undisclosed injury scare on Monday and was pulled early against Detroit, but he returned to action on Tuesday and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in the 6-4 victory. It's still early, but the three-time All-Star hasn't been his normal self in 2025 to this point with a .219/.316/.354 slash line and three homers in 96 at-bats. Diaz will get a breather after starting the last four games. He, too, has also struggled at the plate early on, going 17-for-91 (.187) with two homers, 12 RBI and eight runs scored for Houston.

Roman Anthony Wed Apr 30 11:20am CT

Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Roman Anthony (foot) returned to the starting nine on Tuesday evening and went 1-for-5 with a strikeout. This is an excellent sign as the budding star was dealing with a minor foot injury over the weekend. However, Anthony was able to make a quick return to the starting nine. Through his first 24 games of the Triple-A regular season, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB Pipeline has posted a stellar .306/.439/.565 slash line with five doubles, five home runs, and two stolen bases. Last season, during his first taste of Triple-A action, the outfielder posted a .344/.463/.519 slash line with 12 doubles. Given his impressive start to the campaign, Anthony should be viewed as a top stash option in all standard formats.

Jeimer Candelario Wed Apr 30 11:10am CT

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Wednesday that they placed infielder Jeimer Candelario (spine) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 28) with a lumbar spine strain and recalled infielder Tyler Callihan from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. This could help explain why the 31-year-old veteran switch-hitter was off to such a bad start in 2025 with a .113/.198/.213 slash line and only two home runs in his first 80 at-bats of the season. Before the injury, Candelario was seeing more time on the bench due to his offensive struggles early on. Hopefully for Candelario's fantasy managers, he'll be more productive when he returns from the IL and returns to a regular role for the Reds. For the time being, though, Spencer Steer will see most of the work at first base, with the hot-hitting Noelvi Marte manning the hot corner with Christian Encarnacion-Strand (back) also out.

    From RotoBaller

Austin Hays Wed Apr 30 11:10am CT

Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona said the team is trying to buy outfielder Austin Hays' hamstring some time after his MRI exam showed some minor results. The Reds are "exploring" not having Hays go on the injured list and seeing how his symptoms are. Hays is out of the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals, with prospect Tyler Callihan taking his place in left field and batting ninth against Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas in his major-league debut. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 29-year-old Hays to be day-to-day for now, but he could land on the IL if he's unable to play by the end of the weekend series against the visiting Washington Nationals. It would be bad timing for Hays to land on the IL, as he's been one of the hottest hitters early on, slashing .365/.431/.712 with five homers and 13 RBI in his 52 at-bats for the Reds.

Noah Cameron Wed Apr 30 11:00am CT

The Kansas City Royals have officially promoted left-handed pitching prospect Noah Cameron from Triple-A Omaha ahead of his MLB debut on Wednesday. Cameron is slated to fill in for the injured Cole Ragans (groin) during Wednesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays. Cameron has enjoyed a solid start to the Triple-A regular season. Through his first 22 1/3 innings of work, the Central Arkansas product has held a 3.22 ERA with a strong 1.03 WHIP. He has struck out 27 batters and shown strong command as he has served up eight free passes. Last season at Triple-A, the southpaw posted an impressive 2.32 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP across 54 1/3 innings of work. Given his steady production at Triple-A, fantasy managers should consider adding Cameron as a streaming option on Wednesday ahead of his outing against the Rays.

    From RotoBaller

Chase Petty Wed Apr 30 11:00am CT

The Cincinnati Reds have officially promoted right-handed pitching prospect Chase Petty to the MLB roster ahead of his MLB debut on Wednesday evening against the St. Louis Cardinals. Petty is slated to start the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the Triple-A campaign and is being rewarded with an early MLB debut. Through his first 23 innings at Triple-A Louisville, Petty has held a 3.52 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP. He has struck out 27 batters and served up just nine free passes. In his last start, Petty tossed six shutout innings and tallied seven punchouts against the Iowa Cubs. He is worth a look in deeper NL-only formats facing the St. Louis Cardinals. However, he will likely be optioned back to Triple-A after this start and should not be targeted in shallow formats.

    From RotoBaller

Matt Shaw Wed Apr 30 10:50am CT

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Matt Shaw went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI during Tuesday's contest against Triple-A Buffalo. This was Shaw's third-straight game tallying multiple hits. Since returning to Triple-A Iowa on April 18, the Maryland product has held a strong .290/.405/.452 slash line with two doubles and a home run. Shaw was able to make the Opening Day roster out of spring training but was optioned back to the minor leagues after he struggled. Across his first 18 games in the big leagues, the former 13th overall pick held a modest .172/.294/.241 slash line with just two extra-base hits. Fantasy managers in deeper NL-only formats should continue to monitor his status at Triple-A, as he should contend for an early return to the big leagues. When he does return, he will be worth rostering in all standard leagues given the potential he has shown at Triple-A.

