Winston is producing big numbers

This could be a tough week for a lot of fantasy owners with six teams on a bye. A lot of teams could be scrambling for replacements. There are some decent options out there this week but not as many as the last few weeks. That is why it is always a good idea to plan ahead. Keep that in mind for Week 14 with six more teams off.

QUARTERBACK

Drake Maye, Patriots (51.3% owned). Maye just keeps growing every week and doing so in an offense lacking some weapons offensively. It is not holding him back, though. He threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns last week. He has 20-plus fantasy points four of six games. Maye is a legit spot starter for fantasy teams as a rookie.

Anthony Richardson, Colts (54.2% owned). Richardson got dropped in a lot of leagues after he was benched. Well, he returned to the starting lineup last week and played his best game of the season. He looked like the QB1 everyone expected before this season. Richardson scored 31.8 fantasy points against a good Jets defense. He is capable of the huge game any given week when all is going right for him. He is a dual threat with a high ceiling.

Jameis Winston, Browns (40.8% owned). Winston is getting it done as the Browns starting quarterback. He has 27-plus fantasy points two of three games. He threw for a season-high 395 yards last week and has 300-plus yards two of three. Winston is worth using in the right matchup.

RUNNING BACK

Cam Akers, Vikings (49.1% owned). Akers had double-digit carries for the second straight game. He also scored his second touchdown of the season last week. He has two games this season with double-digit fantasy points. He is the top backup for the Vikings right now and getting pretty consistent work in that role.

Roschon Johnson, Bears (46.8% owned). Johnson played a lot last week, rushing 10 times for 33 yards and a touchdown. The Bears used him more, almost platooning him with starter D’Andre Swift. With a new offensive coordinator calling plays, this could be the best most weeks, giving Johnson some improving fantasy value.

Jaylen Wright, Dolphins (35.5% owned). Raheem Mostert is dealing with a hip injury, so Wright could be the top backup for the team if Mostert has to miss any time. Wright would have good value in this role, serving as the No. 2 back in a top run offense.

WIDE RECEIVER

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Titans (14.6% owned). Westbrook-Ikhine scored another touchdown last week, giving him scores five of six games. He is getting more playing time with DeAndre Hopkins gone. He is a little boom or bust because he doesn’t get a lot of targets, but as long as he keeps scoring, he is going to help fantasy teams. Westbrook-Ikhine has 11-plus fantasy points three of four games.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Saints (24.6% owned). Valdes-Scantling made some more big plays last week, catching two passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. He has three touchdowns on five catches his last two games. Valdes-Scantling is another boom-or-bust play but is making the plays right now.

Kendrick Bourne, Patriots (2.0% owned). Bourne was active in Week 10 but didn’t play a snap. That wasn’t the case last week, catching five passes for 70 yards and a touchdown. The Patriots want to use younger options at receiver but it is going to be hard to keep Bourne out of the lineup if he keeps playing this well. He is worth a speculative pickup for receiver needy fantasy teams.

Curtis Samuel, Bills (11.1% owned). Samuel got more playing time last week because of injuries and responded with his best game as a Bill. He had five receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown on six targets. He has 14 targets his last two games. Samuel can produce in this offense if he keeps getting the playing time.

Christian Watson, Packers (56.8% owned). Watson was drafted in nearly all leagues but got dropped in many because of a slow start. He is playing more consistently now, though. He has at least three catches three straight and had a season-high 150 yards last week. He is a boom-or-bust play but has good weekly potential in this offense.

Demario Douglas, Patriots (48.8% owned). Douglas has been racking up the targets with Drake Maye as the Patriots starting quarterback. He has 21 targets his last three games and 16 catches during that stretch. This gives him a solid weekly fantasy floor. He isn’t flashy but consistent for fantasy teams.

TIGHT END

Taysom Hill, Saints (64.4% owned). Hill is going to be owned in all formats after this week’s waive wire runs in your league. And he should be after his game-changing performance last week. Hill seems to be getting more and more involved in the offense since the firing of head coach Dennis Allen. Hill has 16-plus fantasy points two of three games.

Jonnu Smith, Dolphins (52.1% owned). Smith had his first 100-yard game as a Dolphins in Week 11. He had six receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Smith is looking more and more comfortable every week in the Dolphins offense. His fantasy stock is rising.

Will Dissly, Chargers (30.5% owned). Dissly continues to get his weekly work in the Chargers emerging passing game. He had four receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown last week. He has at least six targets four of five games. Dissly is not a high-end fantasy tight end but a consistent option at an inconsistent position.

Bo Nix Jul 28 4:00pm ET
Bo Nix

Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram is forming a nice combination with quarterback Bo Nix early in training camp. Engram, who joined the Broncos as a free agent in the offseason, was Nix's go-to target during the team's first padded practice on Monday. Previously with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Engram is only two years removed from piling up 114 receptions, 143 targets, 963 yards, and four touchdowns in 2023. The 30-year-old was unable to replicate that production last season, though, as he missed eight games with multiple injuries and caught 47 balls (64 targets) for 365 yards and one score. Healthy again and playing for a much better team, Engram looks to have intriguing rebound potential in 2025 with the ascending Nix as his quarterback.

Baker Mayfield Jul 28 3:50pm ET
Baker Mayfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has agreed to a reworked contract that will guarantee him $30 million in 2026, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Mayfield's deal previously included no guarantees for the 2026 campaign, which is the final season of his contract. After bouncing around with the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Los Angeles Rams from 2018-22, the former No. 1 overall pick has finally realized his potential in Tampa Bay. He's coming off back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons, including a career-high 4,500 in 2024, and hasn't missed a game as a Buccaneer. Along with his lofty yardage total, Mayfield established new personal-bests in completion percentage (71.4%), touchdowns (41), and quarterback rating (106.8) last season. He also rushed for a career-best 378 yards and added three more scores on the ground. With a quality supporting cast around him, Mayfield is going into 2025 as RotoBaller's ninth-ranked QB.

Jayden Reed Jul 28 3:40pm ET
Jayden Reed

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed worked with the starters in two-WR sets during practice on Monday, according to Andy Herman of the Pack-A-Day podcast. That's a rarity for Reed, who totaled a meager 33 snaps in two-receiver sets during his first two seasons in the league. Despite somewhat limited usage, the former second-round pick from Michigan State still averaged around 60 catches, 85 targets, 825 yards, and seven touchdowns from 2023-24. While Reed does have issues with drops (he had 10 last year), he'd have significant upside if he were to accrue more snaps opposite Romeo Doubs. One potential problem for Reed is that the role may go to Matthew Golden, Green Bay's first-round pick in this year's draft.

Dalton Kincaid Jul 28 3:20pm ET
Dalton Kincaid

Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid (knee) sat out practice on Monday with soreness in his left knee. There's no word on the severity of the issue, but it's worth noting that Kincaid missed a month last year with a PCL tear in the same knee and played through the injury at the end of the season. Thanks in part to his knee troubles, Kincaid experienced a marked decline in production compared to the previous season. As a rookie in 2023, the former first-round pick from Utah amassed 73 catches on 91 targets, 673 yards, and two touchdowns over 16 games. In another two-TD campaign last year, Kincaid caught only 44 of 75 targets for 448 yards in 13 contests. The 25-year-old still has serious upside, especially with reigning MVP Josh Allen as his quarterback and no established No. 1 wide receiver on the roster, but his ongoing knee troubles are concerning.

Courtland Sutton Jul 28 3:10pm ET
Courtland Sutton

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has agreed to a four-year, $92 million contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2029 season. Sutton had been slated to become a free agent after the season, but he's staying in place after establishing a rapport with young quarterback Bo Nix in 2024. Sutton, 29, appeared in all of Denver's regular-season games last year and tallied career-high marks in catches (81) and targets (135). He also scored eight touchdowns and racked up 1,000-plus yards (1,081) for the second time in his first seven seasons in the NFL. The former second-round pick out of SMU remains atop the Denver receiver depth chart and should continue to get plenty of looks from Nix in the second year of the signal-caller's career. Sutton will enter the season as RotoBaller's 20th-ranked receiver.

Kenny Pickett Jul 28 3:00pm ET
Kenny Pickett

Cleveland Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett (hamstring) left the team's Saturday practice with a hamstring injury, and head coach Kevin Stefanski would not disclose the severity of the injury when meeting with the media on Monday. Stefanski reportedly said that Joe Flacco will handle the majority of first-team reps for the team in the immediate future, according to Tony Grossi of The Land on Demand. Pickett is in a competition with Flacco and rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders for the starting job in Cleveland, but this injury threatens to set him back. In five games (one start) for the Philadelphia Eagles last season, Pickett completed 59.5% of his passes for 291 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. A former first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022, Pickett may be getting his last chance to prove himself as a starter with Cleveland. He'll need a quick recovery to beat out Flacco for the job heading into the regular season.