Kyle Gibson Wed Apr 30 8:40am CT

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Gibson (0-1) made his season debut Tuesday night but struggled significantly in the 15-3 loss to the New York Yankees. He allowed nine earned runs on 11 hits, including five home runs, and was pulled before finishing the fourth inning. The Bronx Bombers jumped on the 37-year-old early, launching back-to-back-to-back home runs in the first. His rough outing only adds to the concerns for a Baltimore rotation that has struggled to find consistency early in the season. Gibson will look to rebound in his next scheduled start on Tuesday on the road against the Minnesota Twins.

    From RotoBaller

Bowden Francis Wed Apr 30 8:30am CT

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Bowden Francis (2-4) faced significant challenges on Tuesday night, surrendering seven earned runs in just three innings in a 10-2 home loss to the Red Sox. He was tagged with his fourth loss of the season. Francis gave up five home runs and struck out only one batter, capping off a tough April. After showing promise as a starter for Toronto last August, Francis now holds a 5.28 ERA over 30 2/3 innings, with opponents batting .274 against him. The Blue Jays will need him to regain his form as they fall behind in the AL East. Francis will look to rebound in his next start on Sunday at home against the Cleveland Guardians.

    From RotoBaller

Garrett Crochet Wed Apr 30 8:20am CT

Boston Red Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet (3-2) continued his early-season dominance in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Blue Jays. Crochet earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six over seven innings. He now has a 2.05 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts through 44 innings and has firmly established himself as the Red Sox's No. 1 starter. Crochet figures to shoulder a significant workload as Boston pushes to stay in the mix in a competitive American League East. The southpaw's next scheduled start is Sunday at home against the Minnesota Twins.

    From RotoBaller

Tanner Bibee Wed Apr 30 8:10am CT

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee went seven strong innings in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins. Bibee recorded five strikeouts and allowed just one run on five hits, lowering his ERA to 4.36 on the season. He did not factor into the decision. While he was not able to record a win after a Ty France home run tied the game in the fifth, Bibee still built on his previous outing in a significant way. He now has 25 strikeouts in 33 innings and carries a 1.30 WHIP while holding opponents to a .242 average. Bibee will look to build on Tuesday's performance in his next start on Sunday on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Seiya Suzuki Wed Apr 30 8:00am CT

Chicago Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki powered the team to a commanding 9-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night. Suzuki went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a triple, a walk, and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's victory. The 30-year-old is now slashing .298/.368/.596 and continues to produce at the plate after his best offensive season in 2024. He has also recorded four multi-hit performances in his last five games. Suzuki remains a key piece in the Cubs' offense as he and the Cubs will try to keep things rolling Wednesday against right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski.

    From RotoBaller

Zack Wheeler Wed Apr 30 7:20am CT

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler was strong in Tuesday's start against the Washington Nationals, going 6 innings of two-run ball while taking a no-decision. Wheeler allowed five hits and a walk while striking out seven in this one. He was in line for the win when he exited the game, but a four-run ninth from the Nats erased that, even though the Phillies did end up winning 7-6. After a few shaky starts in mid-April, Wheeler has returned to his usual self in his last three starts. He now has a (2-1) record with a 3.48 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in 44 IP on the season. Wheeler's next start is scheduled for Tuesday on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays.

    From RotoBaller

Carlos Rodon Wed Apr 30 7:10am CT

New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (4-3) had another quality effort on Tuesday, hurling six innings of two-run ball and picking up his fourth win in a 15-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Rodon only allowed two hits and a walk while striking out seven. The 32-year-old has now allowed only two runs and 15 baserunners in his last 19 innings, winning each of those three starts. While Rodon tends to lose his control occasionally and also deals with home run issues, the southpaw can be absolutely dominant when he is on his game, like he is right now. This start improves his numbers to a (4-3) record, 3.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 52 strikeouts in 42 IP. It can be frustrating to own Rodon in fantasy, but he is a must-start pitcher because of his upside. He will look to keep the momentum in his next start, which should come next Monday against the San Diego Padres at home.

    From RotoBaller

Andy Pages Wed Apr 30 7:10am CT

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 15-2 victory over the Miami Marlins. He added two singles, a steal, and scored twice. Pages is the hottest hitter in baseball right now, putting together a seven-game hit streak with five multi-hit efforts, including three three-hit and a four-hit performance. Over that time, the 24-year-old is an astounding 17-for-29 (.586) with seven extra-base hits (four home runs, three doubles), eight RBI, three steals, and nine runs scored. The hot stretch has him up to a .293/.369/.533 slash line, and he's well on his way to outpacing the statistics he accrued in his first big-league action last season. However, he may see some regression soon, considering he's vastly outperforming his .220 xBA.

    From RotoBaller

Luis Robert Wed Apr 30 7:00am CT

Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. went 1-for-3 with a home run, a steal, and a walk in his team's 7-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. The 27-year-old gave the White Sox an early 2-0 lead when he and teammate Andrew Benintendi hit back-to-back long balls in the bottom of the first inning, though that'd be all the offense they could muster. Robert Jr. may finally be waking up at the plate, as he's recorded two homers in his last three games while putting together a four-game hit streak -- his longest of the year. Additionally, he's stolen four bases during that stretch, already putting him at 11 on the young season. He has an excellent chance to eclipse the career-high he set in that figure a season ago (23).