Courtland Sutton Jul 28 2:50pm ET
Courtland Sutton

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton says the team is "close" on a new contract for wide receiver Courtland Sutton, according to Vic Lombardi of Altitude Sport. Lombardi notes that Sutton did not participate in several drills during the team's practice on Monday. Sutton will turn 30 in October and is entering the final year of his current deal. In 17 games last season, he recorded 81 catches for 1,081 yards and eight touchdowns, emerging as the clear favorite target of quarterback Bo Nix. Sutton is an integral piece of Denver's offense, so it makes sense that the team would want to eliminate any possible contract-related tension with him before the season starts. He profiles as a back-end WR2 in full-PPR fantasy leagues.

MarShawn Lloyd Jul 28 2:40pm ET
MarShawn Lloyd

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (undisclosed) "walked off gingerly with a trainer" after a collision in practice on Monday, according to Andy Herman of the Pack-A-Day Podcast. It's too soon to tell how serious this injury is, but it's an ominous sign for the second-year back. Drafted in the third round in 2024, Lloyd missed almost all of his rookie year due to hip, hamstring, ankle, and appendix issues. He entered camp this year competing with Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks for the backup job behind Josh Jacobs in Green Bay. Lloyd averaged 7.1 yards per rush attempt and scored nine touchdowns in his final college season at USC in 2023, but he hasn't gained much traction at the NFL level to date. An extended training camp absence would put him even further behind the eight ball entering his second season.

Cam Skattebo Jul 28 2:30pm ET
Cam Skattebo

New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo made big plays as both a rusher and receiver during team drills on Friday, according to Matt Citak of Giants.com. A fourth-round pick out of Arizona State, Skattebo gained 2,316 yards from scrimmage and scored 24 touchdowns in 13 games last season for the Sun Devils. He's competing with second-year back Tyrone Tracy Jr. and veteran Devin Singletary for touches in the Giants' backfield. Skattebo proved himself to be a workhorse who could handle both rushing and receiving duties at the college level. With a solid showing in training camp and preseason games, he could vault himself into a significant role right away in 2025. RotoBaller currently ranks him as RB35, four spots behind Tracy Jr. in full-PPR.

Cordarrelle Patterson Jul 28 2:20pm ET
Cordarrelle Patterson

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released running back Cordarrelle Patterson, according to a tweet from Patterson himself on Monday morning. The 34-year-old appeared to be fifth on the team's depth chart at running back behind Jaylen Warren, Kaleb Johnson, Kenneth Gainwell, and Trey Sermon, so this news does not come as a huge surprise. Patterson appeared in 13 games for Pittsburgh in 2024, rushing for 135 yards on 32 carries and catching 12 passes for 80 yards. He also served as a kick returner, which is where Patterson has arguably made the biggest impact throughout his career. It remains to be seen whether the 12-year vet will look to catch on with another team as a gadget piece on offense and contributor on special teams, or hang up his cleats. Either way, his days as a fantasy-relevant player are in the past.

DJ Giddens Jul 28 2:10pm ET
DJ Giddens

Indianapolis Colts rookie running back DJ Giddens scored a long touchdown against the first-team defense during team drills in practice on Monday, according to Angela Moryan of WISH-TV News. The Colts drafted Giddens out of Kansas St. in the fifth round of this year's draft. He put up big numbers in 2024 for the Wildcats, rushing for 1,343 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 258 yards and a score as a receiver. Indianapolis has superstar Jonathan Taylor entrenched as their RB1, but there could be an opportunity for Giddens to win the primary backup job away from veterans Khalil Herbert and Tyler Goodson. If Giddens does make an impact this year as a rookie, it will likely be as a receiver out of the backfield. That's an area where Taylor does not see heavy usage, so Giddens' quickest path to playing time may be in a third-down role.

Russell Wilson Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Russell Wilson

Dynasty | The Seahawks have released tight end Noah Fant. Dynasty Analysis: The Seahawks needed to cut some payroll and Fant ends up on the wrong end of it as a result. Fant just never became a difference maker in the Emerald City, despite being one of the biggest parts of the Russell Wilson trade years ago. In the end, his three seasons in Seattle yielded a total of fewer than 1,500 yards and only five touchdowns in 48 total games. Fant looks like a bit of a roster clogger at this point, but could be back on the radar should be end up in a favorable spot over the next week or so.

Elijah Arroyo Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Elijah Arroyo

Dynasty | With the release of Noah Fant, rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo moves up the depth chart in Seattle. Dynasty Analysis: Seattle must have clearly liked what they saw in Arroyo in rookie minicamp as they let Fant go unceremoniously in what ended up being a cost-saving move today. Arroyo now looks locked in as the TE1 for the Seahawks and while that hasn't resulted in a ton of fantasy production lately, he does add an athletic dynamic Seattle hasn't seen lately. With the release of Fant, expect Arroyo's rookie ADP to climb up a smidge.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Joe Burrow Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Joe Burrow

Dynasty | The Bengals have signed quarterback Desmond Ridder. Dynasty Analysis: The former University of Cincinnati quarterback returns home with the hopes of carving out a role as the backup to Joe Burrow. Once thought of as the potential future in Atlanta, Ridder has shown he's a decent player, but simply not one with the potential of being a true starter in the NFL. At this point, he belongs on deep rosters in 2QB/Superflex leagues, but it's hard to justify a spot for him in a conventional dynasty league.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Stefon Diggs Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Stefon Diggs

Dynasty | Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs was not placed in the initial PUP list by New England. Dynasty Analysis: This is some welcome good news for any dynasty manager who has Diggs on their roster. After all, he endured a torn ACL last season and there was some speculation the Patriots weren't even going to guarantee him a roster spot after a video surfaced that painted him in a pretty bad light recently. Regardless, it seems Diggs may indeed be ahead of schedule in his recovery and could be ready for the start of the season. While he has a long way to go in order to reclaim his spot as a true WR1 in weekly lineups, his ADP will likely start taking a positive trajectory in the coming weeks.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Jaydon Blue Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Jaydon Blue

Dynasty | Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue is contending the idea he is lazy. Dynasty Analysis: There was a report last week indicating the Cowboys coaches weren't thrilled with his work ethic and effort level. Blue has fired back in earnest on social media and claims it's essentially fake news. Time will tell if he can shake this label but he clearly has time to do just that. In the end, it's likely he didn't make a great first impression, but the fifth round rookie has a great path to playing time and still makes for a solid mid-to-late rookie pick in dynasty leagues based on his upside and opportunity.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Cam Ward Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Cam Ward

Dynasty | Titans quarterback Will Levis will miss the 2025 season with a shoulder injury. Dynasty Analysis: If Cam Ward wasn't already the overwhelming favorite to start in week one, this will make that all but official. Levis is reportedlu going to undergo shoulder surgery and hope to be back for the beginning of next season, presumably as a backup to Ward or even looking for a new team. After the Titans took the plunge with Ward at the top of this year's draft, Levis' dynasty value tanked. This will make him waiver wire fodder in virtually every league.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Terry McLaurin Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Terry McLaurin

Dynasty | Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin is exploring all options while awaiting a new contract. Dynasty Analysis: While McLaurin wants to stay in Washington, he also clearly wants his money first. This could mean a number of different outcomes including a new deal, a holdout or eventually a trade to someone willing to pay him. Time is starting to run thin and McLaurin looks like a player willing to play some hardball in order to get his contract. Stay tuned.

Nyheim Hines Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Nyheim Hines

Dynasty | The Chargers have signed running back Nyheim Hines. Dynasty Analysis: The famous victim of a watercraft accident that nearly ended his career, Hines (or Miller-Hines as he goes by now) will attempt to carve out a role for the Chargers. This move could indicate the Chargers expect Najee Harris out for a bit or could inidcate Kimani Vidal's job may not be 100% secure. Regardless, Hines is pretty far away from a roster spot in a dynasty league, but one injury could make it Miller time!

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Stefon Diggs Jul 28 1:13pm ET
Stefon Diggs

Dynasty | The Patriots have cleared Stefon Diggs to practice in full. Dynasty Analysis: While New England will certainly monitor his reps closely, Diggs looks to be on track to start in week one and that's a bit of a medical miracle considering he tore his ACL only nine months ago. It's been a tumultuous off-season for Diggs, but his ADP will start to rise with this last hurdle now conquered.
